SUMMARY
Anomalous to economic grade gold values were located across
the stripped - sampled area. This area covers strongly
ductile sheared and carbonatized wackes, hematitic argillites
and magnetite iron formation.
Highly anomalous (100 ppb Au to 10,000 ppb Au) channel sample
assay results are focused in three 5 to 10 meter wide E.W.
trending zones. Gold values are found in sheared iron for
mation with replacement sulphides (arsenopyrite, pyrite)
and quartz; as well as brittle - ductile shears with quartz.
Interpretation of magnetic and V.L.F. survey results show
E.-N.E. and W.-N.W. shearing disrupting two major E.-W.
trending iron formation horizons, as wll as one strong V.L.F.
sulphide conductor. These various iron formations are
located to the north of the showing area.
The Nissiamkikam Fault Zone cuts through the property and is reflected by a V.L.F. conductor located to the immediate
south of the showing area. The Nissiamkikam structure is
a subsidiary feature to the Watson Lake deformation zone.
Both structures show W.-N.E. and W.-N.W. trends. Gold min
eralization at the Solomon Pillars Mine, located some 2.5
miles east of the Houghton 801 Showing, is associated with
the Nissiamkikam Fault. Here, gold distributed in lenses
is focused along sheared iron formation with quartz and re
placement sulphides - arsenopyrite and pyrite.
Exploration for replacement sulphides with gold in sheared
iron formation similar to the type located at the Houghton
801 Showing and Solomon Pillars occurrences is recommended
for the area to the north of the stripped showing.
E.-N.E and W.-N.W. geophysically inferred shears cutting
oxide facies I.F. and V.L.F. - sulphide facies - conductors
would be the principle targets.

1.0 INTRODUCTION
In the summer of 1990, during the course of an O.P.A.P. funded stripping programme, Frank Houghton located gold minerali
zation in sheared carbonatized oxide facies iron formation
with replacement sulphides. Freewest Resources Inc optioned
the property in the fall of 1990, and continued with a pro
gramme of additional stripping - washing with systematic
channel sampling.
This report describes the 1990 exploration programme over
the Houghton 801 Project, Walters Township, Beardmore Area,
Ontario. In addition, the 1992 ground geophysical survey
results are summarized.
The property is located north of Highway 11 between the towns of Beardmore and Jellicoe. This area of the Wabigoon Sub-
province is characterized by a repetitious sequence of meta- sediments and iron formation. East - west trending fault
shear zones cutting these rocks locally contain gold mineral
ization associated with carbonate - silica alteration. The
Houghton 801 Property covers a gold occurrence of this type.

The property is easily accessed, with the gravelled secondary
road 801 passing through the east half of the claims. A
bulldozed tractor road leads from 801 to the showing
stripped area. Statistically, the property is 2.5 kilometers
north of the Highway 11 - 801 intersection; which, is in
turn, located 20 kilometers east of Jellicoe.

The area of the Houghton 801 Property is located within the Beardmore - Geraldton Volcanic - Sedimentary Belt of the
Archean Eastern Wabigoon Subprovince. This section of the
belt lies to the immediated north of the E. W. trending Quetico
-Wabigoon Subprovince structural contact.
The region is cut by three major E. -W. trending structures,
which are referred to from North to South as the Paint Lake Fault, the Watson Lake Fault, and the Blackwater Fault.
These faults cut through portions of the Namewani ni kan Group
of clastic and chemical metasedimentary rocks.
Gold mineralization is associated with these structures,
in the sediments along the length of the Beardmore - Gerald ton Belt. The Houghton gold property covers clastic meta- sediments with iron formation in the Namewani ni kan Group
and is affected by the Nissiamkikam Fault; a subparallel,
subsidiary structure to the Watson Lake Fault.

3 . O W E X P L ORATION (Please Refer to Figure V and Maps 1, 2 and 3)
Remnants of old pits (circa 1930's) sunk on carbonatized
-sheared sediments were located to the immediate south of
the present showing area. The results of this old trenching
are not well documented; however, the present resampling
programme provided only anomalous gold values.
M. F. Cowan, in 1984, completed ground magnetic survey with prospecting over the claims. In 1987 Blue Falcon Mines Ltd,
undertook magnetic and V.L.F. survey with prospecting and mapping. Follow-up work in areas of shearing - alteration
- iron formation, and anomalous gold rock samples with con
ductors was recommended but not performed. In both cases
the claims were subsequently dropped.
IXPLORATION-PR06RAMME-Z-FALL-1990Power stripping for 200 meters along the gold showing E.-
W. trend and locally for some 120 meters across trend was
completed with a 215 type Caterpillar backhoe. Where possible
the bedrock was exposed for mapping and sampling through high pressure hydraulic washing.
A total of 304 channel samples were collected and assayed
for gold from 49 cross channels that had been cut by diamond
saw. Some 13 channel sample re-assays, as well as 8 gold
grab sample assays were performed. Channels as well as ex
posed bedrock were mapped geologically.

4.1 NAPPING AND SAMPLING
4.1.1 GEOLOGY
The metasedimentary rocks here show graduational contacts. Chloritic wackes grade into chloritic argillites; the rocks are locally well laminated, possibly, partially due to
shearing and alteration.
Green chloritic argillites grade into and are interbanded
with red-purple ferruginous argillites that in turn grade
to hematitic argillite with magnetite laminations. The end product, cherty hematitic - magnetite rich iron formation
forms narrow l to 2 meter wide discontinous bands. The vari
ous horizons range from 2 to 35 meters in width, are steeply dipping, and trend more or less east - west. The argillites
locally show prominent kink type microfolding.
4.1.2 S H E A RN GAN ALE R AH ON
Ubiquitous ductile shearing trends at a slightly oblique
angle to bedding in the exposed area. Brittle - ductile
shears in the iron formation provides for quartz and carbonate
veining with pyrite and arsenopyrite. Similarly this veining
with sulphide is prominent in thicker sections of the wackes.
The focused brittle ductile shears cross cut the ductile
shear zones, also at an oblique angle.
-6-
l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l
Shearing Is best developed along a 7 to 10 meter wide zone,
"The Main Shear Zone". This ductile shear zone includes
wackes, argillite and iron formation as well as the majority
of the anomalous gold values, with quartz and quartz - carbon
ate stringers - bands.
Alteration, again ubiquitous is mainly the carbonate - anker
ite type. Quartz, and quartz - carbonate bands and stringers
are prominent in the more highly sheared areas. Carbonate
alteration, with quartz is most intense along the "Main Shear
Zone". Silicification and/or silica remobilization is well
developed along parts of the iron formation; particularly
in areas of arsenopyrite, pyrite replacement.
4.1.3 GQLlLMiN EM LIZ AJiON
Sampling programme gold assay results are plotted on Maps
1 and 2 with sampling intervals, as well as geology and alter
ation variables. A compilation of this data is presented
on Map 3.
Channel sample gold assay values range from a low of < 5 p pb
Au to a high of 9525 ppb Au. A grab sample assaying 1.865
oz Au/ton was also collected.
Weakly anomalous gold values, (plus 50 ppb Au) are located
across the sampled area. These values are found with all
rock types across this 50 meter wide area.
Highly anomalous gold values (100 to 10,000 ppb Au appear
to be associated with the following:
-7-
l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l l
A highly sheared and carbonatized zone with locally
well developed quartz - quartz carbonate stringers and
bands, as well as si l i ci fi ciation in argillite, wacke and iron formation.
Sulphide replacement, with arsenopyrite and pyrite pat
ches are important to gold concentration.
Consistently high anomalous values, 109 to 4465 ppb Au are found within the sheared iron formation along
this zone.
A set of quartz and quartz ankerite filled fracture
shears obliquely cut the sheared wackes in the N.W. part of the stripped area. Gold appears to be precip
itating along the fracture margins providing gold values which range from 472 ppb Au to 1.865 oz Au/ton.
Situated at the north edge of the stripped area.
Here strongly carbonatized shearing in iron formation
and hematitic argillite coupled with 2-10!S pyrite
replacement and quartz stringering provides for anom alous gold (197 ppb Au to 1365 ppb Au).

Interpretation of compiled magnetic and V.L.F. survey results
shows the 1990 sampled area located to the Immediate south of two major E.-W. trending iron formations. Probable sul
phide horizons - V.L.F. anomalies are also located in this north area.
Iron formations and V.L.F. conductors - sulphide horizons
are disrupted by inferred (magnetics) E.-N.E. and W.-N.Wshears. This same set of shear trends is the focus of theanomalous gold values in the 1990 sampled area.
Going to the regional scale; the Watson Lake and the subsid iary Nissiankikam Faults both show E.-N.E. - W.-N.W. aspects.
Both structures also host gold showings. The Nissiankikam Fault, which trends through the Houghton - 801 Option is
host to the Solomon Pillars Gold Mine. Here, shearing with silicification - carbonatization in iron formation with arse nopyrite - pyrite replacement is host to a series of gold
mineralized lenses.
I think the obvious conclusion here is that areas of inferred
E.-N.E., W.-N.W shears in the north iron formations and V.L.F. conductors should be a priority area for replacement sulphide
- gold in shear type mineralization.
The anomalous gold values in structures located in the showing
area as well as the Solomon Pillars occurrence would be the
exploration model.

l The good potential for economic gold mineral concentrations
along E.-N.E.; W.-N.W. shears in iron formations is clearly
l shown for the Houghton 801 Property.
I An initial programme of prospecting, soil sampling for gold and mapping are recommended. Follow up power stripping -
sampling and possible I.R. survey would be part of a second
phase. The visualized results of these two phases should provide for diamond drill targets in the medium term.
