What is the Kyoto Protocol?

• Kyoto Protocol is a plan to try reduce the effects of climate changes, such as global warming

• For example: The plan says to the countries that try to reduce the carbon dioxide and the greenhouse gases

Consequences and benefits

• On 2009, 183 countries agreed to follow the Kyoto Protocol

Climate changes

• The Usa reduced 7% • The European Union reduced 8%• Russia reduced 0%• Japan reduced 6%• Canada reduced 6%• But, Australia increased 8%

Nowadays

• As of September 2011, 191 states have signed and ratified the protocol.

• Under the Kyoto Protocol, 37 industrialized countries and the European Community (the European Union-15, made up of 15 states at the time of the Kyoto negotiations) commit themselves to binding targets for GHG emissions.
