Usal Forest 127,000 ha. Responsible for the effective supervision and administration of the
Usal Redwood Forest Company including budget preparation and monitoring; development of
capital equipment plans; purchasing and financial transactions to include timber harvesting
contracts; preparation of reports; developing and recommending policies and procedures
related to forest and natural resources management; performance management; employee
relations; prioritizing and assigning work and related activities. Provide advice and
professional guidance to the RFFI President/CEO on Usal Forest property management
decisions.
Forestry Advisor, Nevada Irrigation District, Grass Valley, CA. 2015. Fee lands 25,900 ha.
Use a geospatial modeling to improved understanding of the current conditions of the forest
and make recommendations for potential management actions that are necessary to reduce the
threat of catastrophic wildfire, enhance water yield and capture the economic value through the
sale of forest products, and/or carbon credits. Geospatial modeling analysis will include
routines executed within a GIS platform to quantitatively assess the amount and distribution of
forest products, biomass, and carbon available in the study area(s) including cost modeling to
optimize profitability.
Forest Health Timber Harvest & Environmental Impact Report, Squaw Valley Resort,
Olympic Valley, CA. 2012 to present. Designed and implemented a sustainable forestry
program to improve forest health, increase snow loading and water yield.

Designed a sustainable forestry program and ecosystem restoration plan that protects the

wildfire. Designed and implemented forest inventory stratified by forest type and
successional stage relative to land area; identified degree of fragmentation of forest types,
conducted forest health analysis establish baseline scenario and growth modeling for GHG
offsets and fire hazard reduction. Designed and delivered field and technical training to carry
out the multi-purpose forest inventory.
GIS Biomass Analyst, Northern Sierra Biomass Initiative, Sierra Business Council,
Truckee, CA. 2011. Designed and implemented a 7.2 million hectare GIS biomass feedstock
analysis and monitoring system for a clean energy project; identifying ownership, vegetation
types, fire threat, past harvesting, carbon stock change, the degree of fragmentation of forest
types, biomass estimates, areas of biologically and cultural sensitivity.

Provided training, policy analysis, and research to foster excellence in forest stewardship;
worked to improve forestry on private lands with programs that develop and demonstrate

Technical Expert - Biomass Energy Project, United Nations Development Program/Global
Environment Facility (GEF), Republic of Georgia, 2010/2011. Provided assistance to the
national government with the implementation and development of a clean energy biomass
market; prepared a pre-feasibility study and business plan with the objective of leveraging
private sector investment; recommended policies for the promotion, local production and
utilization of pelletized biomass fuel; prepared a project preparatory grant for a medium-size
project and received GEF CEO endorsement; established a monitoring system, including a
system for monitoring and reporting of CO2 sequestered emission reduction.

Bank/Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency - Republic of Armenia, 2008.
Supported the government of Armenia with policy and institutional reform and restructuring
of the Armenian forestry sector; prepared Forestry Training Center activity plan; prepared
Forestry Training Center marketing plan; designed and delivered forestry curriculum and
technical training; defined Forestry Training Center’s staff tasks and competencies, proposed
financing mechanisms and budget.
Technical Assistance Specialist - Multi-Use Forest Recreation and Natural Resource
Management Plan, Escuela Nacional de Ciencias Forestales (ESNACIFOR), USAID,
Republic of Honduras, 2005. Evaluated and advised on alternative use methods of forest
management, developed training modules for students; developed the management plans
long-term projections; conducted outreach throughout the forest and rural areas to determine
the eco-tourism market potential.
Smallholder Timber Production & Marking Specialist - Enterprise Development, USAID,
ICRAF, World Agroforestry Center, Bogor, Republic of Indonesia, 2005. Conducted an
evaluation of the smallholder’s agro-forestry timber production systems and provided
technical assistance for improving the productivity and profitability for smallholders.
Technical Assistance Specialist - Enterprise Development, Secondary Wood Processing
Feasibility Analysis, USAID, Republic of Guinea, 2004. Provided technical advice and
recommendations for the types of sawmill operations need to meet the market demand;
developed a cash flow analysis identifying expense & revenue for each step - acquisition,
logging, milling, transportation, and sales; identify potential financing.
Market Analyst – Japanese Lumber, USAID, Sakhalin Region, Russia, 2003. Determined
the Sakhalin Association of Forest Products Processors position in the Japanese lumber
market; designed and prepared a plan for market penetration which included lumber
dimensions, quality and grade specification, and unit preparation; managed the preparation of
participants for a trade tour of Japanese vendors.
CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTRY AND FIRE PROTECTION-CAL FIRE,
Forestry Assistance Specialist, Nevada City, CA. 2004 to 2006.
Organized and coordinated the planning, permitting, implementation, auditing and monitoring of
over twenty forest health and community fuels management projects.
Accomplishments: Secured approximately $1.7 million (USD) of the $2.0 million (USD)
statewide allocation of Proposition 40 grant funding for smallholder and community projects
during the last half of the 04/05 fiscal year by setting clear, measurable objectives, identifying
and integrating the key lessons learned in the permitting, implementation, and the auditing
process.
