Volunteer of the Month
We want to take an opportunity to say thank you to our students who shared
their many talents with us over the summer. Great Job!!
Abby Powers is the daughter of our own RN, Nancy Powers. She is still living at
home with her parents and 2 younger sisters, Grace & Olivia.
Besides her love for the seniors, she has been taking dance for a number of years
and enjoys the exercise and fun.
She is in her 2nd year at UNBSJ, taking the education program with the possibility of being a
teacher one day. All the best in whatever you do - God Bless!
Megan O’Hara lives in the Quispamsis area with her mom. She has an older brother , Ryan who lives with his wife and baby girl “Ellie” in Alberta. Megan not
only helped out at KWCC but also at Kennebec Manor, our sister home.
She loves running, biking or hiking in the Saint John & surrounding area because,
“It’s so pretty”.
She is currently finishing her MA thesis in Gerontology focusing on family/friend caregivers
for older adults & provincial supports available to them. Congratulations & God Bless!
Laurin Perrin lives in the Rothesay area with her parents and older brother, Luke.
At the moment, Laurin is taking her BSC in environmental science at Mount Allison University. During the past summer she represented Team New
Brunswick at the National Lacrosse Championships. Great job - God bless!

KWCC is holding the annual Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct 26th From 1PM-3PM. Please sign up at the reception desk if you are coming and how many children or grandchildren you are bringing. The residents love to see the costumes and hand out treats. Also, a tour of the “spooky hallway” will happen again this year.
Donations of treats would be greatly appreciated!
We are in Urgent Need of Volunteer Bus Drivers!!
Presently we have two retired firemen: Brian Jensen and Larry
Greer who are always quick to sit in the driver’s seat.
Unfortunately, we are so active, we could use a few more. Just 1-2 times a month would make a world of difference and give our
current volunteers some assistance.
The requirements are to have a Class 4 drivers license, a sense of humour and a
few spare hours.
For further information, please call Carol at 847-1131, ext. 2340.

Bulk Food Purchasing Program
The Foundation is very excited to inform our staff, residents’ families & volunteers that we will now
have a bulk buying program from one of our food suppliers – Sysco. Here is how it will work:
1. Place your order at Reception. Simply check off the item and quantity.
2. Pay for your purchase at time of order.
3. Orders will be placed twice a month –approximately the 15th and end of month for those items
that are paid for.
4. Items will be delivered and you will be responsible for picking up from the Kitchen within a day
or so of delivery due to freezer space.
5. If quantities are too large, perhaps consider sharing with a friend or co-worker.
Congratulations to KV Drugs
Congratulations to KV Drugs as our new pharmacy supplier for both our homes, KWCC & KMI. By further streamlining our operations, our residents and staff will soon benefit from this service. With the support of KV Drugs, this year we will be able to transition too a better medication administration system as well as electronic documentation of
medications...providing even safer medication management.
As well, all staff will now have access to a group purchasing discount program.
Resident billing will continue to be processed through KV Drugs. If you would like to speak
to a representative at KV Drugs, please contact Kelly Hebert at 847-7581.

We all remember that feeling of receiving a gift and opening it up on Christmas
morning. The excitement, wonder, curiosity, joy and that feeling of love.
Knowing someone cared enough about you that they gave you a gift. A gift of love.
