What started out as a small team of three employees working on a plant area of 150 sqm is today an internationally operative group of com-

panies for innovative suspension systems. KW today employs more than 200 employees at several subsidiaries and has a plant area exceeding 16.000 sqm. Innovation, permanent developments and latest technologies ensure compe-

titiveness of our products. A main focus in the headquarters of Fichtenberg, Ger-many is the research and development. More than 18 employees are working per-manently on new suspension and dam-ping solutions as well as the continuously further development of existing products. All components pass a series of compre-hensive testing procedures to meet the

highest quality standards. In 2006 an ultra-modern hydraulic 7-post-dyno test facility has been installed. KW now utilizes this lea-ding edge technology to design and test KW’s performance street line of coilovers in a controlled environment. Outfit with the latest in CNC manufacturing equipment, our in-house manufacturing facilities offer our customers fast and flexible service that guarantee results. Product assembly is coordinated across individual special-

ty stations where our experienced team members ensure the highest industry stan-dards are followed. From proto types to series line production, our assembly team reacts quickly and efficiently to meet our customers needs. The race suspension program KW Competition has beendeveloped for national and international motorsport.

Our 3-way adjustable racing shock absorber represents the latest solution in mono-tube technology. Fea-turing separate reservoirs, the system is designed to be used in professional Motorsport. We offer solutions for almost every level of competition: circuit road racing, slalom, hill climb, rallye, rallye cross and single seater.

Our KW 2-way adjustable shock absorber is based on the twin tube damping design. The rebound and com-pression damping is independently adjustable at the end of the piston rod and the lower end of the damper housing. The KW 2-way damping system enables us to equip race cars, prototype cars, and exotic custom cars with a high-class, custom-made damping solution. Our KW 2-way dampers can be installed with a maximum inclination of 45°. More inclination or horizontal mounting is possible if stated on the order.

More than 2.500 coilover applications are available for mostly all vehicle

models. We offer KW coilovers in six diffe-rent versions. Perfect performance in com-bination with individually adjustable lowe-ring has been the origin of KW’s research & development. Innovative solutions, many

research processes, several testing kilome-tres, CAD constructions as well as perma-nent further product developments made KW a leading suspension manufacturer. Every detail of a KW coilover has been advanced permanently, which implicated optical and technical improvements. There

are six different coilover versions available:KW coilovers with three different dampe-ning technologies, KW Street Comfort for a better driving comfort, KW Clubsport for grassroots motorsports.

An optimal performance, individual lowering and outstanding driving dy-namics, these are the characteristics of a KW coilover kit, and that’s what we are standing for! For each vehicle class and any kind of application, KW offers an optimally preset suspension, either comforta-ble or sportive and performance-oriented. This ambitious objective is achieved by applying our innova-tive patented KW technology and independently adjustable rebound and compression dampening. Our

dampers are therefore based on the twin tube technology. Both the mono tube and also the twin tube damping system have their advantages and disadvantages which can become crucial depending on the individual application and requirement. We at KW have made a conscious decisi-on for the twin tube technology, as separating the valves into rebound and compression phases offers signi-fi cantly more possibilities to create dif-ferent damping characteristics and moreover an independent adjust-

ment of damping forces is essential for optimal performance and driving dynamics. We are using these und-oubted advantages of this technolo-gy for our setup philosophy. With our sophisticated low speed adjustment we are able to control initial tyre load. This interaction, for example, is direct-ly related to driving dynamics and behaviour. Thus, our patented com-pression valve allows our customers to adjust the highly important Low-Speed compression damping over a wide and very effi cient range, without

having any negative effects on the High-Speed pressure damping values which are important for comfort and safety. By applying this two-phase compression valve technology, two normally incompatible characteristics can be uniquely combined: dynamic & driving comfort. Completely inde-pendent from our V3 compression adjustment technology, our rebound forces can be also adjusted. Therefo-re the body motion can be individu-ally adjusted to the road characteri-stics. The fact that the rebound and

Our modular sealing system exceeds OEM standards. It can be opened easily and allows customized adjustments of the valve technology or rod/piston stroke by an aluminium nut.

Adjustable top mounts of high tensile aluminium alloy are optionally available for our KW clubsport kits. A unique sealing system avoids intrusion of water as well as dirt into the clear and preloaded spherical bearing and therefore prevents corrosion and abrasion.

The extremely light spring seats made of polyamide composite material are corrosion resistant and are easily adjustable by the trapezoid thread even under spring preload.

KW HYDRAULIC

LIFT SYSTEMThe HLS provides additional road clearance for lowered vehicles. When ex-

panded, a range of up to 45 mm of lift is produced, thereby helping sport cars avoid road clearance diffi culties such as speed bumps, road construc-tion, etc. KW HLS is available as vehicle specifi c solution or individual conversi-on kit depending on the car model.

Can be activated from inside the vehicle via a LED position control switch or by an optional remote, thereby eliminating any need for interior wiring

HLS is available in two different versions: HLS 2 which is fi tted to the front axle and HLS 4 which can be attached to the front and rear axle and allows lifting the entire vehicle. The hydraulic cylinder unit is located on the coilover body between spring perch and spring. The advantage of a hydraulic system is that there is no compression (motion) of the extended cylinder unit (resulting in no unwanted additional suspension movement) while driving.

Depending on the car type and model, KW HLS is either available as a vehicle-specifi c solution or as a conversion kit for KW or OEM coilover kits existing of springs, adaptions, hydraulic cylinder and contol unit.

By using the optional available adjustable top mounts, the suspension geometry can be adjusted to the requirements of tires and the intended use. The mentioned adjustment options combined with the independently adjustable rebound and compression damping technology allow individual setup adjustments according to the vehicle load, tyre characteristics and different track conditions. KW Clubsport meets every demand regarding a coilover for the usage on the road and the race track. Coilover Spring Kits Improved optic and vehicle dynamics.

The KW coilover spring kit is used for lowering the vehicle in combination with the serial dampers, even when electronic damper control is installed. This lowering solution from KW optimises the dynamic perfor-mance and the steering behaviour without the electronic damper control deactivated. For this solution vehicle specifi c adjustable spring seats with adjusted KW lowering springs and the matching elastomer as well as the dust cover system will be used. This complete conversion allows an individual adjustable lowering solution.

KW Sport Shock Absorbers meet all claims of a modern high-performance damping system. All KW sport shock absorbers are specially developed with a sportive damping setting for road-use. KW engineers are using all their knowledge from suspension development and motorsport to fi nd a perfect setting during extensive road testings. The twin-tube gas shock absorbers are equipped with hardened, chrome-plated piston rods and offer ideal protection against stone chips and corrosion. A new innovati-ve monoblock rod guide and seal system raise the pressure resistance, reduce the friction and enhance the capability. The new working piston with V-shaped Tefl on seals reduce the friction losses to a minimum and ensure a high temperature-resistant and long-lasting damping system. All KW sport shock absorbers are equipped with a rebound (shortened stro-ke), assure optimum bore-stroke ratio and arrange pre-stressed springs. A big part of the rear axle shock absorbers is equipped with spring plates which are height adjustable by slots. This enables to vary the car height in 5 additional positions.

KW Sport Spring kits are suited to lower the car height up to 60 mm. Besides the improved look, the lowered centre of gravity contributes to increased agility and driving pleasure. KW sport spring kits with a lowering up to 40 mm could be used with standard shock absorbers. Generally, it is recom-mended to use sport shock absorbers. For a lowering of more than 40 mm the use of sport shock absorbers is required.
