Kvadrat Roller Blinds

Kvadrat Roller Blinds

The Kvadrat Roller Blinds system enables you to optimise your indoor climate and introduce beautiful textiles to interior spaces. It is designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

Constructed out of top quality, durable aluminium, the made-to-order system combines aesthetic and functional excellence. It allows you to control light levels, glare and temperature, and thereby ensure a consistently comfortable environment. Flexible design, versatile installationThe roller blinds are available with textiles that come in a versatile selection of colours. Furthermore, as design requirements develop, the textile can easily be changed.

Due to our patented fixing mechanism, Kvadrat Roller Blinds are easily fitted to walls and ceilings. Built to last, the system can be specified in chain-operated, switch-operated and remote-controllable versions.

Most windows require some form of light management system. Throughout the day, light and temperature levels can often vary by a great deal. This can happen quickly and frequently.

The Kvadrat Roller Blinds system enables you to manage fluctu-ating conditions and create a comfortable, aesthetic environment. It works by reflecting and absorbing light to provide control over:

ShadingIt is important to get the optimal illuminance level – usually somewhere between 1,500 and 500 lux depending on needs – and good contrast conditions.

Glare Dazzling glare is detrimental to a healthy environment and can significantly inhibit productivity and well-being. Often the subject of regulations, it can be direct or reflected, or sometimes both simultaneously.

Thermal comfortThe volume of sunlight entering an interior has a major impact on its temperature. Without a way to manage this, sunny days can quickly make rooms uncomfortably warm.

Individual needsAs light conditions change throughout the day, different areas of a space are affected in different ways. People need to be able to control light levels, and sometimes privacy, where they work and live.

The textiles for Kvadrat Roller Blinds have been tested according to the European standards EN 14500 and EN 14501 to ensure good technical performance. All test results are available on request.

Expert support

The Kvadrat Roller Blind system is flexible and easy to install. As there are no visible screws or hinges, the cassette seamlessly integrates with the interior.

Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the roller blinds have been developed with special attention to all details. The frame and textiles come in a choice of colours that makes it possible to give the system a discreet monochrome look – or create bold contrasts.

It is easy to change the textile at a later date, if required. Simply take out the roll and replace it – there is no need to dismount the cassette.

The textiles and the system come with a 2-year product guarantee and comply with all the relevant legislation, regulations and standards.

System specifications

InstallationAny vertical or horizontal surface, such as a ceiling, wall, beam or window frame.

Sizes The cassette comes in two sizes:

System 1 is suitable for blinds up to 180 cm wide and 300 cm long. It is chain-operated.

System 2 is suitable for blinds up to 300 cm wide and 360 cm long. It comes in both chain-operated and motorised versions.

We recommend that the width of the roller blind is at least 1/3 of the height (i.e. 1:3 ratio) as deviant proportions may cause crooked rolling and subsequently destroy the textile.

Colour options

The textiles available for the Kvadrat Roller Blinds offer different levels of control over light, thermal comfort and glare. Available in a versatile choice of colours, they can be specified to create contrasts with the frame, or alternatively, a discreet monochrome look.

Designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, the textiles offer a choice of weaves, flame-retardant materials and coatings. These characteristics ensure that each textile works with light in a unique way. For instance, there are dim-out textiles, textiles diffusing sunlight and textiles that reflect sunlight, yet still allow views of the outside.

Kvadrat Roller Blinds are made to last. The mechanical endurance has been tested according to the European standard EN 14201, a standard that tests the systems’ resistance to repeated operations during 10,000 cycles. This ensures that the roller blinds can be used for many years.

Furthermore, the textiles for Kvadrat Roller Blinds are GREENGUARD and GREENGUARD Gold certified. Only interior products with low chemical emissions, which contribute to improving the quality of the air and thereby creating healthier interiors, are granted these certifications. Textiles with the GREENGUARD Gold certification are particularly suited for environments were people spend extended periods of time, such as schools, healthcare facilities and offices.

Using GREENGUARD certified textiles can help achieve LEED credit for building ratings.

Sustainability

The Kvadrat Roller Blind system has been certified by ift Rosenheim, a specialised testing institute, and meets the revised European standard EN 13120:2009. This covers the performance and safety requirements for internal blinds.

Chain-operated versions of the system can be delivered with a child safety wall piece. This must be used wherever children may be present. To avoid any risk of strangulation, this must be fixed to the wall so the loop of the chain can be closed.

Motorised versions of the system pose no risk to children.
