  • 7CHAPTER 2: Overview

    2. OverviewUse the ServSwitch Micro to access twocomputers from a single shared monitor,keyboard, and mouse. Two high-quality,6-ft. (1.8-m) integral coaxial cables providethe connections to the two computers.

    Three models are available. They vary onlyin the number and type of connectors. Seethe Connectors specification in Chapter 1.

    All models are plug and play and can becomputer selected for easy setup andinstallation. They also have two status LEDsand advanced video enhancementtechnology for crisp, clear VGA quality upto 1920 x 1440. Computer switching isflawless, and PC startup is trouble-free.

    3. InstallationFigure 3-1 shows a typical application.Follow the instructions on the next twopages to install the ServSwitch Micro.

    1. Power off both computers.

    2. Connect, in order, the mouseconnector, keyboard connector, andmonitor connector to one compu-ters respective ports. Start byattaching the 6-pin mini-DINconnectors to the computerskeyboard and mouse ports. (Themini-DIN connectors are color-coded; mate the connectors with thesame color. The purple connectorattaches to the keyboard and thegreen connector attaches to themouse.)

    Next, attach the adjoining HD15connector to the computers HD15video port.

    3. Repeat step 2, only this time connectthe ServSwitch Micro to the secondcomputer.

    4. Connect your keyboard, mouse, andVGA monitor to the two 6-pin mini-DIN connectors and one HD15connector on the ServSwitch Microsuser end.

    CHAPTER 4: Operation

    4. Operation 4.1 LED Indicators

    Two LEDs indicate the ServSwitch Microsstatus. When the LED is lit, the computerconnected to the associated port is active.In AutoScan mode, the keyboards ScrollLock should be flashing.

    4.2 Hotkey Commands

    The ServSwitch Micro selects computersusing hotkey commands. These aresummarized in Table 4-1.
