Apakah air limbah itu?

Air limbah adalah air yang telah digunakan oleh

manusia yang sudah berubah karakter fisik dan

kimiawinya

Apakah sajakah yang terkandung dalam air limbah?

Air limbah mengandung:

padatan tersuspensi, padatan terlarut, bahan

organik, nutrisi, bakteri pathogen, zat beracun, dll.

•Berpotensi bahaya bagi kehidupan

akuatik: ikan punah, mutasi, dll

•Berbahaya bagi kesehatan

manusia: diare, cacingan, dll

•Menimbulkan problem estetis:

menimbulkan bau, endapan, dll

Pengolahan Pendahuluan: bertujuan untuk menghilangkan

bahan padatan dari air limbah (mekanis)

Pengolahan Kedua: bertujuan untuk menghilangkan

polutan organik (biasanya biologis)

Pengolahan Ketiga: bertujuan untuk memperbaiki

kualias air hasil dari pengolahan kedua agar sesuai

dengan peraturan yang ada (biologis atau kimiawi).
