    PROFILE OF KUKAS

    Kukasis one of the important settlement of south of Jaipur region. It is one of the Village

    in Amber Mandal in Jaipur District in Rajasthan State . It is located at 2702'30" North

    latitude and 7554'12" East longitude, a distanced 30 K.M. from Jaipur on National

    highway No.8. It is 16 km far from its walled city of Jaipur . It is located 6.8 km distance

    from its Mandal Main Town Amber . The Aravalli ranges surround the settlement. The

    settlement comes under Amer panchayat samiti.

    Near By Villages of this Village with

    distance are Amber(.7 k.m.) ,Natata(3.6

    k.m.) ,Nangal Susawatan(4 k.m.) ,KhoraMeena(4.3 k.m.) ,Saiwar(5.8 k.m.).

    Nearest towns are Amber(6.8 k.m.)

    ,Jamwa Ramgarh(12.2 k.m.) ,Jaipur(15.8

    k.m.) ,Jhotwara(17.5 k.m.). Amber ,

    Akhepura , Anop Pura , Barna , Beelpur ,

    Bhoorthal are the villages along with

    this village in the same Amber Mandal.

    Its location mark a significance role as it

    lies on the NH 8 (Delhi-Jaipur-Ajmer) -

    Chandwaji Achrol Kukas Bagru .

    Kukas is divided into

    two parts ie Kukas

    West and Kukas East

    which is divided on

    the basis of NH-8

    which is going in

    between. Kukas West

    started growing

    towards the road

    from its core. It

    further startedgrowing beyond the

    main highway road.

    Kukas settlement is one of the important education centre of the Jaipur region. The

    proposed plan expand the horizon of the role of RIICO in developing it further. There

    are number of hotels emerged on the east of kukas.

    The growth of Kukas west remain within the

    developed area after 2004.

    The development along Nh-8 took place on

    the village periphery.

    Some structures evolved after 2009, in Kukas

    east along the road, which was towards the

    Kukas West village.

    The core of the village was away from

    the national highway but it grew

    towards the highway and also expandedbeyond the road.

    The development along the road

    resulted into coming up of banks, shops.

    There are clinics, Forest office, petrol

    pump, temple on the main road, which

    is a potential for the village economic

    growth.

    The land beyond the road is used by

    RIICO for industries and their housing,

    and some major hotel groups have

    emerged. The development pace is high

    here as land prices are getting higher.

    Many large scale industries and hotels

    group are mushrooming all around it with

    few projects already constructed and

    many on the pipeline. This is eventually

    changing the skyline of this area.

    There are many shops in the residential areas and on the road outside the village, which

    generates the income. They also generate the income by renting the houses. This shows the

    need of additional source of income for the residents. Large number of people from this

    area commute everyday to the nearby industrial area and hotels for work. The people also

    commute to Jaipur city as it is well connected through NH-8.

    Kukas settlement is one of the important education centre of the Jaipur region. The

    proposed plan expand the horizon of the role of RIICO in developing it further. Inputs have

    been given in the proposed plan to meet the existing and future needs of the settlement.

    The population of Kukas is 2947 person as per

    2001 census as against a figure of 1534 in 1981

    and 2216 in 1991 thereby showing a growth ratesof 44.46% and 32.99% of respectively last two

    decades.

    Total number of house holds is 407 with an

    average house hold size of 7.24 as per 2001

    census.

    The character of Kukas village can be defined as

    semi urban.

    It is famous for

    institutions and

    developed industrialarea by RIICO near the

    old settlement.

    ANALYSIS OF SURVEYS

    The nature of dwellings in Kukas is majorly the residences with single floor. The new construction can

    be found with dual occupancy, while very few are more than 2 floor.

    The structures majorly are semi- detached but as we get inside the village is scattered with detached

    housing typology. The structures are mainly semi-detached as we move outside the village towards

    road.

    Most of the people have ancestral property and are living for more than 20 years. People who are living

    for 5-10 years include those who have built new houses in the same village with increased in daily

    needs.

    Few people from Jaipur city also comes to the village for commercial activity. Shops are being given on

    rental purpose in the village.

    The profile of houses in village is almost good, there are some new constructions going on in the village also.The people of village are having income sources as jobs and labourers in the nearby hotels and colleges. Few

    people rely on Jaipur city for their income source as shops. So, many people fall in the category of 10 to 20

    thousand income group. Some of the people who are in government services are in 30 thousand income

    category.

    Majority of the people own two wheelers and only 14 percent of the people own four wheelers which they

    use to travel to move to workplaces in jaipur.

    There is public water supply in the village .

    The water is supplied by PHED from ground water sources. Besides that there are few hand pumps, open

    well and tube wells in the area.

    There is no sewerage system in the settlement and houses having toilet facilities have their own pit or

    septic tanks.

    The electricity supply to the settlement is from the 33 KV electric sub-station by JVVNL.

    The Drains are almost open, and only few are closed which was being covered by the government and that

    too done only in few parts of the villages. The drains are never get cleaned. There is no cleanliness in the

    village and people do the work themselves. There is no any agency which comes for cleaning of the drains.

    There are soakpits in the village and no sewer lines are there yet. Village have street lights in the some

    areas like approach road, near the school and those are operational , otherwise many streetlights provided

    in Kukas east are non-operational.

    The transmission lines are overhead . The roads need some attention in terms of planning as the condition

    of roads is not good, they are not being cleaned and maintained. Cars and other vehicles cannot pass due to

    garbage on the streets and alignments.

    SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE

    Kookas settlement is one of the important education centre of the Jaipur rigion. One senior

    secondary school, 2 Middle school and one primary school are Govt level. 6 Engineering

    colleges are factioning at private level.

    The proposed plan expand the horizon of the role of RIICO in developing it further. Inputs

    have been given in the proposed plan to meet the existing and future needs of the

    settlement.

    Tourism The location of Kukas is

    prominent due to Jaipur-Delhi

    highway and there is no tourismfacility in the village.

    To promote the economy of village,

    tourism can be encouraged by

    promoting the desert ride and makingKookas as hub for tourists stoppage

    point in the travel.

    Roads The condition of roads in the

    village is not good in terms of its

    maintenance. The commercial

    activity in the approach road of

    village is having some

    encroachment.

    In this village, the roads need to be

    improved. Few of the village roads are

    access roads for another village ie

    kachere waale gaon. So these need to

    be well maintained.

    Employment

    Centre

    The women of village have

    potential of doing handcrafted

    work, stitching, packaging etc but

    there is no such place or

    workplace where they can go and

    do some job.

    If the village promote such activity,

    there could be advancement in

    economic condition of people as well

    as advancement in womensawareness

    and skills.

    BasicInfrastructure

    It severely lacks in the physicalinfrastructure facilities like water

    supply, sanitation, sewerage.

    There is need to provide with basicinfrastructure facilities in Kukas.

    which will use the potential of people of the village who do not move

    outside the village and village can be self sustained.Basic

    There is need to provide with basic infrastructure facilities in Kukas. Roads

    should be improved and there should be street lights.
