Talk about smooth sailing, that’s

what we had a couple of weeks

ago in the new 2014 Lexus

IS350 four-door sedan. Yes luxu-

ry at its best and a whole lot of

fun to go along with it. Plus the

economics weren’t bad either.

To start with the new Lexus

IS350 sedan came with proven

3.6 Liter V6 engine 24-valve

DOHC Direct & port injection

with variable valve timing

cranking out 308 horsepower

and 277 pounds per foot of

torque. This engine mated to a

eight-speed automatic transmis-

sion with paddle shifters and

drive mode select Economic,

Normal, Sport and Snow. I’d

say they just about got it all cov-

ered when you consider it sits on

a Double Wishbone front and

multi-link rear suspension. With

Vehicle Dynamics integrated

management, ABS,EBD and

Brake Assist to boot. All this

rolls smoothly but powerful to

the pavement on P 225/45R 17

inch All-Season tires neatly

wrapped around Aluminum

Wheels. You know right off the

bat if things are going well

because the vehicle has location

specific tire pressure monitoring

system.

Seeing down the road on dark

nights have never been better

due to the High Intensity

Discharge Headlamps and low

and high beams LED daytime

running lights.

When you are looking at the

new Lexus from the rear you’ll

notice the chrome tips of the

dual exhaust system.

Inside you are certainly in

Luxury automobile Heaven start-

ing with a power Tilt/Slide moon

roof with one-touch open/close.

Smart/access with pus button

stat/stop technology. As the list

grows to covers such features as

driver 10-way power seat with

two-way lumbar adjustments and

an eight-way seat for the front

passenger. The rear seats are

60/40 split and there is a multi-

information display in full color

including audio, phone and trip

information. Add in a Lexus

Premium display audio system

with HD radio with real-time

traffic and weather, Gracenote

album art, MP3 player USB

integration and Sirius XM

Satellite radio with 90 day free

trial. A Bluetooth system with

hands free phone and media

streaming is also available on

this model as standard equip-

ment.

When it comes to safety Lexus

got you covered with 10 air bags

Driver and front passenger front

knee and eight-side air bags

along with two side curtains. In

addition to all that for safety the

new Lexus also has a blind spot

monitor with rear cross-traffic

alert and auto-dimming exterior

mirrors. Our test model came

with a F Sport front bumper and

spindle grille and 18 inch F

Sport split five-spoke Wheels

and 18 tires 225 on the front and

summer 255 on the rear. That

tells you this baby is ready to hit

the race track if needed.

Another option feature is the

new Mark Levinson Premium

Audio with 5.1 Surround Sound

15-speaker 835 Watts output.

We are talking about quality

sounds at its best.

Let me please add the vehicle

gets 19 miles per gallon in the

city and 28 miles per gallon on

the highway.

Warranties for this new Lexus is

4 year/50,000 mile basic cover-

age and 8 year/70,000 power

train coverage plus eight-

year/unlimited miles perforation

warranty. Throw in 24 hour/

365 days per year roadside assis-

tance this baby has got you cov-

ered.

All of this comes at a price just

under $49,000 as equipped on

our test vehicle.

A NOTE FROM BISHOP JOE SIMON

I would like to thank the representatives from Wells Fargo and Bank of

America for releasing foreclosed properties on their books to non-profit

organizations. I would also like to thank representatives from Rainbow Push

Coalition, Bishop L.L. Jefferson, Overseer/Faith Memorial Church, Mission

Consortium of Churches International and the Dallas Metroplex community.

This program is now moving onto Houston, Texas and across America.

As trucks are big in Texas as

well as all over the country, the

new 2014 Sierra Texas Edition

Crew Cab SLT is going to be a

big hit. The modern day cowboy

wants to be able to knock the

dust of his truck and drive it to

church on Sunday mornings. In

order to do that and take the

family along you need the crew

cab version. Keep in mind we

are not talking about a stripped-

down work truck but a state of

the art vehicle with high ground

clearance to make you feel safe

in any kind of terrain. Indeed

the new truck stills manages to

get 16 miles per gallon in the

city and 22 miles on the high-

way. That’s with a powerful 5.3

liter V-8 engine with direct

injection and active fuel man-

agement, this baby still gives

you 355 horsepower and 383 lb-

ft of torque. In addition to that

the massive Hydra-matic 7L80

six-speed automatic transmission

still tows 9,600 pounds with a

3.42 axle and the max trailering

package hits 11,200 pounds.

With a 26 gallon fuel tank you

don’t have to worry about fuel-

ing this baby regularly either.

For those of you who recall the

years when automakers were

making smaller vehicle that day

is gone when it comes to full-

size luxury trucks. This baby

has a wheel base of 145.3 inch-

es and the overall length is 229.5

inches and a width of 80 inches.

Needless to say this baby takes

up some space and backs it with

a Max payload of 1,957 pounds

and a GVWT of 7,200.

GMC is standing tall beside this

vehicle with a schedules mainte-

nance warranty of 2 year/24,000

miles oil and filter, 4 wheel rota-

tion plus 24 hour roadside assis-

tance. A 5 year/100,000 mile

power train limited warranty.

That just goes to show how

much GMC believes in this

product.

The new GMC Sierra SLT had

40 percent of its parts from the

United States and Canada with

51 per cent from Mexico. While

both the engine and transmission

are built right in the United State

the finals assembly point is

Silao, GL Mexico.

Inside the huge cabin of this

Cowboy heavenly designed

vehicle you are greeted the com-

forts you know to expect from

Luxury touring sedans. Features

as power sunroof and audio sys-

tem eight-inch diagonal color

touch screen with navigation and

a Bose Sound system. Full

range leather appointed bucket

seats with heat and cool features.

Even the steering has audio con-

trols and is leather wrapped and

has tilt/telescopic features. There

is even a rear camera and three

free months of Sirius XM radio

but is sold separately after the

free trial period ends.

In closing please allow me to

add the Texas SLT Crew Cab

Value saves you $1000 but the

vehicle came in at 49,865.

Even though the original name

plate was released in late 1972

as a 1973 model, the Buick

Regal is back with a full head of

steam. The 1973 model sold

more than 91,000 units and

quickly established itself on the

market. Years later Buick would

make the Regal their first Turbo

and they added a V6 that had

comfortable V8 power while still

maintaining good fuel consump-

tion. But many things have

changed and still Buick Regal is

right up there rebuilding the

name so many American learned

to trust during the run of the GS

model in their Pace Car days.

We test drove the 2014 Regal

FWD Premium II group the

other day and found it to be a

great deal of fun. Powered by a

2.0 Liter Turbo 4-cylinder SIDI

cranking out 259 horsepower up

18 per cent from the 2013

model. This baby also tosses

out 295 pounds per foot of

torque and still manages 21

miles per gallon in the city and

30 miles per gallon on the high-

way. The number for the base

2.4 liter engine gets 25 in the

city and 36 on the highway.

Over the past four or five years

it’s clear GM is simply building

better product lines and

Americans are getting back

behind the wheel of GM prod-

ucts these days. Fact is with

such new styling one have to

look close to identify some of

these models due to their sweep-

ing styling changes.

More on the mechanicals of the

new Buick is it’s 6-speed auto-

matic transmission and electric

power steering with variable

assist. Ultrasonic rear park assist

and stability control system

complete with traction control.

Sure it has anti-locking brakes

with 4-wheel disc. Let us not

forget we are talking about fea-

tures normally found on more

expensive import luxury sedans.

This is all with 66 percent of its

parts from right here in the U S

and Canada with the Engine and

Transmission both built in the

United States. The final assem-

bly point for the Buick is

Oshawa, On. Canada.

Inside the Buick Regal you take

a stroll down memory lane with

front bucket seats and that along

should jog your memory of the

good old’ days. But new features

like power windows with

express down and express fea-

ture for both front and rear win-

dows. You are quickly reminded

just how much though Buick put

into this product line.

The driver is pleased to learn

Regal has an 8-way power

adjustable seat and so does the

front passenger complete with 4-

way lumbar. By the way the

front seats are also equipped

with heat feature and so is the

steering wheel.

Optional is a Bose Premium 9-

speaker system with CD player

and select Bluetooth Streaming.

Warranties are great for the new

Buick as they offers 4-

year/50,000 bumper to bumper

warranty plus 6-year/70,000

power train limited warranty and

scheduled maintenance 2

year/24,000 miles oil and filer,

4-wheel tire rotation see dealers

more details.

So if you are rolling down the

freeway and just happen to spot

a nice looking mid-size vehicle

with dual exhaust and fancy slat-

ed grille and a neat looking deck

lid. Take a closer look because

it could be the new Buick Regal!

BUICK REGAL MAKING A NEW NAME IN THE MARKET PLACEBy King Arthur Prayther

A King-Size View

The 2014 Buick Regal

We often make a plan whether

it’s a 2 year, 5 year or life plan.

But there is no way to factor in

the detours that we will face in

life...no way to properly prepare

yourself when we are faced with

challenges.

Often times when our lives are

working out even close to what

we’ve planned we often forget

what it was like when we didn’t

have a plan or our lives were

awry. We get tunnel vision and

can’t seem to see or feel what

our neighbor, or friends are

experiencing when their lives

are not quite on track.

We ask politely how are you

doing but never really listen to

the answer. It’s done out of

courtesy but not as if you are

really reaching out to offer help.

If you can just briefly put your-

self in someone else’s shoes and

just for a moment see things

from their perspective maybe

then you can honestly ask and

listen to the answer when you

ask “how are you doing”?

You can have a nice nest egg put

away but one major illness can

wipe out your account complete-

ly.

You can have a beautiful home

and car until one job cut could

bring you to living at almost

poverty level.

You can have the best relation-

ship until tragedy strikes and

you find yourself alone.

People may discriminate, but life

doesn’t.

I’m simply asking you to put

yourself in someone else’s shoes

before you are quick to judge

them or cast them out as simply

being lazy, not motivated or not

easy to be around. You never

know how you would handle a

situation until you are actually in

it. So, take time be considerate

and most importantly choose

your words gingerly before

speaking, someone just might be

at there tipping point.

Know that everyone’s situation

is only one moment away from

changing whether good or bad.

No man is an island unto him-

self. ~ John Donne

If you read this space last month

you know I am involved in the

restoration of the Camptown

Cemetery in Brenham. We

returned in November for the

last work party of the year.

During the day we unearthed

some very historic graves,

including the Issac Family. The

Issacs were a big influence on

the Rose Hill Church and the

general area around Brenham.

We also learned that Texas A &

M University started mapping

the area with Ground

Penetrating Radar. An area

about 50 feet by 50 feet was

mapped. A very unusual discov-

ery was made. It seems that a

cannon was buried around the

time of the Civil War. Although

nothing is known about the can-

non, it was probably buried by

the Confederates to keep it out

of the hands on the union Army.

It will be exhumed and exam-

ined after the GPR project is

completed.

The GPR project will take about

three years to complete and it is

dependent upon the grounds

being cleared. Another discov-

ery is that of a grave, bordered

by a wrought iron fence. The

stone is destroyed and the iden-

tity of the deceased is unknown.

Inside the fence is an enameled

cup that may have been the field

cup of a slave.

To date over 120 bottles have

been found in the cemetery.

Some of these date back to the

mid 1800’s. Bottles are fairly

easy to date die to manufacturer

markers and other indicators.

There will be a permanent dis-

play at the museum to explain

the importance of these artifacts.

This is an incredible site and the

history is just starting to unfold.

What is needed the most now is

help clearing the area. It is slow

work as some of the growth is

over 100 years old. The last

work party used about 25 peo-

ple. We cut with saws and brush

trimmers then stacked the brush.

If there are any groups out there

looking for a physically

demanding but extremely

rewarding community service

project, contact the Brenham

Heritage Museum at 979-

830.8445. They will be able to

tell you when the next work day

is scheduled and how you can

get involved. This is a perfect

project for a scout troop or

youth organization that would

like to learn about the history of

our area while helping preserve

it.

The 2013 Studewood Cobras

flag team remained unbeaten

throughout the regular season

and into the playoffs. After

beating the Giants in overtime

they are still unbeaten! The

Super Bowl was postponed until

Saturday December 7, 2013 at

Aldine Junior football stadium.

It will be chance for the Flag

team to complete their season

and win the title.

The flag head coach Clourid

Johnson is looking forward to

putting his twins Kelyn and

Kamron Washom into the game

as they have hooked up for sev-

eral touchdowns this season in

the air. Yes we meant to say two

six-year old twins connecting

through the air for scores.

Another standout player on the

flag team is J.J. Martin who

grabbed the last flag to seal the

overtime win and send the

Cobra to the Super Bowl. He has

played well all season.

The Freshman squad is coached

by the legendary Walter Penrice

and he is excited about this team

this year and they have only one

loss this year. With a full group

of boys Penrice feels this is one

of his better teams in years and

they are ready for action.

They’ve had to win three playoff

games in order to reach the

finals they are ready to roll.

Both the JV and Varsity teams

lost in the conference finals but

will be in action on what they

are calling The Cotton Bowl, a

first for the league.

November brings about the

winding down of the regular col-

lege football season. And then

there is the crossover into bas-

ketball season. But, keeping

with football, it brings about an

urgency to winning during the

month of November...either

toward a conference champi-

onship or to get to a bowl game.

So let’s get with it.

With four Div 1 football pro-

gram options in the Houston

area. If someone had told me

that the local college football

season would have gone like it

has, I probably would not have

believed them. An upstart pro-

gram finished with a better

record than a program that’s

been around awhile. Even

though it was an abbreviated

schedule, (3-4) vs 2-9), the play-

ing field was basically the same.

Yes, I’m talking about HBU vs

TSU. FCS schools, Southland-

SWAC. Both schools will have a

full recruiting season, spring

workouts, scholarships, going

into next season. Are they two

ships headed in the same direc-

tion or, are they just passing

each other in the night? Only

time will tell. One had a suc-

cessful venture this season while

the other was not able to over-

come the obstacles in front of

them. This brings about another

familiarity of these two pro-

grams: tiered talent in the area,

an abundance of it. With the Div

1 - 4 options, two Div 1-A

(Houston, Rice) and two Div 1-

AA (HBU, TSU), that’s a lot of

football scholarships available in

the city. At minimum 85 (FBS)

twice and 63 (FCS) at the other

two.

Looking at the records of this

season, shouldn’t be a measure

of HBU and TSU. But, their ros-

ters give a better insight of

where they are going. For HBU,

only 3 on the roster of 99 are

from outside of Texas. Everyone

else is from within. Meanwhile,

TSU has 34 on the roster that

are from TX. Those numbers,

are what I will use as a judge as

to the success of these two pro-

grams going forward. Why?

Because recruiting will fuel

them both, especially with facili-

ties at both schools being what

they are. HBU has built a stadi

um on campus. Seating will be

added before the beginning of

next fall’s season as they move

into the Southland as a full

member. Signing day for both

programs will be very interest-

ing.

Moving on to Houston and Rice,

they’ve got their football lives

for this season’s aspirations still

in front of them. Well, at least

Rice does. They’ve still got a

chance at a conference title and

a bowl game in sight.

Meanwhile Houston has a bowl

game waiting for their accept-

ance. It was and is good to see

the success of both teams this

season given the changes in the

make up of Conference USA

(Rice) and the American

(Houston). The Cougars now sit

at 7-4(4-3), while the are Owls

8-3 (6-1). Rice’s outlook is bet-

ter with 1 regular season confer-

ence game to play (Tulane).

Less can be said of what hap-

pened to UH down the stretch.

Was it breaks that went toward

the Owls way? Or was it not

making stops when the Cougars

needed to? One thing is for sure,

both programs started out of the

gate fast, doing what they had to

do win games early. Now comes

November and teams have a

scouting report on you. Games

become a grind and a contest of

who can finish. Horseshoes be

damned, just get it done.

Consistency becomes a rallying

cry, for both coaches and play-

ers. “Win November, play in

December.” That is what the

Cougars and Owls are waiting

on. To play in December.

Next month I’ll get deeper into

the college basketball season.

Looks like it’s going to be

Cougars, Tigers, Huskies, and

Celts competing for attention

this this year, HARD.

REO Community DevelopmentPremiere Asset ServicesSM

Premiere Asset ServicesSM (PAS), a division of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, seeks to stabilize communities by partnering with municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and land banks. Wells Fargo provides sustainable homeownership opportunities for neighborhoods and communities by providing a first look to approved organizations and donating low-value properties.

Discounted and donated properties are transferred with all taxes paid current and liens satisfied. Properties not sold through the first look program or donation are typically repaired and marketed to owner occupants to further stabilize communities.

The National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST), a nonprofit partner of PAS, conducts all organizational vetting, on boarding, and provides tools for the acquisition process. After an organization is approved, they work in conjunction with the NCST and Wells Fargo to acquire properties via the donation program or the NCST First Look Program.

Nonprofit application process for first look and donationsNCST inquiries and application requests should be sent to [email protected]. To review basic eligibility requirements, please visit www.stabilizationtrust.com.

Specific inquires regarding PAS REO Community Development should be sent to [email protected].

Locating a property Approved organizations work with the NCST to identify, review, and accept properties using market analysis and online resources.

Organizations working outside of the NCST and owner-occupants can search for properties at reo.wellsfargo.com and have the ability to set property alerts.

Home buyer priority periodIf all qualifying first look buyers pass on a property, and it is determined not to be a donation candidate, it is listed for sale and is available for review on reo.wellsfargo.com. PAS gives owner-occupant buyers the opportunity to purchase their next home without competition from buyers not intending to occupy the property by establishing a homeowner priority period on all listings:

No offers will be considered during the first seven calendar days a home is listed.

Offers from buyers intending to occupy the property as their primary residence, nonprofits, municipalities, will be considered.

Offers from all buyers will be considered.

The Lamar Redskins rolled over

Alief Taylor 36-0 to advance to

another showdown with

Pearland. The Redskins scored

following two pass completions

to receiver Shelby Walker that

setup Ronnie Wesley’s one yard

dive for the game’s first score.

We spoke with Shelby; “we ran

across the middle and Darrell

and I were on the same page

because we ran that play so

many times in practice”. Shelby

was talking about his 34 yard

scoring pass from Colbert in the

third period. He went on to talk

about just how good this Lamar

team could be. “If we continue

to follow our coaching and work

hard in practice we can be the

best team in Texas and perhaps

the country”. We asked him

about the trip to Dallas Cowboys

Stadium. “It was a great experi-

ence for me being such a young

player and now we know what

it’s like and hopefully we can

get back there again and win it

this time”.

Trevion Duncan, a 5 feet 9 inch

170 pound junior defensive

back, intercepted a pass and

returned it 26 yards for the

Redskins second score.

Then former Studewood Cobras

Levy (Smokey) Whiteing scored

from one yard out. He went in

standing up. Whiteing finished

with a team-leading 50 yard

rushing on only 7 carries. “We

come to practice each day and

work hard to get better”. We

spoke with him about his run-

ning buddy Ronnie Wesley who

is one year behind him. “Yes sir

it is good playing with him and

sometimes we talk about things

like Taylor was trying to strip

the ball from us so we reminded

him to protect the ball and

things like that”. Another for-

mer Studewood Cobras is Craig

(Snub) Loston the All-American

Safety at LSU, who had his 6th

interception of the year against

Texas A & M on Saturday night.

Whiteing commented on the

success Loston is having at

LSU. “It makes me feel good

knowing he is doing well and it

makes me want to play and do

well also”.

Whiteing said going to state was

a wonderful experience but he

would like to go back and win

this time around.

The Redskins defense dominated

play as well as leader such as

Kyran Mitchell at linebacker and

defensive back Holton Hill who

also had a great game.

Another outstanding junior on

Lamar’s squad is Holton Hill, a

6 feet 2 inch 170 pound junior

defensive back, who did a super

job on Keenen Brown holding

him to one catch. “Yes sir we

kind of get in his head and

pressed them up and kept them

in front of us all game long”.

When asked if he was surprised

the Skins at 12-0 and added

another shut out. “No sir I’m not

surprised because when it came

down to it we just stepped up

and made plays. He is looking

forward to the showdown with

Pearland. “We have a week to

prepare and we will be ready”.

NORTH SHORE EXPLODED

FOR 434 YARDS rushing in

their 61-0 shut out win over

Hightower. Tristan Houston led

the way with 161 yards and two

touchdowns in just 15 carries.

Lawance McCardell hit Kevian

De Leon from 55 yards out for

another score. Several other

back took part in the gold rush

as the Mustangs galloped to

their 12 win of the season

against no defeats.

THE KATY TIGERS ROLLED

TO A 51-7 WIN OVER CY

WOODS with Rodney Anderson

leading the way with 236 yards

and four touchdowns. In his

spare time he returned a punt 62

yards for another score. The

Tigers are 12-0 and headed to

state again.

PEARLAND WHHIPPED FB

51-44 AS DERIG King racked

up 298 yards and three touch-

downs.

Pearland Dawson scored in each

of the first three quarters and

beat Reagan 21-7 to advance to

the next round.

The Reagan Bulldogs had a

super year in 2013 as they won

ten games and went unbeaten in

district action. It also marked

the first time the school won a

district title since 1959.

Congratulations are in order for

head coach Stephen Dixon and

his staff on a job well done.

Beating Tomball Memorial 7-0

in the opening round of the play-

offs the Bulldogs made their

way to week twelve for the sec-

ond time in three years. It is

clear to say coach Dixon and his

staff are well on their way to

turning the program around. We

spoke with senior receiver and

defensive back Stephen Dixon

and he was very excited about

the success of the Bulldogs.

“We said when we were sopho-

more and juniors we were going

to do something special as sen-

iors and we won the district”.

When we asked what was it like

to be playing under the leader-

ship of his father. “It has been

great because I never wanted

any special treatment from him,

fact is I would like to be remem-

bered as Stephen Dixon the foot-

ball player rather than the coach-

es son”. He credited his team-

mates on getting in the weight

room and trying to make them-

selves better over the years as to

why Reagan is doing so well.

Another senior on the team is

Malcolm La Fleur, a 200 pound

safety and wide receiver. “Man

this is something special and I’m

proud of the way this is turning

out for the senior as well as the

underclassmen who are on this

team”. After being there when

they lost big to Pearland

Dawson two years ago, the

Bulldogs again faced Dawson

losing a close one 21-7 this time

around is an indication on just

how far the program has come

over the past years. “We can

recall when it was only three or

four guys in the weight room

and now it hard to get in there to

work out because so many guys

are in there”.

All this is a good indication of

what a great job coach Stephen

Dixon has done with this pro-

gram. He and his staff certainly

should to be honored for their

hard work.

The trainers for the Bulldogs

football program are RaShunda

Collett, Nelicia Jones, Alexander

Santos, Lori Collett, Kailynn

In order to win a game in a shut

out you simply have to control

both sides of the ball at line of

scrimmage. Well that’s what

happened as Lamar ran past

Alief Taylor 36-0 at Delmar to

advance to the third round fac-

ing Pearland. The two teams

meet at Mercer Stadium at 1.00

PM on Friday November 29th.

The center of Lamar’s massive

offensive line Braylon Hyder

took care of business as he and

his teammates worked over

Alief all day long. At 6’2” and

260 the senior could take care of

himself but had plenty of help

on the offensive front. Jonathan

Beaudion, Trevor Jones,

Stephen Whitefield and Celious

Barner to name a couple of

guys. They also got help from

the tight end Justin Hollie.

We spoke with the senior line-

man and gathered some of his

thoughts. “It’s not much to say

about it other than trust in God

and the guy next to you to get

the job done”. Overall the

Redskins were simply overpow-

ering the Lions all day long. “

Taylor showed a lot of heart and

they never gave us man they

came at us every down”.

In closing we asked the lineman

how far can this Lamar team

go? “Last year’s team showed

us what we needed to do to get

where we want to go and I

believe we can take it all the

way this year!

LINEMAN OF THE WEEKBRAYLON HYDER - LAMAR

If you’ve seen the Lamar

Redskins play football you know

those guys who run around the

stadium with the flags each time

they score. Please be aware they

are called the Warriors and they

are some of the finest students

who attend Lamar high school.

This edition we talked with John

Zook, the mild-mannered hand-

some son of Eleanor and

Richard Zook. He is holding a

4.3-9 Grade Point Average and

favors Economics in his classes.

With already having a desire to

go into business, John feels he

will not only make a good busi-

nessman but a good father and

husband someday as well. We

must admit John is our first stu-

dent to throw those two very

important positions into the con-

versation.

With hobbies of playing golf and

performing community services,

John has his values in place and

is excited about his career in

college. “Business has always

been my goal and I plan to work

very hard in the coming years to

achieve that goal.

When asked about the school

spirit at Lamar these days John

says he’d give the school a 9

and he explained. “Sure football

is king but I’d like to see more

students rally behind some of

our other sports as well”.

On the subject of school changes

he would like to see, dress code

came out quickly and he would

like to see changes in that.

Crediting his mother with being

his most driving force in life

John praises her for keeping him

on the straight and narrow path.

“She doesn’t take away my cell

phone or nothing of the kind but

when she tell me what has to be

done I get it done and I love her

for encouraging me to be the

best I can be in life”.

We always ask our student if

they could live over again what

would they do differently? John

quickly said all things happen

for a reason but sometimes I

wished I had tried harder in

classes in my freshman year”.

A member at Bethel Church,

Zook feels it fills his cup for the

correct way to life and he enjoys

regular worship service in the

non-denominational Church.

On the subject of Health Care,

John made it clear he feels the

government should not be so

involved in everyone’s Health

Care. “I don’t agree with

Obama-Care, but I do under-

stand we are in need of some

better form of health care, but to

have a national healthcare sys-

tem like some countries is not

the answer either”.

Describing himself as a serving

person, who is nice and hard

working. John is also the Co-

captain of the golf team, the

Warriors and an Eagle Scout

also!

In just a few years with the pro-

gram Stephen Dixon has made

the history books as he led the

Reagan Bulldogs to a district

title for the first time since 1959.

The mild-mannered coach who

played at Sugarland Willow

ridge a few years ago is happy

to be working with the Bulldogs

program. “Hey man from our

Principal (Connie Berger) all the

way through our staff and play-

ers along with our student body

plus our community we are a

team”. The excited Dixon went

on to say moments after they

beat Tomball Memorial 7-0 at

Delmar he was ready for the

next game. “I’m ready to go to

work right now because we had

some injuries and we hope have

our team at full strength next

week.

Having solid staff beside con-

sisting of Willie Agson, Sandy

Alvarado, Kerrick Arrington,

Robin Kirk, Franco Smith,

Deron Trevino, Daniel Perez,

Jimmy McClure, Fedel Aleman

and Derrick Earthly then see the

program getting better. “Our

kids are really getting into what

we are trying to built here and

we feel good about our team

right now”.

Coaching with Harry Colon the

former Jacksonville Jaguars

defensive back when he was the

head coach at Reagan and now

Dixon is back as the head man.

“Yes sir I worked with Harry

and we kind of got it started

then and took a little dip but

now we are back at Reagan and

it’s like having a vision come

true”. The Bulldogs went

unbeaten in district and be 10-1

and ranked number 10 in the

area. “Reagan had their share of

hard times but have made the

playoffs the past 3 years in a

row and finally we are getting

some recognition”.

The likeable coach went on to

say he spent a lot of time around

good coaches all his life and he

is tickled pick to be the head

coach at Reagan these days.

In closing Dixon thanked the

Lord for giving him the opportu-

nity to coach at Reagan and to

be part of their big turnaround.

“Anytime you coach a program

that has been on the losing end

of games for a long time you

must be organized and do things

the right way and that’s what we

are doing”.

CEDERICK PICKROM

REAGA

When the opportunity comes to

make a big play, great players

find a way to get the job done.

That was the case in the opening

round of the high school football

playoffs for Reagan’s Cederick

Pickrom. The six feet one inch

185 pound sophomore was

Johnny on the Spot at his defen-

sive back position when he

heard Ball, Ball and quickly

jumped on it and returned it 17

yards for a touchdown. It turned

out to be the only points scored

in Reagan’s 7-0 playoff win over

Tomball Memorial at Delmar

Stadium. “It happened so fast I

saw a sweep coming my way,

but our D-line is so good they

got him before he got to the out-

side”. Pickrom went on to say

Magnus Kinne and Jarron

Manning wrapped up the QB

and the ball fell out. “I heard

my teammates saying ball, ball,

ball and I picked it up and

scored a touchdown on the

play”.

As we talked more with

Cederick he told us the team is

truly together and when one

player is down the entire team

and coaching staff encourages

him to get it going again. “We

have a good combination of

players and coaches who want to

help one another out and that’s

why we are winning games

now”.

GLE ADERSO

LAMAR

Rolling to another shut out win

the Lamar Redskins wasted no

time in making clear they want

to keep playing. Their defense

was flying to the ball as if it was

cake and ice cream. Senior line-

backers Kyran Mitchell and

Glenn Anderson took turns mak-

ing life rough for runners from

the Alief Taylor Lions. With the

Skins up 20-0 it was Anderson

who got by his man and made a

big sack to end another drive.

Once again when the Lions were

backed up Anderson got free and

recorded a safety giving Lamar a

big 36-0 lead and that turned out

to be the final score. “We had

worked so hard in practice and

we are like family on the field”.

When asked about last year team

going all the way to the state

title game against Allen at

Cowboys Field in Dallas, Texas.

“That just showed us what we

have to do to get back thee and

we are looking forward to work-

ing hard to get back there again

and this time win the state title”.

Lamar was putting good pres-

sure upfront as Brandon

Agomuo, Regan Johnson, Ira

Savage-Lewis and Deon Ford

controlled the line of scrimmage

all game long.

This made it clear Lamar is

tough to score against at all.

OTE DEFIITIOS: Holiday-1. (n.) A religious festivity:• feast• pageant • feast day

For those of us that choose not tofollow traditions and doctrines ofmen, this is not a happy time ofthe year, but rather a sad one. Thiscauses pain and suffering when somany of our fleshly family mem-bers, and/or those that profess tobe followers of Christ(Christians), choose to do so. Astrue followers of Christ we can-not, and will not; (Matt.10:32-39;2Tim.3:12-17; 1Pet.4:1-7). Thishurts our Fleshly feelings, and itgoes against our Carnal wants,(our Bellies) (Rom.16:16-19;2Cor.10:1-7; Gal.5:16-26;Phil.3:16-21; James4:1-10).Those striving to follow Christ(Christians) are commanded byChrist through his apostles, not toobserve or give heed to fables, tra-ditions, doctrines, and command-ments of men; for these things areIdle> (free from labor, at leisure)(Matt.12:35-37, 1Tim.1:4,2Tim.4:3-4, Titus1: 13-14,Col.2:8-10 and verses 20-22). Thecommandments of God throughChrist and his apostles, edifies theSpiritual Mind and strengthens theNew Spiritual man in Christ Jesus,(Rom.12:1-2; 2Cor.5:14-17;Eph.4:20-24; Col.3:1-10).Christians must observe all thingsthat Christ commanded hisApostles (Matt.28:20; John17: 20-21; Acts 1:1-4; 2Pet.3:1-3;1John4:5-6; Jude 1:16-19). ‘Tis aseason that is full of Vanity, deco-rations, eating in a gluttonousmanner, drunkenness and fables;which are lies. Now let’s look atsome lies that have been put inplace by man, Santa (so-called),riding in a sleigh pulled by flyingreindeer, and going down a chim-ney, of course we know this is alie. “Santa Claus”, FatherChrist/mas and or Kris Kringle, derived from Christ/Kindle, mean-ing, “Christ Child“ this is anabominable LIE. “This began inGermany, among Protestantdenominations”. How many liescan one tell, or be a part of and beright with God? Especially liesinvolving and surrounding God’sBeloved Son: in whom He is Wellpleased: (please hear God andunderstand; Matt.17:1-8).Christians MUST speak and DOthe TRUTH, if we are of Christ, through his apostles’ Word,(please hear Jesus John 17:14-21). Can anyone prove by theinspired Word, that there werethree wise men; if we cannot, howcan we know it’s true, we cannot?

Think about it, children are taughtthat lying is wrong; except insome cases, one being, of ALLthings, the unauthorized celebra-tions dealing with our Lord andsavior Jesus Christ. This is shame-ful and DEADLY, to soul salva-tion. Why would a Christian teachdamnation to anyone, especially totheir CHILDREN? There are noexamples and or commands forChristians to observe Christmas;thereby being unauthorized byChrist and or his apostles. Thisalso sends the message to childrenthat, participating in, or being

involved with some lies is ok,especially the ones that MANthinks he has involved Christ in(1John1:1-6); instead of teachingthe TRUTH; that all liars willhave their part in HELL. “Rev21:8 But the fearful, and unbe-lieving, and the abominable, andmurderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, andall (1)liars, shall have their part inthe lake which burneth with fireand brimstone: which is the sec-ond death.” Definition: (1)allliars-5571 pseudes (psyoo-dace’);from 5574; untrue, i.e. erroneous, deceitful, wicked: KJV— false, liar. Children are being brought upin the nurture and admonition offables/lies, traditions, doctrines, and commandments of men, ratherthan of The Lord (listen Eph.6:1-4). Remember Christians are toexhort to godliness, (1Tim 4:6-16)please note verses 12&13). It isso sad that so many souls observein any manner these traditions ofmen, instead of following theWORD, which is given to us byGod through Christ, and his apos-tles. After all the Word is ourMAP to HEAVEN and away fromHELL!

Here is another ERRONIOUSstatement, “JESUS IS THE REA-SON FOR THE SEASON”; this isa cunningly devised fable, in otherwords, “believable error”. Jesushas never been and never will bethe reason for any season, becauseJESUS IS NOT SEASONAL.Jesus Christ is a LIFESTYLE thatone MUST strive as a Christianto live 24-7. Jesus has left instruc-tions on what Christians MUSTremember about him, and it is nothis birth, but his death(1Cor.11:23-34). He lived a life ofsuffering (Isaiah 53:1-12;Matt.21:1-7; Luke 9:57-62;John1:9-11; John12:25-26), thendied most cruelly on the cross forus all. Remember, His Father forour sake was pleased to BRUISEHis only begotten Son, Isa.53:10.Then, after His death, and theshedding of blood for the remis-sion of sin: raised Him up on thethird day, thereby giving us achance for salvation, IF we OBEYand follow HIM, through hisapostles, (John 17:8-23; John19:34; Acts 22:16; 1Cor.1:30;6:11; Eph.5:26-27; Heb.5:5-9;Heb.9:13-28; James1:21-22;1Pet.3:21-22; 1Pet.4:1-3;1John1:6-10).

“KEEP CHRIST IN CHRIST-MAS”, this is another cunninglydevised fable, in that the wordChristmas cannot be found inthe inspired WORD, (the Bible). So then God, the ONE and ONLYHOLY FATHER, which IS INHEAVEN, did not put his preciousSon in it. Christ being the WORD(John1:1-14), never practiced ithimself, and GOD made it clear inMatt. the17th chapter, thatChristians MUST hear hisbeloved son, in whom He is wellpleased and him ONLY (verse 8).In Matt. 28:18-20 when JesusChrist was about to ascend backinto heaven, he made it clear tohis apostles, that all power inheaven and earth had been givenunto him, from his Father which isin heaven. Christ then began toleave them instructions on whatthey MUST do and teach true

Christians to observe. In theseinstructions “Christmas”, and thepractice of it, cannot be found. Now, we believe this should openthe door for some legitimate ques-tions, for those who want to knowthe TRUTH, and escape error. For we all MUST strive to escapeerror, in order to have eternalLIFE. Who made “JESUS THEREASON FOR THE SEASON”?Who put “CHRIST IN CHRIST-MAS”? It has been proven by theApostles’ Doctrine that God thefather did not; neither did JesusChrist and his Apostles. Who elsedid Christ leave this authority; NOONE ELSE. According to scrip-tures Jesus left his Apostles theWord (John17:5-10), so that whenwe read (Eph.3:1-7), study(2Tim.2:15) and strive to obey(2Thes.1:7-9; James 1:21-25;2:17-26; 1Pet.4:12-19) the com-mands of the apostles (Acts1:1-4; Acts2:41-42; 2Pet.3:1-2;1John 4:5-6; Jude 1:16-19), thisand only this makes us all ONE,right (righteous) with God. Nowlet us examine the origin of thistradition.

Christmas: Date (Dec. 25), wasestablished in (A.D. 336), by theWestern Church, based at Rome. The Eastern Orthodox and theEastern Rite churches within theRoman Catholic Church chose(January 6). There seems to havebeen some confusion on the dateof which this day was to beobserved. God is not the author ofconfusion (listen 1Cor.14:33),this only happens with man’s tra-ditions. This is why ChristiansMUST observe all things thatChrist has commanded theApostles, (Matt.28:20). Againyou will not find the word“Christmas”, or the traditionalpractice of it, by Christ nor hisApostles. So, there is no such cus-tom in the Church of God(1Cor.11:16), which he pur-chased with his blood(Acts20:28), which is the Churchof and by Christ (Matt. 16:16-18;Eph.3:21; 5:23-33; Col.1:18). Aswe can tell by the dates given, thistradition came MUCH TOO lateto be of Christ or his apostles.According to Christ Himself,Christians MUST believe on Himthrough his Apostle’s word,(John17:20-21) and continueSTEADFAST, in the apostle’sdoctrine, as those before us(Acts2:41-42), this is SAFE.

The TREE is one of the mainthings GLORIFIED in this tradi-tion, which man has WITHOUTAUTHORITY; thereby withoutsuccess, tried to make Jesus thereason for. After all, this is wherethe so called “GIFTS” are laid, and so much time is spent in theDECORATING of it. The childrenof Israel were warned of a similarcustom; “Jeremiah 10:1 Hear yethe word which the LORDspeaketh unto you, O house ofIsrael: 2 Thus saith the LORD,Learn not the way of the hea-then, and be not dismayed at thesigns of heaven; for the heathenare dismayed at them. 3 For thecustoms of the people are vain:for one cutteth a tree out of theforest, the work of the hands ofthe workman, with the axe. 4They deck it with silver and withgold; they fasten it with nails and

with hammers that it move not.”Now man has introduced the tradi-tion of the “Christmas Tree”, thatmany Professing to be Christians,“followers of Christ”, observe. How can this be, when this tradi-tion cannot be found in the apos-tles’ doctrine or in the inspiredWORD of the bible, at all?

Man himself proves the fact thatJesus is not the reason for the sea-son, and that he is not in it. Forwhen the, so-called, Christmasseason starts, what is trulythought of the most? Is it Christ oris it the time off, the vain carnaltrees and decorations, the mate-rialistic gifts, the glutinous foodsand drinks, the carnal games andthe fleshly family gatherings?Where is Christ? Let your conver-sation be ONLY about Christ, thescriptures, and soul salvationwhile at these gatherings and seehow popular you will be,(Philp.1:27; 1Tim.4:11 -16;1Pet.1:13-19; 2Pet.3:8-12). Takethe carnal, fleshly wants of manout of the equation; there wouldbe no observance of these carnaldays that Christ has not author-ized to those that are his. Theproof is in the pudding; our GODis truly our BELLIES Phil 3:16-20, because it seems nothing canbe done without carnal food.Today, even buildings that shouldOLY be built for worship, whichinclude the serving of SPIRITU-AL food, for the spiritual edifica-tion of the body of Christ, musthave KITCHENS.

Here Jesus made it clear what istruly needful; Luke 10:38 Nowit came to pass, as they went, thathe entered into a certain village:and a certain woman namedMartha received him into herhouse. 39 And she had a sistercalled Mary, which also sat atJesus’ feet, and heard his word.40 But Martha was cumberedabout much serving, and came tohim, and said, Lord, dost thou notcare that my sister hath left me toserve alone? bid her therefore thatshe help me. 41 And Jesusanswered and said unto her,Martha, Martha, thou art carefuland troubled about many things:42 But one thing is needful: andMary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken awayfrom her. Please read what Jesustold the multitude; “John 6:26Jesus answered them and said,Verily, verily, I say unto you, Yeseek me, not because ye saw themiracles, but because ye did eat ofthe loaves, and were filled. 27Labour not for the meat whichperisheth, but for that meat whichendureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall giveunto you: for him hath God theFather sealed.” Now here is anexample given by Jesus Christ, forthose that were to be invited to afeast. Now this is not the so calledGIFT giving as pre-mentioned,but TRUE GIFT giving, andChristians MUST be of theTRUTH, John17:16-17. Note thedefinition of GIFT (g¹ft) n. 1.Something that is bestowed volun-tarily and without (1)compensa-tion; “Luke 14:12 Then said healso to him that bade him, Whenthou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thybrethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor

thy rich neighbours; lest they alsobid thee again, and a recompencebe made thee. 13 But when thoumakest a feast, call the poor, themaimed, the lame, the blind: 14And thou shalt be blessed; forthey cannot (2)recompense thee:for thou shalt be recompensed atthe resurrection of the just.”

Definitions:(1)com·pen·sates. —tr. 1. To offset; counterbalance. 2.To make satisfactory payment orreparation to; recompense or reim-burse. (2) for they cannot recom-pence thee-468 antapodoma-thething paid back, requital; 467antapodidomi (an-tap-od-ee’-do-mee): KJV— recompense, render, repay.

It is of SPECIAL CONCERN,when those professing to be of theone body, the church of and byChrist (Matt.16:13-20;Eph.3:21), observe such traditionsand doctrines in any manner. Forthere are those that say, “We don’tobserve these days in a religiousmanner, but in a SECULAR one”;REALLY? Definition:SEC·U·LAR adj. 1. Worldlyrather than spiritual; Earthly,earthy, materialistic, ultra mun-dane, Temporal, Terrestrial,Physical, Carnal, mortal, World.How can those of the one faitheven think about “secular” DAYS,let alone be PARTAKERS ofthem, and then call Him Lord,Lord. “Luke 6:46 And why callye me, Lord, Lord, and do notthe things which I say? See alsoMatt 7:21-24. These practicescause those of the one faith, to beidolaters;

lukewarm, doubled minded ene-mies of the CROSS of CHRIST,minding SECULAR things.Followers of Christ must reprovethose things that cannot be foundin the Apostles’ doctrine, ratherthan participate in them (see Eph.5: 6-17). We must be the (1)SALTof the earth, not mind the things ofthe earth, thereby being the(2)LIGHT of the world(Matt.5:13-16), rather than being(3)conformed to this world(Rom.12:1-2).

Definitions: (1)SALT of theearth-217 halas (hal’-as);from251; salt; figuratively, prudence:circumspect, wise, levelheaded, sound, sensible, reasonable:(Foolish antonym), (hear Col .4:5-6 also). There are many souls involved inmany things that are not of theBody that Christ is the HEAD of(Col.1:18). The Church that Christis the head of, MUST be subjectunto Christ in everything; “Eph5:23 For the husband is the head

of the wife, even as Christ is thehead of the church: and he is thesaviour of the body. 24 Thereforeas the church is (1)subject untoChrist, so let the wives be to theirown husbands in every thing.”Definition: (1)Subject unto Christ-5293 hupotasso; to subordinate;reflexively, to obey: KJV— beunder obedience (obedient), putunder, subdue unto, (be, make)subject (to, unto), be (put) in sub-jection), submit self unto.

WOE unto any man that tries toput Christ into anything, or makehim the reason for anything! Manis the CREATURE, Christ is theCREATOR; please read John1:1-5; Col. 1:12-20. Christians MUSTheed the warning of the apostlePeter, whom some erroneouslycalls the first “Pope”. This is errorsimply because, the word, Pope, can not be found anywhere in theinspired scriptures of the HolyBible. However, the one GOD(Eph.4:1-6), which is in heaven, the Only Holy Father, Jesus theOnly Christ (Matt.23:5-12), andhis Apostles are found in thebible. Christians MUST rememberthat Peter, one of the apostles andone of the elders, warns theChurch that Christ is the HEADof, to beware of cunningly devisedfables; but first note what theapostle Paul says, then the apostlePeter, as they were guided by TheHoly Ghost; “Gal 2:6. But, ofthese who seemed to be some-what, (whatsoever they were, itmaketh no matter to me: Godaccepteth no man’s person:) forthey who seemed to be somewhatin conference added nothing tome: 7 But contrariwise, whenthey saw that the gospel of theuncircumcision was committedunto me, as the gospel of the cir-cumcision was unto Peter; 8 (Forhe that wrought effectually inPeter to the apostleship of the cir-cumcision, the same was mightyin me toward theGentiles:)”(KJV)

1 Pet 5:1 The elders which areamong you I exhort, who am alsoan elder, and a witness of the suf-ferings of Christ, and also a par-taker of the glory that shall berevealed: (listen to 2Pet.1:1 also)

2 Pet 1:15 Moreover I willendeavour that ye may be ableafter my decease to have thesethings always in remembrance. 16For we have (1)not followed(2)cunningly devised (3)fables,when we made known unto youthe power and coming of our LordJesus Christ, but were eyewitness-es of his majesty.

Definitions: (1) ot followed-1811 exakoloutheo (ex-ak-ol-oo-theh’-o); from 1537 and 190; tofollow out, i.e. (figuratively) toimitate, obey, yield to: KJV— fol-low.b) to follow one’s authority.(2) Cunningly devised-4679sophizo (sof-id’-zo);from 4680; torender wise; in a sinister accep-tai.e. continue, to teach plausible[believable] error: KJV— cun-ningly devised, a) to invent, to

“PEACE O EARTH”Luke 2:11 For unto you is bornthis day in the city of David aSaviour, which is Christ the Lord.12 And this shall be a sign untoyou; Ye shall find the babewrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a (1)manger. 13 Andsuddenly there was with the angela multitude of the heavenly hostpraising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, andon earth peace, good will towardmen.(KJV)Definition:(1)manger 5336phatne (fat’-nay); from pateomai(to eat); a crib (for fodder),man·ger (m³n“j…r) n. A troughor an open box in which feed forlivestock is placed.: KJV— man-ager, stall.

This is what the Angels declaredat the LOWLY birth of JesusChrist in the flesh. For we mustremember, Jesus was in the begin-ning (John1:1-14), but he becamea little lower than angels, as Godsent his Son in the likeness of sin-ful flesh (Rom.8:1-9; Gal.4:4-5;Heb.2:7-10). This declaration thatwas made by the angels is heardoften this time of the year. Peaceon earth can ONLY exist if ALLmen DENY themselves, and sufferto obey Christ through his apos-tles’ word, doctrine, traditions andcommands; as God has command-ed (Matt. 17:1-8; 28:18-20;John17:15-24; Acts2:41-42;2Thes.2:14-17; 2Pet.3:1-2;1John 4:5-6). Christ’s will havealways been good toward men,but man must first have a changeof MIND (repentance). “2 Pet 3:9The Lord is not slack concerninghis promise, as some men countslackness; but is longsuffering tous-ward, not willing that anyshould perish, but that all shouldcome to repentance. 10 But theday of the Lord will come as athief in the night; in the which theheavens shall pass away with agreat noise, and the elements shallmelt with fervent heat, the earthalso and the works that are thereinshall be burned up.11 Seeingthen that all these things shall bedissolved, what manner of per-sons ought ye to be in all holyconversation and godliness,” Butman wants to have it his own way.He wants to be able to choose hisown way to be righteous withGod, thereby causing division, variance and confusion. Accordingto Christ and His apostles;because of man’s SCRIPTURALignorance (Matt.22:29), REBEL-LIOUS ways (Luke 6:46-49); andbecause man loves his life, theWORLD and the THINGS thatare IN it (John12:25-26; 1John2:15-17), there is and there will beno peace on earth (Matt.10:32-38; Luke 12:51-53). tion, to form“sophisms”,

Jesus said he didn’t come to sendpeace, but a sword, which is theWORD. If we are Christians weMUST believe what Christ says.Do we not want to know thetruth? “Matt 10:32 Whosoevertherefore shall confess me beforemen, him will I confess alsobefore my Father which is inheaven. 33 But whosoever shalldeny me before men, him will Ialso deny before my Father whichis in heaven. 34 Think not that Iam come to send peace on earth: Icame not to send peace, *but asword. 35 For I am come to set aman at variance against his father, and the daughter against her moth-er, and the daughter in law againsther mother in law. 36 And a man’sfoes shall be they of his ownhousehold. 37 He that lovethfather or mother more than me isnot worthy of me: and he thatloveth son or daughter more thanme is not worthy of me. 38 Andhe that taketh not his cross, andfolloweth after me, is not worthyof me” (hear also Luke9:57-62).“Heb 4: 11 Let us labour thereforeto enter into that rest, lest any manfall after the same example ofunbelief. 12 For the word of Godis quick, and powerful, and sharp-er than any *two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asun-der of soul and spirit, and of thejoints and marrow, and is a dis-cerner of the thoughts and intentsof the heart” (hear alsoEph.6:17). “Luke 12:51 Supposeye that I am come to give peaceon earth? I tell you, ay; butrather division: 52 For fromhenceforth there shall be five inone house divided, three againsttwo, and two against three. 53 Thefather shall be divided against theson, and the son against the father;the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the moth-er; the mother in law against herdaughter in law, and the daughterin law against her mother in law.”

Because of the insistence of manyon following cunningly devisedfables, rather than the more sureWORD of prophecy by the apos-tles, there is confusion. Sincemany are resolved to follow blind-ly, teachers that are false, withoutproving them by the apostles’ doc-trine, there is variance. Becausemany have chosen to follow thetraditions and commandments ofmen, rather than those of the apos-tles, which would make PEACEand make us ALL ONE in Christ, there is, and there MUST beDIVISION; Please hear: “II Th3:4 And we have confidence inthe Lord touching you, that yeboth do and will do the thingswhich we command you. 5 Andthe Lord direct your hearts intothe love of God, and into thepatient waiting for Christ. 6 Nowwe command you, brethren, inthe name of our Lord JesusChrist, that ye (1)withdrawyourselves from every brotherthat (2)walketh (3)disorderly,and not after the tradition whichhe received of us.”

Titus 1:13 This witness is true.Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in thefaith; 14 Not giving heed toJewish fables, and commandmentsof men, that turn from the truth.

Note the apostle Paul as headmonished the Church inCorinth, Philippi andThessalonica, as he and they, theapostles were guided by The HolyGhost: “1 Cor 11:1 Be ye follow-ers of me, even as I also am ofChrist. 2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me inall things, and keep the ordi-nances, as I delivered them to you.3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man isChrist; and the head of the womanis the man; and the head of Christis God.” “Phil 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, andreceived, and heard, and seen inme, do: and the God of peaceshall be with you.” “II Th 3:4And we have confidence in theLord touching you, that ye bothdo and will do the things whichwe command you. 5 And theLord direct your hearts into thelove of God, and into the patientwaiting for Christ.”(KJV)

Our hope is, that all striving to beChristians, according to the apos-tles’ doctrine (Acts1:1-4;Acts2:41-42), will become in thefuture, SPIRITUALLY MINDEDand not the SECULARLY MIND-ED ones that WE ARE. Pleasehear; “ Rom 6:1 What shall wesay then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 Godforbid. How shall we, that aredead to sin, live any longer there-in? 3 Know ye not, that so many

of us as were baptized into JesusChrist were baptized into hisdeath? 4 Therefore we are buriedwith him by baptism into death:that like as Christ was raised upfrom the dead by the glory of theFather, even so we also shouldwalk in newness of life. 5 For ifwe have been planted together inthe likeness of his death, we shallbe also in the likeness of his resur-rection: 6 Knowing this, that ourold man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might bedestroyed, that henceforth weshould not serve sin.” “Rom 8:5For they that are after the flesh domind the things of the flesh; butthey that are after the Spirit thethings of the Spirit. 6 For to becarnally minded is death; but to bespiritually minded is life andpeace. 7 Because the carnalmind is enmity against God: forit is not subject to the law of God,neither indeed can be. 8 So thenthey that are in the flesh cannotplease God. 9 But ye are not inthe flesh, but in the Spirit, if so bethat the Spirit of God dwell inyou. ow if any man have notthe Spirit of Christ, he is noneof his.” “2 Cor 5:16 Whereforehenceforth know we no manafter the flesh: yea, though wehave known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we himno more. 17 Therefore if any manbe in Christ, he is a newcreature: old things are passedaway; behold, all things arebecome new.” “Eph 4:10 He thatdescended is the same also thatascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 And he gave some, apostles;and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors andteachers; 12 For the perfecting ofthe saints, for the work of the min-istry, for the edifying of the bodyof Christ: 13 Till we all come inthe unity of the faith, and of theknowledge of the Son of God,unto a perfect man, unto the meas-ure of the stature of the fulness ofChrist: 14 That we henceforth beno more children, tossed to andfro, and carried about with everywind of doctrine, by the sleightof men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait todeceive; 15 But speaking thetruth in love, may grow up intohim in all things, which is thehead, even Christ: 16 Fromwhom the whole body fitly joinedtogether and compacted by thatwhich every joint supplieth, according to the effectual workingin the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body untothe edifying of itself in love. 17This I say therefore, and testify inthe Lord, that ye henceforth walknot as other Gentiles walk, in thevanity of their mind, 18 Havingthe understanding darkened, beingalienated from the life of Godthrough the ignorance that is inthem, because of the blindness oftheir heart: 19 Who being pastfeeling have given themselvesover unto lasciviousness, to workall uncleanness with greediness.20 But ye have not so learnedChrist; 21 If so be that ye haveheard him, and have been taughtby him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22That ye put off concerning theformer conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the

deceitful (1)lusts; 23 And berenewed in the spirit of yourmind; 24 And that ye put on thenew man, which after God is cre-ated in righteousness and trueholiness.” “Col 3:1 If ye thenbe risen with Christ, seek thosethings which are above, whereChrist sitteth on the right hand ofGod. 2 (2)Set your affection onthings above, not on things onthe earth. 3 For ye are dead, andyour life is hid with Christ in God.4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye alsoappear with him in glory. 5(3)Mortify therefore your mem-bers which are upon the earth; for-nication, uncleanness, inordinateaffection, evil concupiscence, andcovetousness, which is idolatry: 6For which things’ sake the wrathof God cometh on the children ofdisobedience: 7 In the which yealso walked some time, when yelived in them. 8 But now ye alsoput off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy commu-nication out of your mouth. 9 Lienot one to another, seeing that yehave put off the old man withhis deeds; 10 And have put onthe new man, which is renewedin knowledge after the image ofhim that created him: 11 Wherethere is neither Greek nor Jew, cir-cumcision nor uncircumcision,Barbarian, Scythian, bond norfree: but Christ is all, and in all.”(KJV)

Definitions:(1)deceitful lusts-1939 epithumia (ep-ee-thoo-mee’-ah); from 1937; a longing, craving (especially for what is for-bidden): KJV— concupiscence, desire, lust (after). (2)Set youraffection on things above, NOTon things on the earth -5426phroneo (fron-eh’-o); from 5424;to exercise the mind, i.e. entertainor have a sentiment or opinion; byimplication, to be (mentally) dis-posed, to interest oneself in (withconcern or obedience), to feel, tothink c) to be of the same mind, that is, agreed together, to cherishthe same views, to be harmonious3) to direct one’s mind to a thing,to seek, to strive for: KJV— setthe affection on, (be like-, + be ofone, + be of the same, mind (-ed),regard, savour, think. (3)Mortifytherefore your members which areupon the earth-3499 nekroo (nek-ro’-o); from 3498; to deaden, i.e.(figuratively) to subdue, 1) tomake dead, to put to death, to slay3) to deprive of power, to destroythe strength of: KJV— be dead, mortify.

When one professes to belong toChrist (Christian), and choosesNOT to be doers of the Word andwork, (James 1:21-25) but choos-es to be spotted with the world(James1:27) and chooses to lovethe world and the things that arein it, this makes one not of theFather (1John2:15-17). Accordingto scripture, this also makes onean adulterer or an adulteress, choosing to be a friend of thisworld (James4:4-10). Again, according to scripture, one thatchooses to love their life in thisworld, shall lose their life (eternal-ly)

John12:23-26. Remember, if one, because of his/her own BELLY,chooses to mind earthly things, including the traditions of men, according to scripture this makesone the enemy of the Cross ofChrist (Phil.3:16-20)! This thenaccording to SCRIPTURE, makesone a DENIER of Christ and theFather rather than a DENIER ofoneself (Luke 9:22-26). This alsomakes one an ATICHRIST1John2:22-23!

James 1:26 If any man amongyou seem to be religious, and bri-dleth not his tongue, but deceivethhis own heart, this man’s religionis vain. 27 Pure religion and unde-filed before God and the Father isthis, To visit the fatherless andwidows in their affliction, and tokeep himself (1)unspotted fromthe world. (KJV)

Definitions: (1) keep himselfunspotted 784 aspilos (as’-pee-los); from 1 (as a negative parti-cle) and 4695; unblemished (phys-ically or morally) 1) spotless 2)metaphorically, a) free from cen-sure, irreproachable b) free fromvice, unsullied: KJV— withoutspot, unspotted. (2)from theworld 2889 kosmos (kos’-mos);6) the ungodly multitude; thewhole mass of men alienated fromGod, and therefore hostile to thecause of Christ 7) world affairs, the aggregate of things earthly thewhole circle of earthly goods, endowments riches, advantages, pleasures, etc., which althoughhollow and frail and fleeting, stirdesire, seduce from God and areobstacles to the cause of Christ:KJV— adorning, world.

I Jn 2:15 Love not the world, nei-ther the things that are in theworld. If any man love theworld, the love of the Father isnot in him. 16 For all that is inthe world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and thepride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And theworld passeth away, and the lustthereof: but he that doeth the willof God abideth for ever. 18 Littlechildren, it is the last time: and asye have heard that antichrist shallcome, even now are there manyantichrists; whereby we know thatit is the last time. 19 They wentout from us, but they were not ofus; for if they had been of us, theywould no doubt have continuedwith us: but they went out, thatthey might be made manifest thatthey were not all of us. 20 But yehave an unction from the HolyOne, and ye know all things. 21 Ihave not written unto you becauseye know not the truth, but becauseye know it, and that no lie is ofthe truth. 22 Who is a (1)liar buthe that denieth that Jesus is theChrist? He is (2)antichrist, that(3)denieth the Father and the Son.23 Whosoever denieth the Son,the same hath not the Father: (but)he that (4)acknowledgeth the Sonhath the Father also. 24 Let thattherefore abide in you, which yehave heard from the beginning. Ifthat which ye have heard from thebeginning shall remain in you, yealso shall continue in the Son,and in the Father. 25 And this isthe promise that he hath promisedus, even eternal life. 26 Thesethings have I written unto you

concerning them that seduceyou.(KJV)

Definitions:(1)Who is a liar-5583pseustes (psyoos-tace’); from5574; a falsifier, liar 2) one whobreaks faith: KJV— liar. (2)He isantichrist-500 antichristos (an-tee’-khris-tos); from 473 and5547; an opponent of the Messiah, the adversary of the Messiah:KJV— antichrist. 473 anti (an-tee’); a primary particle; opposite,i.e. instead or because of : KJV—for, in the room of. Often used incomposition to denote contrast, requital, substitution, etc.(3)that denieth the Father and theSon-720 arneomai (ar-neh’-om-ahee); perhaps from 1 (as a nega-tive particle) and the middle voiceof 4483; to contradict, i.e. dis-avow, reject, 2) to deny someone,4) not to accept, to reject, torefuse something offered, abne-gate: KJV— deny, refuse.(seereject and belief John12:44-50;John17:17-24). (4)he thatacknowledgeth the Son hath theFather also-3670 homologeo(hom-ol-og-eh’-o); from a com-pound of the base of 3674 and3056; i.e. covenant, acknowledge,1) to say the same thing as anoth-er, that is, to agree with, to assent2) to concede a) not to refuse b)not to deny: KJV— con- (pro-)fess, confession is made, givethanks, promise.

We believe that there are somethat perceive, understand and evenbelieve these truths; but becauseof different reasons, do not chooseto accept them. We believe thatweakness maybe one reason. Wealso believe that such ones mightask these questions: “How can Itell my wife, husband, children, orfriends?” “How can I tell myfather, mother, or kindred, thatthese are truths?” The questionshould be: “How can a Christian,i.e. follower of Christ, not tell thetruth to all (the truth being theWORD)”, (John17:16-17)?Followers of Christ through hisapostles MUST tell the TRUTH atall times, for no lie is of the truth, and there is no lie in Christ(James 3:14; 1John 1:5-10 &2:21-29). Christians must bestrong in the faith, not in a faith, and have been instructed to quitlike men. “1 Cor 16:13 Watch ye,stand fast in the faith, (1)quit youlike men, be strong.” Warning, for being timid, “fearful”; causesdamnation. “Rev 21:8 But the(1)fearful, and unbelieving, andthe abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shallhave their part in the lake whichburneth with fire and brimstone:which is the second death.”

Definitions: (1)quit you likemen-407 andrizomai (an-drid’-zom-ahee);middle voice from 435;to act manly, 2) to show oneself aman, be brave: KJV— quit likemen. (1)fearful 1169 deilos-timid, fearful

We believe that pride may beanother reason for the refusal ofthe truth, in that we don’t likeadmitting that we have beenwrong. Jesus said that pride, among other things is evil, anddefileth the man. Listen: Mark7:20-23; Mark 9:43-48. This is

true because first of all and mostof all Jesus said it. Secondly, when it hinders one from savinghis own soul and the souls of oth-ers, by not admitting the truth bythe word, can anything be moreevil? Remember, among otherthings the WORD is profitable forcorrection: 2 Tim 3:16 All scrip-ture is given by inspiration ofGod, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, forinstruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be per-fect, throughly furnished unto allgood works. We must not be tooproud to accept the WORD; afterall it is Christ John1:1-18, and itis what will judge us in the lastday John12:46-50. We mustchange our minds and then ourways if we want to be SAVED,“Repent” (Mark 9:43-48; Rom.12:1-2; 2Pet.3:8-18).

Jesus tells us by scriptures of thefew that chooses not to followman, but will find and accept theWord; and the many that will notaccept it (please listen Matt.7:13-29 and 22:14). The apostle Pauleven speaks of those that followsnot the Word, because of beingblinded by the god of this world,“the Devil”; please listen: “2 Cor4:1 Therefore seeing we have thisministry, as we have received

mercy, we faint not; 2 But haverenounced the hidden things ofdishonesty, not walking in crafti-ness, nor handling the word ofGod deceitfully; but by manifesta-tion of the truth commending our-selves to every man’s consciencein the sight of God. 3 But if ourgospel be hid, it is hid to them thatare lost: 4 In whom the god ofthis world hath blinded the mindsof them which believe not, lest thelight of the glorious gospel ofChrist, who is the image of God,should shine unto them. 5 For wepreach not ourselves, but ChristJesus the Lord; and ourselves yourservants for Jesus’ sake. 6 ForGod, who commanded the light toshine out of darkness, hath shinedin our hearts, to give the light ofthe knowledge of the glory of Godin the face of Jesus Christ.” (Hearalso Luke 4:1-13; 1John5:19-21;Rev.12:9 and 13:6-9)

1 Pet 4:17 For the time is comethat judgment must begin at thehouse of God: and if it first beginat us, what shall the end be ofthem that obey not the gospel ofGod? 18 And if the (1)righteous(2)scarcely be saved, where shallthe ungodly and the sinnerappear? 19 Wherefore let themthat suffer according to the willof God commit the keeping of

their souls to him in well doing, asunto a faithful Creator.

Definitions: (1)righteous-1342dikaios-righteous, observingdivine laws. (2)scarcely be saved-3433 molis (mol’-is); probablyby var. for 3425; with difficulty,2) not easily, very rarely: KJV—hardly, scarce (-ly), + with muchwork.

Dear reader again, the purpose ofthese articles is to seek theTRUTH according to THEWORD, thereby exposingERROR, for the purpose of sav-ing our souls. We believe this isbest done by definitions and thepreponderance of scriptures;which is having superior weight, force, importance, or influence ofscripture. Again we believe thisallows SCRIPTURE to INTER-PRET SCRIPTURE, therebyallowing a better understanding onthat topic. Again, thank you somuch for your interest in theWORD of TRUTH; GRACE andSalvation; John 17:17-21; Acts20:29-32; James1:21-25. After allit is our Map to HEAVEN!

PRECIOUS is Time. Therefore while you have

time, use it to learn and do Gods Commandments

for at the end of life is pay time and your pay will

be according as your work has been. You will find

in 2 Corinthians 5:10 the following: “For we must

all appear before the judgement seat of Christ,

that everyone may recive the things done in his

body according to that he hath done, whether it

be good or evil.” You will find in John 15:14. “Ye

are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command

you.” Solomon said in Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man

will hear and will increase learning, and a man of

understanding will attain unto wise counsel.”

How shall we escape if we neglect to great

Salvation: Hebrew 2:1-3 Salvation is to be worked

out. It will not work itself out; God will not work

TREVOR O’REILLY

REAGA

It’s been a long time since we’ve

seen such a great two-way foot-

ball player at a position that

requires a lot of contact. But

Trevor O’Reilly of Reagan spent

time as a full-back blocking for

Tavon Dodd all game long as

well as playing linebacker in the

Bulldogs’ 7-0 win over Tomball

Memorial. But with the game at

7-0 and Wildcats driving it was

O’Reilly who made the key

stops including a fourth down

play. Then as it came for time

to run out the clock Coach

Stephen Dixon and his staff

called on O’Reilly to carry the

lead and he made the key runs to

pick up the first down the seal

the win. It was the 10th win of

the season for the Bulldogs

against only 1 defeat. Maybe

we should say that again

because some might find it hard

to believe, yes Reagan won 10

games this year. The 6 feet one

inch 245 pound senior was not

to be the denied a chance to play

in week twelve by Tomball

Memorial. “Normally I’m a full-

back but they wanted me to run

the ball so I just ran hard”.

O’Reilly went onto say he feels

the team is doing well and coach

Dixon has been doing a wonder-

ful job and they are now build-

ing a staff so they are going to

do well for years to come.

It was O’Reilly who scored on a

10-yard run the Bulldogs only

points in their 21-7 loss to

Pearland-Dawson.

ROIE WESLEY-LAMAR

As the Lamar Redskins rolled to

their 12th win of the season

against no defeats Ronnie

Wesley continues to blossom.

The junior 5 feet 9 inch running

back is a solid 175 pounds and

runs very hard. Teaming with

former Studewood Cobra Levy

(Smokey) Whiteing giving the

Skins some balance at running

back as full back, James

Williams leads the way for both

of them. We spoke with Wesley

who scored in the game and

gathered some of his thoughts.

“It was really a hard game and

all playoffs teams are good but

we were able to do whatever it

took to win the game”. As we

talked more with Wesley he

brought up the fact his teammate

Whiteing had some advice for

him. “Yeh Smoke told me they

(Lions) were going for the strip

so he told me to hold on to the

ball and run hard”.

The Skins have a real good

defense and it has to make the

job of the offense little easier.

“Yes sir I’d say our defense won

the game for us today with them

allowing no points, we just had

to score in order to win the

game”.

In closing Wesley made it clear

from here on in all games are

going to be dog fights and

Lamar must continue to play

well in order to keep winning

games!

Truer words were never spoken

and the Redskins have that in

mind and will face Pearland on

Friday at Mercer at 1:00 PM.

On a cold gusty wind day at

Delmar Stadium senior QB

Darrell Colbert hit on 15 of 27

passes for 217 yards and two

touchdowns. Late in the first

period Colbert connected to

fleet-footed Shelby Walker on

26 and 53 yards plays that setup

Ronnie Wesley’s one yard

plunge. The offense stalled for a

while until the second half as

Colbert found tight end Justin

Hollie from 9 yards out for a

touchdown in the third period.

Colbert then hit fleet-footed

receiver Shelby Walker from 34

yards out less than three minutes

later to put the game out of

reach. The excited Colbert is

ready to go against Pearland

because in his sophomore year it

was Pearland that eliminated

them from the state playoffs.

“We will be ready for them

come Friday” The two teams

hook up at Mercer Stadium at

1:00 PM for a chance to go the

regional title game a week later.

Colbert the son of former

Beaumont Westbrook state

championship receiver Darrell

Colbert who went to play at

TSU and the Kansas City Chiefs

in the NFL. “Yes sir you know

he tells us about his state title

team from Westbrook 31 years

ago but I want to win one as

well”.

Speaking about the past Colbert

feels the team has rallied to get

back to the state because they

don’t want to have the same

feeling when they lost in the

state title game last year.

Colbert went on to say everyday

his team works hard to see to it

that they are ready to play on

game day. “I don’t feel too much

pressure because our coaches do

a very good job of putting us in

position to win ballgames and

we are getting good play from

some of our younger players”.

Colbert went to add the

Redskins had two big-name

players to leave to college, but

they still have six Division I

players on their squad this year

who are stepping up right now.

“Our defense is playing very

well much like the one did a

year ago”.

In closing we consider ourselves

to be blessed when we can chat

with such a fine youngster and a

great football player 31 years

prior we interviewed his father

at the Astrodome when

Beaumont Westbrook won the

state title in 1982.
