Dallas, Texas-Man oh Man here

we go again taking a stroll down

Memory Lane. As Minnie

Rippleton use to sing this is truly

a trip ‘back down Memory

Lane’. We test drove the

Chevrolet SS Sedan the first

Chevy V8 rear-wheel perform-

ance Sedan since 1996. Going

back to the big Caprice LTZ man

it seems like such a long time

ago. But without a doubt the

new SS Sedan got the attention

of American all over the

Country. It was very hard to be

going down the streets and not

punch it. Equipped with a LS3

6.2 Liter V8 engine that pro-

duces 415 horses and 415

pounds per foot of torque. Man

this baby scats from 0-6 in about

5 seconds and that bass exhausts

sound coming from those

chrome tips duals out the back

takes you back to the 60s and

70s when the Impala SS Ruled

the road. The new SS get a 14

miles per gallon in the city and

21 on the highway, owner will

be assessed a gas guzzler tax of

1,300 dollars along with the

price tag of more than 46 grand

on our test vehicle.

We must applaud Chevrolet

Motor Division for making this

product line available again.

There’s no way you can pass on

going to the local Chevy dealer

and taking a look at this well

build stylist sport performance

sedan.

The new Chevy SS is built in

Elizabeth, South Australia and

has 61 per cent of its part from

Australia and only 16 per cent

from Mexico and 7 per cent

from the United States and

Canada. Fact is both the engine

and transmission a Hydra 6L80

six-speed automatic with

Tapshift are built in Mexico.

An aluminum hood and deck lid

are 30 per cent lighter than tradi-

tional steel panels. With a race-

car like stance the new SS looks

the part and certainly lives up to

it. Power rolls to the pavement

on Forged aluminum wheels

wrapped with high performance

Bridestone tires with 19 X 8.5-

inch wheels with 245/40R19

tires in front and19X9 inch

the SS badges on the back of the

front bucket seats and on the

right front side of the dashboard.

adjustable driver seat with 8-way

South Houston, Texas-It’s good

to see a home grown vehicle

reach 30 years of productions.

That’s the case with the 2014

Dodge Caravan SXT as we test

drive it the other week. Our test

vehicle and all its features came

in handy as we assisted Bishop

Joe Simon’s Community

Outreach Programs meeting with

Well Fargo. The meet was the

discuss the foreclosure proper-

ties the Giant Home Mortgage

Lender is making available

through Churches and Non-prof-

it Organizations for low to mod-

erate income families.

A new stylist grille greats you

on the new Caravan and the

overall sleek look and outstand-

ing interior layout makes you

forget you are in a Mini-van.

Power for this vehicle is a 3.6

Liter V6 24-valve VVT engine

and it’s mated to a 6-speed auto-

matic transmission.

Economically speaking the new

Caravan offers 18 miles per gal-

lon in the city and 26 miles per

gallon on the highway, and

offers a 20-gallon fuel tank.

The good thing is we had the

opportunity to put six full adults

plus all the production equip-

ment and we still had a firm ride

and good pickup as we went to

and from the Church where the

meeting was held to eat before

going to a Church of the Lord

and Savior, where George

Foreman is the pastor later in the

evening.

Let me say the Dodge Caravan

has came a very long ways over

the years. Now it would have to

be one of the industry’s leaders

when it comes to quality for the

price. Fact is fully equipped our

test vehicle came in at 32, 475.

That wonderful to say the least.

Standard features includes power

liftgate, both left and right

power sliding doors making for

easy access in and out of the

vehicle. They also have safety

features in the event you bump it

and the door re-opens automati-

cally. A full compliments of air

bags for this van as well as such

features a 4-wheel disc brakes

and all the safety features you

expect to find on Sports Touring

Sedans.

Inside the new Caravan you are

greeted to a comfortable layout

with pass-through center console

and clear and easy to read

instrument cluster and big driver

friendly gauges. The four buck-

et seats a leather trimmed and

armrests for them with the sec-

ond row fold in floor seats.

Steering wheel mounted con-

trols help make the steering give

off a more expensive look. The

way the front seats are con-

toured it makes you get that

racecar like feeling!

Sounds are provided by a 430

CD/DVD/MP3/HDD with 40

GB Hard drive and28 GB avail-

able and navigation plus Sirius

Satellite radio to go along with

it.

The smooth ride is enhanced by

17-inch polished aluminum

wheel with Satin Carbon

Pockets.

With an overall 4-star score

from the NHTSA with five stars

for both front and rear passen-

gers in side crashes being its

high point.

Dodge had confidence in this

vehicle by offering a 5-

year/100,000 mile power train

warranty along with 5-year or

100,000 miles Roadside assis-

tance but restrictions do apply.

Please ask your local Dealer for

details.

In closing please allow me to

add the Leather Suede Buckets

seats with Black/light gray stone

interior went well with the

Granite Crystal Metallic clear

coat exterior finish.

DODGE CARAVAN CELEBRATES 30TH YEARBy King Arthur Prayther

A King-Size View

The 2014 Dodge Caravan SXT 30th Anniversary Edition

Missouri City, Texas- For the

2014 model year the new Jeep

Patriot Latitude 4 X 4 is pushing

its way into the crowded small

SUV market place. Value is

high and the price is very com-

petitive and those are two of the

items required to make a dent in

a big market. With a base price

of just under 24 grand and our

test vehicle max out at just over

27 Grand we consider it a good

solid buy.

With brand new overall styling

the new Patriot 4 X 4 has an

aggressive looking grille and big

round head lights that reminds

you of the 70s. A big vertical

grille goes well with the new

wider stance and aggressive side

panels.

One thing about the Patriot it is

68 per cent from the United

States and Canada with the final

assembly point being Belvidere,

Illinois. The engine is built in

the U S while the transmission is

built in Mexico.

Our test vehicle came in Dark

Blue Pearl Coat Exterior paint

with a Dark Slate Gray time

and seat colors. Needless to say

we were impressed with the

color schemes of this model and

people at work took notice as

well.

Power plant is a 2.4 liter In-line

4-cylinder DOHC 16 valve VVT

engine mated to a continuously

variable transmission with off-

road crawl ratio.

Among the standard features are

supplemental side-curtain front

and rear airbags.

Just to show how much Jeep

stands with this vehicle it has a

5-year/100,000 miles power

train limited Warranty and 3-

year or 36,000 mile basic limited

warranty along with 5-year or

100,000 miles roadside assis-

tance.

Such features in Hill start Assist

and 4-wheel disc anti-locking

brakes with Brake assist and

speed control. The safety list is

strong with advanced multi-

stage front air bags along with

side-curtain front and rear air

bags and front seat mounted side

air bags along with active head-

rest restraints. A tire pressure

monitoring and stability control

with electronic roll Mitigation to

round it all out.

Inside the new Jeep has a 6.5

inch touch screen display and a

40 GB Hard Drive with 28 GB

available. Uconnect 430

CD/DVD/MP3/HDD with

remote USB port, Sirius XM

Satellite radio with voice com-

mand Bluetooth.

In closing please allow me to

add the new Patriot also has

folding flat load floor storage

and full-length floor console.

I don’t get surprised anymore by

the columns I write I submit to

the part, but I was somewhat

caught off guard when a fan

came up to me and said I was

right about the attendace at the

girls playoff games. Manvel 5A

Region III Champion on 2014

deserved more support from all

of us.

I’m goin to Austin March 1,

2014 to watch Manvel play for

the state title if they win their

state semi-final on Friday 2-28-

14. I’m to keep writing about

this because these young female

athletes deserve the support! I’m

glad to know that my columns

are reachin the public in such

way that people see things dif-

ferently.

As I entered the M.O. Campbell

Center in the Aldine

Independant School District to

attend the Region II 5A and 4A

Girls Basketball tournament, I

noticed the same sight I’ve

observed for the last twelve

months. Where were the fams? I

kid you not dear readers...where

were the fans!?

They were not outside the arena,

nor was there a big crowd on the

freeways going north to get to

the site. Yes this was the annual

rodeo parade for Saturday 02/22,

but that was completed by noon.

Their was plenty of time for fans

to load everyone up in the car,

SUV or truck to make the trip to

Campbell to support these young

athletes. But sadly few did. I

have thought about this issue for

years but never sat down at my

computer to type a column about

it. This time I had to because it

is painful and an outright shame

of all of us. These young ladies

very hard to play sports. They

are not only competing against

each other but sadly a mindset

that should be out of our minds

years ago. There seems to a dead

idea that still hangs on that

women should not play sports.

Yes I know that sounds stupid to

print this but yes there are many

of us walking around muttering

this idiotic thought. Some of us

won’t support young women

playing sports even if we are

related to them. I watched

talented athletic young ladies

play their hearts out to have the

chance to advance to Austin

Texas to play for a state

championship. Many have

worked for this moment for

years. They just DESERVE the

support of family and close

friends to enjoy this special

moment. I sat there in the arena

and watched the joy of

League City Clear Springs cele-

brating their 2013 Region III

basketball title, They won it and

had a blast doing so. It’s just a

outright shame that they did it

with so few fans in the arena.

Katy Seven Lakes High School,

Clear Springs’ opponent, wasn’t

any better regarding fan atten-

dance. I understand that we all

have a ton of things to do in 48-

hour weekend. Families are

loaded with children activites,

errands and sometimes (we

know “sometimes” always

means “most times”) activities

that just wears everyone out and

then Sunday is upon us and its

time for the 40-hour grind

beginning Monday all over

again. I get that. But can’t we

squeeze in a couple of hours for

these young ladies; our daugh-

ters, neices, cousins and friends?

Don’t we understand that those

little girls sitting in the stands

with those big eyes are watching

those young ladies on the court

and thinking to themselves that

soon very soon when they reach

thier teenage years they too can

play basketball!? Can we just

think of them sometime? No I

guess not, because the attend-

naxe will continue to be small

and we will always question as

to why.

We have people wasting gas and

attempting to crash phony

alleged stars and ‘their’ parties

just to gossip about who was

there at the event, what they

were wearing and more impor-

tantly who they were seen with.

The more times change, the

more things never seem to

change. That’s just the way I see

it!

February 2014 A King-Size View Page 4

SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE

As we continue our journey of

covering some of the States’

finest students we made a trip to

the Gardens area. There while

covering the Tigers Annual

Football Banquet we ran into La

Tonya Pierre. She’s a lovely and

talented freshman at Barbara

Jordan high school and is mak-

ing outstanding grades. La

Tonya is the daughter of Tamica

and Oliver Pierre and says she

likes Math best in the classroom.

“It has always been my favorite

and I’ve always done well in it”.

But he goals in life is to grow up

and learn to be a Family Court

Lawyer and own a Hair saloon

because she feels there is a good

living in Hair Care. “I love

Cosmopolitan and just think it

was be an excellent field to go

into as an adult.

In her spare time LaTonya is a

basketball junior coach and has

a sister who is great in track and

field. “I love being around

Athletics and my parents were

athletes so it a nature love for

me”.

On Sundays you’ll find the

Pierre family over at Faith

Temple Church and La Tonya

says it a big part of her life.

On the subject of school changes

La Tonya says if she were in

charge she would not force stu-

dents to wear uniforms and she

would increase the lunch period

back to one hour instead of the

30 minutes it now is. “Our

lunch period use to be an hour

and every since they changed it

to 30 minutes it’s just simply is

Not enough time to sit and relax

and enjoy your lunch period”.

When asked if she would change

anything if she could live her

life over again? LaTonya said

not a thing because she feels

gotten the most out of her life so

far.

In closing La Tonya praised her

parents and especially her moth-

er on being her most driving

force in life. “She stays on us

and follows up on all our class

work and make sure we get it

done!

Please allow me to add we

spoke briefly with Tamica and

she expressed to us she know

what pitfalls are out there and

makes sure her children avoid

them in life. Currently working

and going to school to become a

Registered Nurse, Tamica is

leading by example for her chil-

dren to follow!

“G-SPOT MINISTRIES” (#63) “GLORIOUS 25”

The one thing that is missing

more so than anything else these

days is inspiration. The inspira-

tion that led Stevie Wonder to

make the song "Love's in Need

of Love Today," What made Dr.

King have "A Dream" and that

made John F. Kennedy speak the

words "My fellow Americans

ask not what your country can

do for you, ask what can you

can do for your country".

Too often we think that to

inspire we have to be seen as

some type of famous public fig-

ure. This has been the gate keep-

er to the possibilities that have

the potential to raise the hopes

and dreams of youth all over the

world, starting in our own

homes. The best of the best is

inside of all of us, but lack of

inspiration has given us a reason

to look to others for what can be

done within ourselves. The rea-

son public figures get so much

attention (Good or Bad) is

because we have resigned our

power to influence our children

over to them.

Have you ever notice that people

today are more engaged in their

smart phones and tablets than

they are in other human beings?

The only thing that seems to

spark a real conversation

between two human beings face

to face these days is bad news or

unfounded rumors. With that

said how can we ever get back

to inspiring one another?

Could fear be stronger than the

promise of a better tomorrow,

could the thought of failure be a

deterrent to even trying to make

a difference, I think not.

Perceive what you will, but get

to know me and you will find

the spirit of a champion willing

to give my experiences to all

who will listen. I will be the

Stevie, the Dr. King, and the J.

F. K. of my day in my own way.

I hope you too can be the per-

sons that we will talk about as

difference makers, world chang-

ers, and role models that the

world is in desperate need of.

Be inspired, if not for you, for

your future, my future, and the

future of the young men and

women whom are wondering if

they can make it in this world of

ours. No radio station, television

station, or famous personality

can stand up to one person who

decides to make themselves a

positive influence. Your job

doesn't matter nor does your

position in life, what matters is

that you are willing to share

what you have accumulated over

your lifetime that can be of

some use to someone. The time

is now, the place is here, and the

who is you . . .

Be Inspired

Be Inspired

Not by what you have done

But what you can accomplish

Be Inspired

Not with what you have

But what you are worth

Be Inspired

Not with memories

But with hopes and dreams

Be Inspired

Not by the love you receive

But the love you give

Be Inspired

BY GOD, BY LIFE, BY FAITH

BE INSPIRED

Just when you think you've seen

it all then you realize you

haven't. Just when you think

you've reached an age when you

think you've got people and

things figured out "surprise" you

don't.

It's not that you

don't have wisdom from your

trials, tribulations or from past

mistakes and new successes. But

it often happens right when you

sink your toes into the carpet

and really begin to relax that

someone will jolt you back into

reality.

When you have taken years of

building friendships and rela-

tionships and you think people

know you and you know them

they can often show you a side

of themselves that you have

never seen before. Once the

immediate shock wears off you

can choose either to maintain a

close relationship with new

boundaries set in place or walk

away quietly.

People that often say they want

the best for you but have not

even achieved the best for them-

selves should be viewed without

rose colored glasses and seen for

who they really are. Maybe a

wolf in sheeps clothing. If you

are able to take their negative

comments and continue on your

journey with the stride of a

beautiful Clydesdale then you

know you are on your way.

You have to two options

1.address them or 2. pretend that

nothing has happen. Both should

be approached with care and

caution. You can have a conver-

sation and set those boundaries

or you can know in your heart

that what really matters is the

confidence you have in yourself

is sufficient and keep it moving.

Either way stay true to yourself

and continue to live your life.

Although it feels like it would

be most satisfying to point out

all the wrongs in their lives trust

me in the end it doesn't make

you feel better. What feels best

is to live YOUR best life.

I have been spending a lot of

time in and around Texas City

recently, both for business and

pleasure. What got me interested

in the background of this town is

a large sheet metal sculpture at

the intersection if I-45 and

Emmitt Lowery Expressway, but

more on that later.

Texas City is the third largest

port in Texas, behind Houston

and Galveston and is the

eleventh largest port in the

United States. The city was

founded by three brothers in

1981. They were in the area

hunting ducks and saw the

potential for a deep water port.

Two years later the Federal

Government gave the Texas City

Improvement Company permis-

sion to dredge the port to eight

feet. The Company also con-

structed a four mile rail line to

connect the port to Galveston,

Harrisburg, Houston and eventu-

ally the entire national rail net-

work making this port a real

force in international trade.

Over the years the channel was

dredged to forty feet and the

port extended for one and a half

miles. In 1900 dredging was

halted during the hurricane that

devastated Galveston. However,

the port remained open and no

ship traffic was diverted from

Texas. This put Texas City in the

spotlight as a serious deep water

port.

In 1905 the Texas City Refining

Company was established to

handle the Texas crude produced

as a result of the Spindletop dis-

covery. For years this was the

only refinery to manufacture

was and lubricating oils.

During the Mexican Revolution

in 1913 the United Stated posi-

tioned the Second Division in

Texas City to fight off the threat

from the Mexican Army. This

involved over 14,000 troops and

3,000 animals. The deployment

overwhelmed the city and

increased the population almost

tenfold. The hurricane of 1915

hit Texas City hard and

destroyed the encampment cost-

ing nine soldiers their lives. The

troops were moved to San

Antonio to continue the battle.

Texas City continued to prosper

until 1947 when the French Ship

Grandchamp loaded with ammo-

nium phosphate fertilizer mixed

with diesel fuel from a leaking

tank exploded. (This is very sim-

ilar to the materials used to

make the Oklahoma City bomb.)

The explosion killed 576 people

and injured over 4000. The dam-

age from the blast was estimated

to exceed $67 million. This is

considered the worst industrial

disaster in the history of our

country.

In 1988 The Emmett F. Lowery

Expressway was dedicated to the

memory of the Mayor of Texas

City who served from 1964 to

1987. Lowery was instrumental

in bringing the expressway that

links downtown Texas City to I-

45. At 10 feet above sea level,

the city is vulnerable to flooding

due to hurricanes. However,

when Hurricane Ike, which dev-

astated Galveston in 2008, left

Texas City mostly unharmed.

The main reason for this was the

17 mile long dyke that protected

much of the city. However a 12

foot storm surge ran over the

dyke and destroyed most of the

buildings and structures but the

dyke itself was unharmed. It was

closed for three years while the

buildings were rebuilt and

reopened in 2011.

History aside, what interested

me in the area was the abun-

dance of art. At the intersection

of I-45 and Emmett F. Lowery

Expressway are The Longhorns

by David Govedare. Dedicated

in 2000, the sculpture depicts

several longhorn steer and a

solar powered windmill.

Govedare has also created two

other pieces on display in the

city. They are Runners in the

Park at the Convention Center

and Somewhere on the Trail at

the Bay Street Park. All of these

works are in sheet metals.

Another prolific artist is Jane

DeDecker. She has at least seven

sculptures around town. Two of

my favorites are Like Grandpa

with a young boy pushing a

wheelbarrow located at the

Nessler Center and Safe Haven

in Rainbow Park depicting a

young girl seeking shelter in her

mother’s skirt. These works are

in bronze as are most of her

sculptures.

The third artist whose work I

enjoy is Gary Price. Price also

works in bronze and Family

Outing depicting a family on a

bicycle ride located in Central

Parkway is a very active and

lively work. I also very much

enjoy Synergy which is in front

of City Hall. Here five hands are

linked at the wrist. To me it

shows the strength and unity of

people joining together.

Finally the works of Scott

Schaffer really caught my eye.

Port Authority and Port

Authority II, both located at the

convention Center represent two

of the most prevalent birds along

the gulf coast, the brown pelican

and the seagull.

These are just a few of the

dozens of pieces of unique art

that are all around Texas City. If

you are interested in viewing

more of these sculptures you can

view this brochure at:

http://www.texas-city-

tx.org/RecTour/RecTourdocs/scu

lptures_brochure.pdf.

Information about Texas City in

general may be found at:

http://www.texas-city-tx.org/. A

day trip to Texas City to enjoy

the dyke and view the art is a

very worthwhile trip for children

and adults alike.

REO Community DevelopmentPremiere Asset ServicesSM

Premiere Asset ServicesSM (PAS), a division of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, seeks to stabilize communities by partnering with municipalities, nonprofit organizations, and land banks. Wells Fargo provides sustainable homeownership opportunities for neighborhoods and communities by providing a first look to approved organizations and donating low-value properties.

Discounted and donated properties are transferred with all taxes paid current and liens satisfied. Properties not sold through the first look program or donation are typically repaired and marketed to owner occupants to further stabilize communities.

The National Community Stabilization Trust (NCST), a nonprofit partner of PAS, conducts all organizational vetting, on boarding, and provides tools for the acquisition process. After an organization is approved, they work in conjunction with the NCST and Wells Fargo to acquire properties via the donation program or the NCST First Look Program.

Nonprofit application process for first look and donationsNCST inquiries and application requests should be sent to [email protected]. To review basic eligibility requirements, please visit www.stabilizationtrust.com.

Specific inquires regarding PAS REO Community Development should be sent to [email protected].

Locating a property Approved organizations work with the NCST to identify, review, and accept properties using market analysis and online resources.

Organizations working outside of the NCST and owner-occupants can search for properties at reo.wellsfargo.com and have the ability to set property alerts.

Home buyer priority periodIf all qualifying first look buyers pass on a property, and it is determined not to be a donation candidate, it is listed for sale and is available for review on reo.wellsfargo.com. PAS gives owner-occupant buyers the opportunity to purchase their next home without competition from buyers not intending to occupy the property by establishing a homeowner priority period on all listings:

No offers will be considered during the first seven calendar days a home is listed.

Offers from buyers intending to occupy the property as their primary residence, nonprofits, municipalities, will be considered.

Offers from all buyers will be considered.

The Community Outreach

Program of Bishop Joe Simon

teamed up with Wells Fargo for

a big successful meeting at

Bethel Institutional Missionary

Baptist Church. Pastor Dr.

Murphy D. Simon Jr. a Worthing

High School Graduate was hon-

ored to host the meeting. “King

I tell you the Lord was in the

House and the Bethel Church

Family want to thank Wells

Fargo and Bishop Joe Simon for

selecting us for the meeting site

and we are looking forward to

continuing forward and building

this program.

Bishop Joe Simon said with a

smile on his face we got the

people feeling good and that’s

fantastic, the Lord is Good”.

Wells Fargo Senior Vice

President Russ Cross said before

heading back to the Airport he

was very pleased with the enthu-

siasm people showed. “King I

feel the people are ready to

rebuild this community and we

at Wells Fargo want to do what

we can to help”.

Let me say the REO program as

well as the Donation programs

are being looked over from all

kinds of companies with 501(C)

3 including Churches and other

Non-profit companies. We have

made the information available

in A King-size View and

www.kingsizeview.com. By the

time you read this column more

information will be available so

companies will know how to

access more information on how

to get involved in this program!

In addition to working with

Bethel Church Bishop Joe

Simon got a chance to take in a

basketball game at TSU. The

Bishop also held many meeting

all over the City spreading the

word about the good deeds of

Wells Fargo and information

about his Community Outreach

Program.

Among the things Simon did

was visit SHAPE Center and

found it to be very interesting to

say the least. He shopped at

Fiesta on South Main and was

very pleased with the service he

received during his visit. A

lunch with Keith Jacobsen of

Fiesta warmed Simon heart as

the two talked about working for

our Lord and Savior. He also

visited with Skipper Lee Frazier

at his home and on the phone

with Travis Gardner formally of

KCOH. Visiting with Michael

Harris who produced a photo of

two of them from the late 80s.

Look at the Hair in those pho-

tos!

Finally when the day was done

we took him to Church once

again, this time it was where

Two-Time World Heavy-weight

Champion George Foreman

delivers the Word. What a way

to close out his visit to Houston!

Let me say many thanks goes

out to Lary “Chatta Box” Hale

of KTSU 90.9 FM Sports, Don

Samuel of KCOH Memory and

More on KCOH AM 1230, and

Latisha Jackson of KWWJ

Prairie View, Texas-There’s a

Thrill upon the Hill at Prairie

View when the Tigers of TSU

come to town each year. The

annual basketball match-up

between the two SWAC Schools

was the talk of the town. The

William J. Nicks center was full

before half time of the Women

game. TSU had won the first

meeting in triple overtime and

the Panthers wanted to get back

at them. With the Panthers got

off to a great start but TSU

fought back to close to within

47-41 at the half. It was more of

the same in the second half as

TSU caught out and went out

front by a good margin only to

have the Panthers close the gap

and take the lead for good. The

scored was tied 5 times and the

lead changed 15 times in the

barn burner. Demondre

Chapman had a big game with

23 points 3 boards and a steal.

“I had heard a lot about this

Murray guy (Aaric 6’10”) the

first time I went against him I

just tried to play defense on him

but tonight our coaches told me

to attack him and make him

work on defense”. Chapman

was able to get the line making

5 of 9 free throws and he felt

good about Rasi Jenkins gave

them some great minutes in the

win. “Jenkins has worked his

butt off and he is willing to help

us win by doing the dirty work

like taking charges blocking

shots and so forth I love the way

he is playing for us”. In closing

Chapman said the Panthers

played smart football down the

stretch by not rushing and work-

ing the clock and taking good

shots.

In the women game the Lady

Tigers of TSU edged P V 63-60

after leading 33-31 at the half.

The Lady Panthers received

their SWAC Championship rings

at the half time of the game.

TSU rode the hot hand of

Brianna Sidney who led the way

with 23 points while Jazzmin

Parker added 11 and Sarah

Williams chipped in 10 as the

won for the 9th time in 10 con-

ference games. First year coach

Everyone felt all along it was

the Lady Mavericks of Manvel

the favorite to win the girls class

5A region III basketball title. It

just so happen with Brianna

Turner leading the way they did

just that as they ran away from

Cy Woods 58-42. Leading by as

many as 20 points at 46-26 the

Lady Mavs lived up to their

billing having now beaten all 28

Houston area opponents they

faced. Their 36-2 mark is truly

impressive when you consider

the two losses came to

Nationally ranked teams includ-

ing two-time Defending State

Champs Duncanville. But coach

Bryan Harris don’t want to look

past Plano West, the school they

face on Friday night in order to

face the Duncanville game win-

ner. With most of their team

returning from last year’s

regional quarter finalist, they set

their sights on going to the big

dance and they are headed to

Austin.

The McDonald’s All-American

Turner says it’s been rough with

of Houston really going after

them game after game. She led a

three year run that netted an

average of 34 wins a season.

Beating a good but young Cy

Woods team, the Lady Mavs

have their work cut out for them

in Austin. We certainly want to

wish them the best of luck!

THIS WEEK IN BASKETBALL: LADY MAVS OF MANVEL WINS REGION III TITLE

Prairie View, Texas-In his 8th

year in charge of the Men’s

Program at Prairie View Byron

Rimm II is holding his own.

The 99 graduate of Cal State-

Los Angeles and his staff of

Ansar Al-ameen, Byron Smith,

Randy Washington and Jethro

Hillman are working hard to get

the Panthers to play consistence

basketball. “We felt we had to

get this win going against our

cross-town Rival. The Panthers

came into the TSU game at 4-

5in Conference play and won it

85-77. “Our guys played hard

and it was by any means neces-

sary tonight and I’m proud of

the intensity our guys showed on

the court tonight. A packed

House at the William J. Nicks

Baby Dome witness the Panthers

hard fought victory over TSU.

Using a good balance scoring

attack the Panthers won it when

it counted most. “ Yes Montrael

Scott (26 Points), Demondre

Chapman (23 Points) and John

Brisco (16 points) all shot the

ball well tonight, plus it was the

little things that made the differ-

ence”.

With the game on the line

Reggis Onwukamuche drew the

charge that put it out of reach for

TSU. Plus the big block by Rasi

Jenkins who had 5 points and 7

boards and two big blocks. “

The big block by Rasi was great

he’s only 6 feet 6 but he has

long arms and it came hand,

plus Reggis stepped in and drew

the charge we got the plays

when we needed them.

Rimm was glad to get out of the

game with a 5-5 Conference

mark when the dust settled.

“You know TSU got some great

kids on their squad probably two

or three guys who are going to

play pro so that 3 overtime game

back in Houston gave us confi-

dence we could play with these

guys”.

In closing Luis Monks lay-up

gave the Panthers the lead for

good. “Yes you know Luis

came up big and went down the

middle I actually thought he was

going to dunk the ball but he

made a smooth lay-up”.

Please Get your Bibles andFollow this Study! Is theObservance of Easter, by theChurch or anyone else, authorized by God throughJesus Christ and his Apostles?

We ask this question because, those of us that proclaim to beChristians, have been given acommandment by the words ofthe apostles of our Lord andSavour Jesus Christ; “1Thes5:21 Prove all things; hold fastthat which is good.” But first, bear with us as we be scriptural-ly reminded of the order ofthings, if you will, “The Chainof Command” in the belief ofGOD. Jesus DEFINES those thatare and those that are NOT ofGod, please read; “John 8:47He that is of God hearethGod’s words: ye therefore hearthem not, because ye are not ofGod.” God made it clear in HisWord, that we MUST hear JesusChrist His beloved son, and inverse 8, him ONLY; “Matt.17:4Then answered Peter, and saidunto Jesus, Lord, it is good forus to be here: if thou wilt, let usmake here three tabernacles;one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While heyet spake, behold, a bright cloudovershadowed them: and beholda voice out of the cloud, whichsaid, This is my beloved Son,in whom I am well pleased;hear ye him. 6 And when thedisciples heard it, they fell ontheir face, and were sore afraid.7And Jesus came and touchedthem, and said, Arise, and be notafraid. 8 And when they had lift-ed up their eyes, they saw noman, save Jesus only.” John12:48 He that rejecteth me, andreceiveth not my words, hathone that judgeth him: the wordthat I have spoken, the sameshall judge him in the last day.49 For I have not spoken ofmyself; but the Father whichsent me, he gave me a com-mandment, what I should say,and what I should speak.

Jesus, the only one that God hascommanded us to hear, tells ushow we must believe on him;“John 17:17 Sanctify themthrough thy truth: thy word istruth.18 As thou hast sent meinto the world, even so have Ialso sent them into the world.19And for their sakes I sanctifymyself, that they also might besanctified through the truth.20either pray I for these alone, but for them also which shallbelieve on me through theirword; 21 That they all may beone; as thou, Father, art in me,and I in thee, that they also maybe one in us: that the world maybelieve that thou hast sent me.”We must believe on Christ onlyin the manner he has stated, through his Apostle’s word, sim-ply because he said so; being thehead of every man; “1 Cor 11:1Be ye followers of me, even as Ialso am of Christ. 2 Now Ipraise you, brethren, that yeremember me in all things, andkeep the ordinances, as I deliv-ered them to you. 3 But I would

have you know, that the headof every man is Christ; and thehead of the woman is the man;and the head of Christ is God.”

Before Jesus ascended back intoheaven, he left instructions withhis apostles; “Matt 28:16 Thenthe eleven disciples went awayinto Galilee, into a mountainwhere Jesus had appointed them.17 And when they saw him, theyworshipped him: but somedoubted. 18 And Jesus cameand spake unto them, saying,All power is given unto me inheaven and in earth. 19 Go yetherefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name ofthe Father, and of the Son, andof the Holy Ghost: 20 Teachingthem to observe all thingswhatsoever I have commandedyou: and, lo, I am with youalway, even unto the end of theworld. Amen.” These instruc-tions are for the one church thatJesus is building; “Matt 16:16And Simon Peter answered andsaid, Thou art the Christ, theSon of the living God. 17 AndJesus answered and said untohim, Blessed art thou, SimonBarjona: for flesh and bloodhath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heav-en. 18 And I say also unto thee,That thou art Peter, and uponthis rock I will build mychurch; and the gates of hellshall not prevail against it.”Upon what rock; Christ for he isthe Head of the church? “Eph1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, anddominion, and every name thatis named, not only in this world, but also in that which is tocome: 22 And hath put all thingsunder his feet, and gave him tobe the head over all things tothe church, 23 Which is hisbody, the fulness of him that fil-leth all in all.”(See Eph. 4:14-16, 5:23-24)Jesus gave instructions to hisApostles, the ones that God gavehim, on how to run HIS church,as they were guided by TheHoly Ghost. No one else wasgiven this authority. Rememberhe told them in verses 16 thru18 of Matt. 28th chapter, thatall power had been given him,by his Father in heaven and inearth. Jesus also told them inverses 19&20 to go and teachall nations, and to baptize. Healso made it clear by whatnames baptism was to be doneand what things they were toteach to be observed, and thosewere the things Jesus had com-manded them. There were alsothings that he had yet to tell hisapostles, after ascending backinto heaven. According to scrip-ture this was to be done by TheHoly Ghost “The Comforter”,The Spirit of Truth, please read;“John 16:7 Nevertheless I tellyou the truth; It is expedient foryou that I go away: for if I gonot away, the Comforter will notcome unto you; but if I depart, Iwill send him unto you. 8 Andwhen he is come, he willreprove the world of sin, and ofrighteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believenot on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, andye see me no more; 11 Of judg-ment, because the prince of thisworld is judged. 12 I have yetmany things to say unto you, butye cannot bear them now. 13Howbeit when he, the Spirit oftruth, is come, he will guideyou into all truth: for he shallnot speak of himself; but what-soever he shall hear, that shall hespeak: and he will shew youthings to come. 14 He shall glo-rify me: for he shall receive ofmine, and shall shew it untoyou. 15 All things that theFather hath are mine: thereforesaid I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.”

How then MUST we believe andhear Jesus? According to Jesus,it is NOT through some voicethat comes to us, but ratherthrough his APOSTLES wordsas THEY were guided by TheHoly Ghost; the things that areWRITTEN. Please read; “John17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.17 Sanctify them through thytruth: thy word is truth. 18 Asthou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent theminto the world. 19 And for theirsakes I sanctify myself, that theyalso might be sanctified throughthe truth. 20 Neither pray I forthese alone, but for them alsowhich shall believe on methrough their word; 21 Thatthey all may be one; as thou,Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us:that the world may believe thatthou hast sent me.“Eph 3:1 Forthis cause I Paul, the prisoner ofJesus Christ for you Gentiles, 2If ye have heard of the dispensa-tion of the grace of God whichis given me to you-ward: 3 Howthat by revelation he madeknown unto me the mystery; (asI wrote afore in few words, 4Whereby, when ye read, yemay understand my knowl-edge in the mystery of Christ)5 Which in other ages was notmade known unto the sons ofmen, as it is now revealed untohis holy apostles and prophetsby the Spirit;”. “I Jn 4:5 Theyare of the world: therefore speakthey of the world, and the worldheareth them.6 We are of God:he that knoweth God hearethus; he that is not of Godheareth not us. Hereby knowwe the spirit of truth, and thespirit of error.”

We MUST remember theChurch by Christ (see Eph.3:20-21), the one he is building, andis the Head of, has been com-manded not to follow traditionsand commandments of men (seeMatt. 15:8-10; Col.2:8-12; 18-23; Titus1:13-14), but to followthe traditions and command-ments of the apostles which isfound in New Testament scrip-ture (Acts 2:41-42; 1Cor.11:1-2; Philp.4:9; 2Thes.2:13-15;3:6). It is true; Jesus and hisApostles did observed thePassover, before his death. Jesus

was born under the Law(seeGal.4:4), and so was hisApostles. After his cruel deathon the cross; the NewTestament, which was in hisblood (see1Cor.11:25), and afterHis resurrection, we find noscriptural evidence of himobserving such. Neither do wefind any instructions in the apos-tles’ doctrine and or word, forthe Church that Christ is build-ing, (Acts 2:47) to observe such.We believe that we are SAFEand COMPLETE ONLY inChrist Jesus, NOT in Moses,Elias or anyone else, note whatthe apostle Paul admonished theChurch in Colosse to do; “Col2:5 For though I be absent inthe flesh, yet am I with you inthe spirit, joying and beholdingyour order, and the stedfastnessof your faith in Christ. 6 As yehave therefore received ChristJesus the Lord, so walk ye inhim: 7 Rooted and built up inhim, and stablished in the faith,as ye have been taught, abound-ing therein with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest any man spoil youthrough philosophy and vaindeceit, after the tradition ofmen, after the rudiments of theworld, and not after Christ. 9For in him dwelleth all the ful-ness of the Godhead bodily. 10And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all princi-pality and power: 11 In whomalso ye are circumcised with thecircumcision made withouthands, in putting off the body ofthe sins of the flesh by the cir-cumcision of Christ: 12 Buriedwith him in baptism, whereinalso ye are risen with himthrough the faith of the opera-tion of God, who hath raisedhim from the dead.”

Remember Christ left the apos-tles and only them instructions,and or commands on the thingsthat ARE to be OBSERVED (seeMatt.28:16-20), by the Churchthat he is the head of ; “Col 1:12Giving thanks unto the Father,which hath made us meet to bepartakers of the inheritance ofthe saints in light: 13 Who hathdelivered us from the power ofdarkness, and hath translated usinto the kingdom of his dearSon: 14 In whom we haveredemption through his blood,even the forgiveness of sins: 15Who is the image of the invisi-ble God, the firstborn of everycreature: 16 For by him were allthings created, that are in heav-en, and that are in earth, visibleand invisible, whether they bethrones, or dominions, or princi-palities, or powers: all thingswere created by him, and forhim: 17 And he is before allthings, and by him all thingsconsist. 18 And he is the headof the body, the church: who isthe beginning, the firstborn fromthe dead; that in all things hemight have the (1)preeminence.19 For it pleased the Father thatin him should all fulness dwell;

Definition: (1)preeminence-4409 proteuo (prote-yoo’-o);from 4413; to be first, to holdthe first place (in rank or influ-

ence): KJV— have the preemi-nence.

We must also remember thatJesus Christ, the only begottenof God was and is perfect, andso is The Holy Spirit. They didnot forget anything, so that evenbefore the deaths of all theapostles, there were offices putin place for the overseeing of theChurch by Christ, the one thathe is building (see Matt.16:16-18; Acts20:16-17, 26-31,Philp.1:1; 1Tim.3:1-12; 5:17;Titus1:5-11; Heb.13:17-18).They, as well as all those thatprofesses to be Christians, mustfollow the traditions and com-mandments of the apostles asthey were guided by the HolySpirit, until The Chief Shepherdshall appear; “1 Pet 5:1 Theelders which are among you Iexhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferingsof Christ, and also a partaker ofthe glory that shall be revealed:2 Feed the flock of God which isamong you, taking the oversightthereof, not by constraint, butwillingly; (1)not for filthylucre, but of a ready mind; 3Neither as being lords overGod’s heritage, but being ensam-ples to the flock. 4 And whenthe chief Shepherd shallappear, ye shall receive a crownof glory that fadeth not away. 5Likewise, ye younger, submityourselves unto the elder. Yea,all of you be subject one toanother, and be clothed withhumility: for God resisteth theproud, and giveth grace to thehumble. 6 Humble yourselvestherefore under the mighty handof God, that he may exalt you indue time:” “2Pet 3:1 This sec-ond epistle, beloved, I now writeunto you; in both which I stir upyour pure minds by way ofremembrance: 2 That ye may bemindful of the words whichwere spoken before by the holyprophets, and of the command-ment of us the apostles of theLord and Saviour:”

Definition: (1)not for filthylucre-147 aischrokerdos (ahee-skhrok-er-doce’); adverb from146; sordidly: KJV— for filthylucre’s sake, eagerness for basegain; 146 aischrokerdes-eagerfor base gain, greedy for money

I hope we are clear on the orderof things (chain of command)according to New Testamentscripture. Now let us begin toanswer the question; “Is theObservance of Easter, by theChurch or anyone else, authorized by God throughJesus Christ and hisApostles?” Let us start with thetwo origins and there traditions. Now let us by scripture, proveEaster #1. Easter, which meansPassover, was given by Mosesfrom God to be OBSERVED bythe children of Israel accordingto the law. It was never given tothe Church by Christ, to beobserved by Christians accord-ing to the Apostle’s doctrine andor word. Christ is the end of theLaw (see John 1:17, Rom.10:1-5).

WHAT IS TRUTH? Is the Observance of Easter, authorized by God through Jesus Christ and his Apostles?

Notice the difference in the twoEasters, the first one we can findscripture for the customs, tradi-tions and sacrifices that was setin place. Again this was given toMoses by God, for the Israelitesand for a specific reason. Thepreparation of the foods thatthey were to partake of wasspecified by God throughMoses, Please read;

Definition: Easter 3957 pascha(pas’-khah); of Aramaic origin[compare 6453]; the Passover(the meal, the day, the festival orthe special sacrifices connectedwith it); 1) the paschal sacrifice(which was accustomed to beoffered for the people’s deliver-ance of old from Egypt) 2) thepaschal lamb, that is, the lambthe Israelites were accustomedto kill and eat on the 14th dayof the month of Nisan (the firstmonth of their year) in memoryof the day on which theirfathers, preparing to depart fromEgypt, were bidden by God toslay and eat a lamb, and tosprinkle their door posts with itsblood, that the destroying angel, seeing the blood, might passover their dwellings; the paschalfeast, the feast of the Passover, extending from the 14th to the20th day of the month Nisan:KJV— Easter, Passover.

Exod 12:1 And the LORDspake unto Moses and Aaronin the land of Egypt, saying, 2This month shall be unto you thebeginning of months: it shall bethe first month of the year toyou. 3 Speak ye unto all thecongregation of Israel, saying,In the tenth day of this monththey shall take to them everyman a lamb, according to thehouse of their fathers, a lamb foran house: 4 And if the house-hold be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour nextunto his house take it accordingto the number of the souls; everyman according to his eating shallmake your count for the lamb. 5Your lamb shall be withoutblemish, a male of the first year:ye shall take it out from thesheep, or from the goats: 6 Andye shall keep it up until the four-teenth day of the same month:and the whole assembly of thecongregation of Israel shall killit in the evening. 7 And theyshall take of the blood, andstrike it on the two side postsand on the upper door post ofthe houses, wherein they shalleat it. 8 And they shall eat theflesh in that night, roast withfire, and unleavened bread; andwith bitter herbs they shall eat it.9 Eat not of it raw, nor soddenat all with water, but roast withfire; his head with his legs, andwith the (1)purtenance thereof.10 And ye shall let nothing of itremain until the morning; andthat which remaineth of it untilthe morning ye shall burn withfire. 11 And thus shall ye eat it;with your loins girded, yourshoes on your feet, and yourstaff in your hand; and ye shalleat it in haste: it is the LORD’spassover. 12 For I will passthrough the land of Egypt this

night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, bothman and beast; and against allthe gods of Egypt I will executejudgment: I am the LORD. 13And the blood shall be to youfor a token upon the houseswhere ye are: and when I see theblood, I will pass over you, andthe plague shall not be upon youto destroy you, when I smite theland of Egypt. 14 And this dayshall be unto you for a memo-rial; and ye shall keep it a feastto the LORD throughout yourgenerations; ye shall keep it afeast by an ordinance for ever.15 Seven days shall ye eatunleavened bread; even the firstday ye shall put away leaven outof your houses: for whosoevereateth leavened bread from thefirst day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off fromIsrael.

Exod 12:47 All the congrega-tion of Israel shall keep it. Thefirst Easter “Passover” wasauthorized by God throughMoses, to Israel and is of thetruth. The instructions of obser-vance and the dates were set, byGod, and it was much earlierthan A.D. 325. If Christians areunder the Old Law “The Law ofMoses”, which we are notaccording to the apostle’s doc-trine, then all of the instructionsof observance including theSACRIFICES and the datesgiven, must be followed circum-spect, to be right “righteous”with God. There were no fables, nor Greek gods or goddesses, init. We must remember ChristiansMUST follow Christ through hisApostles, not Moses. Christ isthe end of the Law (see John1:17, Rom. 10:1-5). Now let usby scripture disprove Easter #2.

EASTER: “Bill Petro, yourfriendly neighborhood historianwww.billpetro.com/holidayhisto-ry”

“The most joyous of Christianfestivals, and one of the firstcelebrated by the Christians, commemorates the resurrectionof Jesus Christ, on the firstSunday after the full moon fol-lowing the vernal equinox. TheEnglish word “Easter” corre-sponding to the German “Oster”,reveals the association of manyEaster customs with those ofthe Teutonic tribes of centralEurope. When Christianityreached these people it incorpo-rated many of their heathenrites into the great Christianfeast day. Easter month, corre-sponding to our April, was dedi-cated to Eostre, or Ostara, goddess of the spring. Therewas in common the time ofspring and the triumph of lifeover death. The practice of eat-ing eggs on Easter Sunday andgiving them as gifts to friendsand children probably arose

because, in the earlier days ofthe church, eggs were forbiddenfood during Lent (the 40 daysbefore Easter) and were there-fore always eaten on EasterSunday. But the custom of col-oring eggs goes back to theancient Egyptians andPersians, who practiced thiscustom during their spring festi-val.

The Easter hare, or bunny, comes from antiquity as well. The hare is associated with themoon in the legends of ancientEgypt. It belongs to the nightwhen it comes out to feed. It isborn with its eyes opened and, like the moon, is “the open-eyedwatcher of the skies”. Throughthe fact that the Egyptian wordfor hare, “un”, means also“open” and “period”, the harebecame associated with the ideaof periodicity, both lunar andhuman, and so became a symbolof fertility and of the renewal oflife. As such, the hare becamelinked with the Easter, orpaschal, eggs. In the U.S. theEaster rabbit is fabled to laythe eggs in the nests preparedfor it or to hide them for thechildren to find.

Although Easter was celebratedvery early in the church, its datewas not established until A.D.325 when Constantine convenedthe council at Nicea, where itwas decided that it should beobserved on the first Sundayafter the full moon following thevernal equinox, to be fixed eachyear at Alexandria, then the cen-ter of astronomical science. Thedate is an approximation, andmay vary. This means that itsdate may vary as much as 35days!” Bill Petro, your friendlyneighborhood historianwww.billpetro.com/holidayhisto-ry

The second Easter has beendisproved simply because, notone scripture was given for theinstructions and dates of obser-vance. Not one of the traditionalobservance given, matched anyof the ones given by God. It isalso stated that “Easter” is aChristian festival, ACCORDINGTO SCRIPTURE this isERROR, which is FALSEDOCTRIE! We must remem-ber “Christian” and“Christianity” are not just words, but are lifestyles! Using theapostle’s doctrine as a reference,as the Church of and by Christhas been commanded to do,Christian and Christianity arethe two MOST misused wordson earth. Christians MUST fol-low Christ through his Apostle’sword (John17:20-23). The truthis, the only Easter/ Passoverauthorized by God was given byGod through Moses, to the chil-dren of Israel “those under theOld Law”. The second one wasgiven to man by man in A.D.325 MUCH too late to be ofGod or Christ for that matter, and it has not one custom or tra-dition given by God, Christ orhis Apostles; thereby it is not ofthe truth. It’s full of customsand traditions of men; men suchas “heathens and Greek goddess-

es”. It also consists of Fables, which are lies; such as egg lay-ing rabbits. Not only does rab-bits lay eggs according to the liethat children are told, but theylay hard-boiled, colored ones. This lie is passed on from gener-ation to generation. Childrenshould be taught the truthbecause the scriptures teach thatall liars will have their part, seeRev.21:8. We all may fall shortand lie at some point in ourlives, but to practice, to observeand to look forward to lying, makes us LIARS.

The scriptures teach that Jesus’resurrection was early on thefirst day of the week, at the endof the Sabbath, OT on EasterSunday or Christian Sabbath.“Mark 16:1 And when thesabbath was past, MaryMagdalene, and Mary the moth-er of James, and Salome, hadbought sweet spices, that theymight come and anoint him. 2And very early in the morningthe first day of the week, theycame unto the sepulchre at therising of the sun.” “Mark 16:9Now when Jesus was risen earlythe first day of the week, heappeared first to MaryMagdalene, out of whom he hadcast seven devils.” (seeMatt.28:1; Luke24:1) ChristianSabbath, according to scriptureis a contradiction, in that accord-ing to the apostles’ doctrine thedisciples, which were calledChristians, came together on thefirst day of the week, “Acts11:26 And when he had foundhim, he brought him untoAntioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assem-bled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And thedisciples were called Christiansfirst in Antioch.” “Acts 20:6And we sailed away fromPhilippi after the days ofunleavened bread, and cameunto them to Troas in five days;where we abode seven days. 7And upon the first day of theweek, when the disciples cametogether to (1)break bread, Paulpreached unto them, ready todepart on the morrow; and con-tinued his speech until mid-night.”….Definition: (1)breakbread 2806 klao-to break usedin the New Testament of thebreaking of bread (communion).

The (1)Sabbath on the otherhand, ended the Passover, whichwas the seventh day of theweek; (Definition: (1)Sabbath4521 sabbaton (sab’-bat-on); ofHebrew origin [7676]; theSabbath (i.e. Shabbath), or dayof weekly repose from secularavocations (also the observanceor institution itself); 1) the sev-enth day of each week whichwas a sacred festival on whichthe Israelites were required toabstain from all work a) theinstitution of the sabbath, thelaw for keeping holy every sev-enth day of the week: KJV—sabbath.) All must believe thetruth to be right with God,please read; “II Th 2:8 Andthen shall that Wicked berevealed, whom the Lord shallconsume with the spirit of hismouth, and shall destroy with

the brightness of his coming: 9Even him, whose coming is afterthe working of Satan with allpower and signs and lying won-ders, 10 And with all deceiv-ableness of unrighteousness inthem that perish; because theyreceived not the love of thetruth, that they might be saved.11 And for this cause God shallsend them strong delusion, thatthey should believe a lie: 12That they all might be damnedwho believed not the truth, buthad (1)pleasure in (2)unright-eousness.”

Definitions: (1)pleasure-2106eudokeo (yoo-dok-eh’-o); 1) itseems good to one, is one’s goodpleasure a) to think it good, tochoose, to determine, to decideb) to do willingly c) to be readyto, to prefer, to choose rather 2)to be well pleased with, to takepleasure in, to be favorablyinclined toward one: KJV—think good, (be well) please (-d),be the good (have, take) pleas-ure, be willing.(2)in unright-eousness-93 adikia (ad-ee-kee’-ah); from 94; (legal) injustice(properly, the quality, by impli-cation, the act); morally, wrong-fulness (of character, life or act)3) a deed violating law and jus-tice, act of unrighteousness:KJV— iniquity, unjust, unright-eousness, wrong.

Now let us set by NewTestament Scriptures the founda-tion of belief. But first let uslook at the only place the word“Easter” is found in the bibleand it’s of Aramaic origin; itwas used to define the feast ofthe Passover. According to Acts12:1-4, these Jews were not ofthe body, the Church thatChrist was building (Col.1:18-20; Matt.16:17-18), because itpleased them that king Herodstretched forth his hand to vexcertain of the Church. The scrip-tures then go on to name thoseof the Church that King Herodvexed, killing James, the brotherof John with the sword, and put-ting Peter in prison. Acts 12:1Now about that time Herod theking stretched forth his hands tovex certain of the church. 2And he killed James the brotherof John with the sword. 3 Andbecause he saw it pleased theJews, he proceeded further totake Peter also. (Then were thedays of unleavened bread.) 4And when he had apprehendedhim, he put him in prison, anddelivered him to four quater-nions of soldiers to keep him;intending after Easter to bringhim forth to the people (KJV)Acts 12:1 Now about that timeHerod the king stretched forthhis hands to vex certain of thechurch. 2 And he killed Jamesthe brother of John with thesword. 3 And because he saw itpleased the Jews, he proceededfurther to take Peter also. (Thenwere the days of unleavenedbread.) 4 And when he hadapprehended him, he put him inprison, and delivered him to fourquaternions of soldiers to keephim; intending after Easter tobring him forth to the people(KJV)

We must remember All FLESHincluding GENERATIONS endsin Christ; we are neither Jew norGreek in Christ, according toscripture we MUST becomeNEW SPIRITUAL creatures,Please read;

Exod 12:14 And this day shallbe unto you for a memorial;and ye shall keep it a feast to theLORD throughout your genera-tions; ye shall keep it a feast byan ordinance for ever.

2 Cor 5:16 Wherefore hence-forth know we no man after theflesh: yea, though we haveknown Christ after the flesh, yetnow henceforth know we him nomore. 17 Therefore if any manbe in Christ, he is a new crea-ture: old things are passed away;behold, all things are becomenew.(KJV)

Gal 3:27 For as many of you ashave been baptized into Christhave put on Christ. 28 There isneither Jew nor Greek, there isneither bond nor free, there isneither male nor female: for yeare all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye be Christ’s, then areye Abraham’s seed, and heirsaccording to the promise.

Eph 2:15 Having abolished inhis flesh the enmity, even thelaw of commandments containedin ordinances; for to make inhimself of twain one new man,so making peace; (KJV)

Eph 4:20 But ye have not solearned Christ; 21 If so be thatye have heard him, and havebeen taught by him, as the truthis in Jesus: 22 That ye put offconcerning the former conversa-tion the old man, which is cor-rupt according to the deceitfullusts; 23 And be renewed in thespirit of your mind; 24 And thatye put on the new man, whichafter God is created in righteous-ness and true holiness. (KJV)

Col 3:10 And have put on thenew man, which is renewed inknowledge after the image ofhim that created him: 11 Wherethere is neither Greek nor Jew,circumcision nor uncircumci-sion, Barbarian, Scythian, bondnor free: but Christ is all, and inall. (KJV)

All must believe on Christthrough the apostle’s word, andafter baptism must continuesteadfastly in the Apostle’s doc-trine. This doctrine is found onlyin New Testament scriptures.Those Jews that believedaccording to Christ were his dis-ciples and those that did not,were not of him, Please read;

John 8:31 Then said Jesus tothose Jews which believed onhim, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make youfree. (KJV)

Acts 2:41 Then they that gladlyreceived his word were baptized:and the same day there wereadded unto them about threethousand souls. 42 And theycontinued stedfastly in the apos-tles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in

prayers. see also verses 36-41

Acts 14:1 And it came to passin Iconium, that they went bothtogether into the synagogue ofthe Jews, and so spake, that agreat multitude both of the Jewsand also of the Greeks believed.2 But the unbelieving Jewsstirred up the Gentiles, and madetheir minds evil affected againstthe brethren.(KJV)

Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesusneither circumcision availethany thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. 16 And asmany as walk according to thisrule, peace be on them, andmercy, and upon the Israel ofGod. (KJV)

We must remember according toscripture, Christians cannot bebelievers and hearers of theword only, but must suffer to bedoers, of the Apostle’s Doctrine,Please read; Matt.16:24:

Acts 14:22 22 Confirmingthe souls of the disciples, andexhorting them to continue inthe faith, and that we MUSTthrough much tribulation enterinto the kingdom of God. (Seealso; John12:25-26; Rom.8:16-18; 1Thes.3:1-8; 2Tim.2:11-12;3:12; 1Pet.4:1-2&18)

Phil 1:29 For unto you it isgiven in the behalf of Christ, notonly to believe on him, but alsoto suffer for his sake; 30 Havingthe same conflict which ye sawin me, and now hear to be inme.(KJV)

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apartall filthiness and superfluity ofnaughtiness, and receive withmeekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.22 But be ye doers of theword, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.(KJV)

James 2:18 Yea, a man maysay, Thou hast faith, and I haveworks: shew me thy faith with-out thy works, and I will shewthee my faith by my works. 19Thou believest that there is oneGod; thou doest well: the devilsalso believe, and tremble. 20But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?(KJV)

The Apostle’s Doctrine as theywere guided by The Holy Spirit, instruct those of Christ, in howthey are to remember him, please read.

1 Cor 10:16 The cup of bless-ing which we bless, is it not thecommunion of the blood ofChrist? The (1)bread which webreak, is it not the communionof the body of Christ? 17 Forwe being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all par-takers of that one bread. (KJV)

1 Cor 11:23 For I have receivedof the Lord that which also Idelivered unto you, That theLord Jesus the same night inwhich he was betrayed took(1)bread: 24 And when he hadgiven thanks, he brake it, andsaid, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this doin remembrance of me. 25

After the same manner also hetook the cup, when he hadsupped, saying, This cup is thenew testament in my blood: thisdo ye, as oft as ye drink it, inremembrance of me. 26 For asoften as ye eat this bread, anddrink this cup, ye do shew theLord’s death till he come.(KJV)

Definition: (1)bread-740 artos(ar’-tos); from 142; bread (asraised) or a loaf: KJV— (shew-)bread, loaf.

We have been looking but, wehave not been able to find in theApostle’s word, Lent, PalmSunday, Good Friday or evenEaster Sunday, which againwould be a CONTRADICTIONand CONFUSION(1 Cor14:33), thereby making themtraditions of men. According toscripture, true followers ofChrist “Christians” cannot,MUST not, be followers of tra-ditions and customs, not author-ized by Christ through hisApostles. Because if we are, then there is a command givenby the apostles, for such ones, please read; II Th 3:3 But theLord is faithful, who shall stab-lish you, and keep you fromevil. 4 And we have confidencein the Lord touching you, that yeboth do and will do the thingswhich we command you. 5And the Lord direct your heartsinto the love of God, and intothe patient waiting for Christ. 6ow we command you, brethren, in the name of ourLord Jesus Christ, that (1)yewithdraw yourselves fromevery brother that (2)walkethdisorderly, and not after the tra-dition which he received of us.

Definitions: (1)ye withdrawyourselves-4724 stello (stel’-lo); probably strengthened fromthe base of 2476; properly, to setfast (“stall”), i.e. (figuratively) torepress (reflexively, abstain fromassociating with): KJV— avoid, withdrawself. (2)walketh 4043peripateo-to walk: b) Hebrewfor, to live 1) to regulate one’slife 2) to conduct oneself 3) topass one’s life

We were able to find Easter“Passover”, not as the Churchobserving it, but the Jews, before being converted to Christ. There is no need for Jews oranyone else to observeEaster/Passover any more.Remember Christ is the end ofthe Law and there is neither Jewnor Greek in Christ Jesus (seeJohn 1:17, Rom.10:1-5). Wemust not frustrate the Grace ofGod, by observing the things ofthe law (seeGal.2:14-21, 3:1-5).We are all one in Christ, if allhear and obey the law of God’sonly begotten Son(seeJames1:22, Rom.3:27,Gal.6:2), to be right with Himaccording to scriptures, pleaseread.

John 1:17 For the law wasgiven by Moses, but grace andtruth came by JesusChrist.(KJV)

Rom 10:1 Brethren, my heart’sdesire and prayer to God forIsrael is, that they might besaved.2 For I bear them record that

they have a zeal of God, but notaccording to knowledge. 3 Forthey being ignorant of God’srighteousness, and going aboutto establish their own righteous-ness, have not submitted them-selves unto the righteousness ofGod. 4 For Christ is the end ofthe law for righteousness toevery one that believeth. 5 ForMoses describeth the righteous-ness which is of the law, Thatthe man which doeth thosethings shall live by them.(KJV)

Gal 2:20 I am crucified withChrist: nevertheless I live; yetnot I, but Christ liveth in me:and the life which I now live inthe flesh I live by the faith of theSon of God, who loved me, andgave himself for me. 21 I do notfrustrate the grace of God: forif righteousness come by thelaw, then Christ is dead invain.(KJV)

Those that has been baptizedinto the one Body which is theone Church by the one LordJesus Christ, must know andbelieve according to scripture, there is only one Holy Fatherand He is not on earth John17:11-13. The belief and obedi-ence of Eph 4:4-5 would makeall have the one Spirit of the oneFaith striving to be followers ofChrist “Christians”, after the oneBaptism.

Eph 4:4 There is one body, andone Spirit, even as ye are calledin one hope of your calling;5 One Lord, one faith, onebaptism,(KJV)

Col 1:18 And he is the head ofthe body, the church: who isthe beginning, the firstborn fromthe dead; that in all things hemight have the preeminence.19For it pleased the Father that inhim should all fulness dwell; 20And, having made peace throughthe blood of his cross, by him toreconcile all things unto himself;by him, I say, whether they bethings in earth, or things inheaven.

John 17:11 And now I am nomore in the world, but these arein the world, and I come tothee. Holy Father, keep throughthine own name those whomthou hast given me, that theymay be one, as we are.(KJV)

1 Tim 2:5 For there is one God,and (1)one mediator betweenGod and men, the man ChristJesus; Definition: (1)onemediator-3316 mesites (mes-ee’-tace);from 3319; a go-between, i.e. (simply) an inter-nunciator, or (by implication) areconciler (intercessor): KJV—mediator.1) one who intervenesbetween two, either in order tomake or restore peace andfriendship, or to form a compact,or for ratifying a covenant 2) amedium of communication, aarbitratorWe hope it is scripturally clearon the One Mediator betweenGod and man. There is no oneelse that man can appeal to as amedium of communication, or tomake or restore peace andfriendship, but Christ, Christ,Christ, Christ, Christ. If there isa mediator, between man andChrist, then that would be two

mediators between God andman. According to God, Christand his Apostles, there is onlyONE MEDIATOR. If anythingelse is taught, it is not of thetruth and is false Doctrine!

Now to answer the question thatwas asked at the start of thisstudy. “Is The Observance ofEaster, by the Church or anyoneelse, authorized by God (the oneand only Holy Father which isin heaven, through Jesus Christ),the one and only mediatorbetween God and man and HisApostles?” The SCRIPTURALanswer is, ABSOLUTELYOT! If anything else is taught,it is not of the truth and is falseDoctrine!

Dear reader, remember the pur-pose of these articles is to seekthe TRUTH according to THEWORD, thereby exposingERROR, which is false doctrine, for the purpose of saving oursouls. We believe this is bestdone by definitions and thePREPONDERANCE OFSCRIPTURES; which is havingsuperior weight, force, impor-tance, or influence of SCRIP-TURE. Again we believe thisallows SCRIPTURE to INTER-PRET SCRIPTURE, therebyallowing a better understandingon that topic. PRECIOUS is Time. Therefore while you have

time, use it to learn and do Gods Commandments

for at the end of life is pay time and your pay will

be according as your work has been. You will find

in 2 Corinthians 5:10 the following: “For we must

all appear before the judgement seat of Christ,

that everyone may recive the things done in his

body according to that he hath done, whether it

be good or evil.” You will find in John 15:14. “Ye

are my friends if ye do whatsoever I command

you.” Solomon said in Proverbs 1:5 “A wise man

will hear and will increase learning, and a man of

understanding will attain unto wise counsel.”

How shall we escape if we neglect to great

Salvation: Hebrew 2:1-3 Salvation is to be worked

One of the treasures of covering

little league sports is you get a

chance to see stars in the mak-

ing. While covering the Tigers

Athletic and Education football

organization annual banquet we

were introduced to Jordan

Lewis. The outstanding 4th

grader at Appleton Elementary

school says his team worked

very hard trying to get to the

Super Bowl. Even though they

didn’t make it he feels they will

in 2014.

One of his better games came

when they played the Mustangs

this year and Lewis will move

up to J V in 2014.

In the classroom at Appleton

Elementary Lewis likes

Language Arts best. He went on

to say he feels he could very

well win The Spelling Bee

Championship in the future.

In closing we enjoyed our little

chat with Jordan and he is on

the right track both in the class-

room and on the field!

Prairie View, Texas-Oh yes there

was a Thrill Upon The Hill as

TSU paid a visit to the Panthers

of P V. With both scratching

their way to the SWAC post sea-

son tournament at Toyota Center

March 11th-15th. It was

Montrael Scott a 6 feet 3 inch

guard junior from Dallas

Madison High School who led

the way with 26 points. The

sharp shooter connected on 4 of

7 attempts from 3 point land and

added two assists, one steal and

5 rebounds. He was also 4 of 5

from the foul line and TSU sim-

ple had no one to stop him.

The flow of the game was hot

and heavy all game long. “We

had lost 3 games in a row and

that’s bad so we had been prac-

ticing very hard and we were

ready for this game” Scott went

on to add they were not going

to lose at home anymore. He

also credited Luis Monks who

hit a big lay-up to give the

Panthers a little breathing room.

“Yes sir Louis didn’t play last

year because of broken ankle but

he is getting back to his form

and he going to really help us

win games”. With his team

counting on him to hit the open

shots in order for them to win.

“Yes sir I was coming off a cou-

ple of poor shooting games but

our coaching staff told me to just

shot the ball and that’s what I

did”.

Not wanting to let his teammates

down Scott was almost guiding

the ball through the hoop and

had and excellent follow through

in his first few shots making 9

of 17 overall.

Having lost to TSU in triple

overtime back in January was

still on Scott’s mind. “ We don’t

lose to TSU because that our

rival and no way we were going

to lose to TSU at home”

Scott and the rest of the

Panthers seems to be very

focused as the game went on

and time and time again they

turned back TSU runs!

COLLEGE BASKETBALL,THE DRIVE FOR MARCH

Did February leave us with any

surprises, no. All it told us was

that UCONN is #1 and every-

body else is playing to get

Nashville and get their shot at

trying to knock them out. Yes,

word is their old Notre Dame

can push them to the edge. And,

that maybe true. Can they beat

the juggernaut. This is a team

that has been playing short

handed all season long.

Sometimes playing with as

many as 7 healthy players.

Depth has carried them this far,

and it will continue to do so,

along with determination, and

tradition. #1 UCONN Lady

Huskies is the GOLD standard

NOW. The way LaTech,

Tennessee, Texas, and USC were

the GOLD standard during the

growth period of women's col-

lege basketball. From the AIAW

days to the acceptance of NCAA

inclusion. Only Tennessee was

able to sustain over a long peri-

od. 8 Championships (TENN),

UCONN is tied, and is vying for

number 9. Can it happen, will it

happen, questions, questions.

Nashville is the end of the road

for four teams out of 64.

While there is a drop off after

the top 25 in women's college

basketball. 68 teams, play-in

games, anything can happen,

and it has. Their just isn't a clear

cut definite stand out, get hot,

dominate Men's team out there

right now. Syracuse #1(25-2)

lost their second game of the

year. Back to back, (BC, DUKE)

in the ACC. San Diego St #6

(23-3) still not sure of them-

selves, recently losing 2 confer-

ence games on the road. Which

leaves Wichita St (29-0) #3,

playing in The Valley.

Conference tournaments start in

less than 2 weeks. Some Mid-

Major (non-BCS schools) could

blow up and there goes a

favorite, a top liner. Conference

tournaments gives each team

another shot at glory. 4 games,

win and move on. Arlington

awaits 4 teams, any team, that

can get 6 wins.

Houston will be hosting two col-

lege basketball tournaments this

year. The Southland (March 12-

16), Merrell Center, Katy, TX.

The SWAC (March 11-15),

Toyota Center, Houston, TX.

LADY COUGARS WERENO MATCH FOR #1

UCONN

Not since the days of the old

SWC has a women's basketball

team (60-55, Texas) #1 come to

Hofheinz. Has there been an

anticipated look at the new stan-

dard in women's college basket-

ball. For the 1500+ in atten-

dance, you got a chance to see

what big girl basketball looks

like up close. Welcome to The

American Athletic Conference.

Can't have long scoring

droughts.(2-3 mins tops)

Defensive lapses are a no-no,

unforced turnovers, huge mis-

takes. Especially against a team

of UCONN's caliper. It is what

they thrive on. You, to make the

mistake. You, to wear down

against game pressure. And it is

only a matter of time when it

happens. And when it does, you

see the first run. Then the sec-

ond usually happens towards the

last 4-5 mins of 1st period. If

nothing more than to give you

something to think about while

in the locker room.

Well after scratching and claw-

ing their way to within 6 points.

(13-19, 9:32,1st hlf), an 18-3 run

by UCONN the rest of the way

was all it took to put everything

in perspective. 40-16 halftime

lead, think about it. Ironically,

neither teams bench scored in

the 1st half. UH could only get

as close as 25(18-43,19:04).

Then it was all UCONN the rest

of the way. 92-41 final and UH

has 2 regular season games left

and the conference tournament.

Hopefully, the UH Women's

Basketball family will take this

whole season in perspective and

emerge better prepared for the

up coming future. Because even

though Louisville(ACC) and

Rutgers(BIG10) are leaving after

this season. UCONN will still be

the train on the track running

over whoever is in their way.

UCONN 2nd hlf: 32pts in paint;

18pts/T/O; 16F/B pts; 12 pts of

bench. UH: 12pts I/Pant; 1pt

T/O; 4pts bench.

Spoke with us about the Tigers

future. “King it’s time we put

involved with our kids educa-

tion”. Walter is the son of

Studewood Cobra President the

legendary Walter Penrice went

on to say he is please with the

way their organization has

grown over the years and the

Cobras are an excellent model to

follow.

high school and went on to

Kansas where he also participat-

ed in the same two sports.

“King you known me for a long

time and all I’m trying to do is
