KS4 Student Guide
Summer
2016

Dear parents, carers and students,
KS4 students are encouraged to participate in the enrichment
programme; however it is not a compulsory expectation, unless
they are required to attend a subject intervention. Students are
actively invited to contribute to the enrichment programme by
becoming involved in leading or supporting staff in the delivery
of activities.
Students who elect to attend an enrichment and students that
are required to attend a subject intervention are expected to
attend the enrichment for the whole term and on the rare
occasions of being absent from their enrichment, students must
present an absence note (written by parent/carer) to the
enrichment teacher prior to the day of enrichment.
The Student Enrichment Option Selection Form must be re-
turned by the deadline, indicated on page 3.
Students will have opportunities to provide feedback and review
activities at the end of each term. To monitor progress in the
development of ‘BRIDGES’ skills, students will use the same ac-
tivity tracking and review sheet throughout an academic year.
Students’ feedback is also encouraged throughout the year and
‘Children who participate in after school programmes can reap a
host of positive benefits in a number of areas: academic, social/
emotional, and health and well-being.’
Little, Wimer, and Weiss, ‘After School Programmes in the 21st Century’, 2008

has existed in many forms over the

thought to be around 100 years old. Mr Wilson started practising Karate
when he was 5 years old and achieved his 2nd Dan black belt at the age of
13. Whilst at secondary school he represented England on many occasions
in different venues all over the United Kingdom. This enrichment activity is
