2.1. Neomutants – Association activity
Contemporary research in the area of Biotechnology has witnessed an enormous growth
in the past few decades in order to keep abreast with the latest developments in the field of
Biotechnology, an extremely high level of understanding and awareness is created for the student
communities by the Department. Further the department also encourages scientist, academicians,
administrators, policy makers and entrepreneurs to enhance the vision of budding
biotechnologists. On focusing on these targets the department has created an association which
runs for the students and by the students for organizing special guest lecture programs and other
technical functions.
2.2. Guest Lectures organized by the department through NeoMutants Association
“There is no wealth like knowledge,
And no poverty like ignorance - Buddha”
Sharing knowledge has helped mankind survive and evolve into the intelligent and
productive species he is today. In the animal kingdom and indeed in business, knowledge sharing
can make the difference between survival and extinction. More than 40 guest lecture programs
have been organized by the department association and twelve programs were organized by
Neomutants in last academic year.

The world is moving so fast these days that the man who says it can’t be done is
generally interrupted by someone doing it. An innovation becomes noble only when it is
recognized by a learned counsel. Holding to that, our faculty members have published research
articles in various peer reviewed journals and filed patents for capitalizing their innovative
outcomes.Around 250 articles have been published in various national and international journals
till date out of which 36 articles have been published in last academic year in various high
impact journals.

5. Other achievements of department
An in-house magazine called “Biozoom” is regularly released by the Department of
Biotechnology every semester in which research articles, general articles, legendary
works, new innovations, interesting facts and figures are compiled and edited by our own
students and staff members. A total of nine issues have been released so far. In this
academic year, Biozoom Volume 7, Issue 1 has been released along with the ISSN No:
2250 0693.
As a reflection of imparting quality education in Biotechnology, our department
underwent for International NBA accreditation – Tier I (Washington Accord
Certification) in the month of March 2014. This will be of highly useful for students to
mobilize globally for placement and higher studies.
CARE Club - "Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I
learn." Benjamin Franklin. Club for academic, research and employability (CARE) club
is a joined venture that has been recently started at the department of biotechnology. It is
a concerted effort of the students and faculty of the department of biotechnology. It is an
innovative approach to learning and sharing of knowledge. The club focuses on creating a
sociable environment in which the process of learning is made most desirable. The
conventional rule of the faculty addressing the students is broken here and instead the
seniors take their role.

8. Final note
“You must be the change, you wish to see in the world. – Mahatma Gandhiji”
Irrefutably, I in reality sense proud that our department has been in the limelight on
different occasions which have also showcased our augmentation and accomplishment on
diversified arena. I also anticipate that the success tempo and intensification of the department
will be in log phase ceaselessly. It is my colossal contentment to thank all the teaching, non-
teaching staff members and the students who contributed their best to give a lift for our
department.
Acknowledgement
I conclude the annual report with my profuse thanks and indebtedness to our honourable
Chairman and beloved Secretary and Principal of KSR College of Technology whose
munificence and generosity have transformed the dreams of many "unsung Miltons" into a
virtual reality. Our gratitude will not be perfect if it is not shared with our Dean, Controller of
Examinations, Directors, faculty members of the department, supporting staff members and
students whose encouragement, contribution and appreciation come a long way in our
achievement. I also thank Mr.M.Karthikeyan, AP/BT, for bringing out this annual report in a
commendable manner.
