Krypton was discovered in 1898 by Sir William Ramsay, Morris W. Travers. After liquid air had been boiled away, Krypton appeared as a residue.
It was a hidden element that was stumbled upon and that’s how the name was decided. It originates Greek word "kryptos" meaning "hidden".

Krypton is represented as Kr on the periodic table, only the best symbol for the almighty Krypton!
