Qui a le mieux travaillé ?

Comme en Formule 1, janvier est le mois des nouveautés dans la Haute Horlogerie. Si les écuries de Formule 1 dévoilent leurs bolides, les manufactures profitent du SIHH (Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie) pour dévoiler leurs nouveaux garde-temps.Evidemment, malgré le titre de cet édito, je me garderai bien de juger et de décerner des trophées. Non, je citerai simplement mes coups de cœur, à travers ce magazine, concernant les manufactures qui ont su nous surprendre.En effet, comment ne pas succomber à l’élégance intemporelle et la maîtrise horlogère chez Vacheron Constantin ou à la recherche de la quintessence d’un mouvement ou des matériaux chez Richard Mille ?Hublot continue sa marche vers le succès avec une collection pré-Bâle qui laisse présager encore beaucoup de surprises… Le travail paie toujours.Mais ma plus grande surprise vient de Genthod. En effet, la manufacture Franck Muller nous a gratifié d’une collection à couper le souffle. Design, mouvement, prix, matériaux, tout a été revu. La manufacture a-t-elle enfin écouté ses détaillants ? Il faut croire que oui car on frôle le sans-faute et personnellement j’en suis très heureux car très attaché à cette marque depuis 22 ans maintenant. Nous reviendrons bien évidemment sur ce changement.En attendant, je vous laisse découvrir ce petit avant-goût de ce qui nous attend cette année. Comme pour chaque numéro post-SIHH, nous survolerons dans les grandes lignes les nouveautés et vous les ferons découvrir plus en détail dans les prochains numéros.

D’ailleurs, votre magazine horloger préféré va changer. A l’aube de ses 15 ans d’existence (et oui, déjà…) vous découvrirez un numéro 71 revu et corrigé tandis que la périodicité passera de bimestrielle à trimestrielle avec quelques surprises !!

Whose work has produced the best results ?

As for Formula 1, January is the month for new appearances in exclusive watchmaking. While Formula 1 teams unveil their cars, watch manufacturers take advantage of the SIHH («Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie») to present their new timepieces.Naturally, despite the title of this Edito, I shall refrain from passing judgment or awarding any trophies. No, in this issue of the magazine, I would simply like to mention models that caught my eye, designed by watchmakers who have succeeded in creating surprises.

For example, how could one not be impressed by the timeless elegance and watchmaking expertise of Vacheron Constantin, or the search for the quintessence of a movement or materials pursued by Richard Mille ?Hublot continues on its path towards success with a pre-Basel collection which foretells of even more surprises… Hard work always pays off.Though my biggest surprise came from Genthod. In fact, the Franck Muller Manufacture has treated us to a breathtaking collection. Design, movement, prices, materials… Everything has been reviewed. Has this watchmaker finally lent an ear to its retailers ? Quite probably, as this collection is close to perfection and I am personally very happy about this as I have been very fond of this brand for the past 22 years. We will, of course, spend more time on this change of direction. In the meantime, I invite you to discover this foretaste of what we can expect this year. As in each post-SIHH issue, we will give an overview of the main features of the new models, then present them in fuller detail in coming issues.

Furthermore, your favourite watch magazine is going to change. At the dawn of its 15th year of existence (yes indeed, already !…), you will discover a N° 71 revised and corrected, with its bimonthly publication becoming quarterly - also with a few surprises !!

Hublot et le Paris Saint-Germain

Dans la continuité de l’accord conclu entre les deux entités, un modèle King Power «Paris Saint-Germain» a été dévoilé à Genève. Céramique noire, couleurs du club et logo sont de mise. A découvrir rapidement chez Kronometry 1999 car c’est une série limitée à 250 exemplaires seulement.

In keeping with the agreement made between the two entities, a King Power «Paris Saint Germain» model was unveiled in Geneva. Black ceramic and the club’s colours and logo take pride of place. To be discovered as soon as possible with Kronometry 1999, as this is a limited series of only 250 pieces.

Foire de Bâle

La grande messe de l’horlogerie ouvrira ses portes cette année du 27 mars jusqu’au 3 avril. Les manufactures devraient encore déborder d’ingéniosité pour leurs stands et bien sûr pour leurs collections. Cette date avancée par rapport à l’année dernière (fi n avril) nous permettra de recevoir les nouveautés plus tôt.

Basel watch fair

The high mass celebrated by the watchmaking industry will be held this year from March 27th to April 3rd. Manufacturers can be expected to lavish real ingenuity on their stands and, of course, their collections. Thanks to this earlier date as compared to last year (end of April), we will receive the new models earlier than usual.

NIKKI Beach – Hublot – Kronometry 1999

Cette année encore, Hublot et Kronometry 1999 s’installeront sur la plage du NIKKI Beach pendant le festival de Cannes (emplacement plage du Carlton) et bien sûr à Saint Tropez. Evenement Depeche Mode

Le groupe mythique Depeche Mode et Hublot ont reconduit cette année encore leur collaboration pour soutenir l’association Charity for Water qui lutte pour l’accès à l’eau dans le monde.Une nouvelle édition limitée de la montre Hublot Depeche Mode a été dévoilée. La céramique noire a laissé sa place à l’acier pour ce modèle Big Bang Aerobang au look très rock’n’roll.Les dix premiers exemplaires seront vendus lors d’une opération très spéciale qui se déroulera dans dix boutiques Hublot différentes. Pour chaque événement, un des dix modèles sera remis à un heureux acquéreur dans un coffret spécial avec une guitare dédicacée par tous les membres du groupe Depeche Mode et en présence de l’un d’eux.Walter Ronchetti n’a pas hésité à se porter acquéreur du modèle de la boutique de Paris en compagnie de Martin Gore.

Depeche Mode event

This year again, Hublot and the legendary band Depeche Mode are pursuing their collaboration in support of the «Charity for Water» association which fi ghts for access to water all over the world.A new limited edition of the Hublot Depeche Mode watch has been unveiled. Stainless steel has replaced black ceramic for this Big Bang Aerobang model with a very rock’n roll look.The fi rst ten pieces will be sold during a very special operation to be run in ten different Hublot boutiques. For each event, one of the ten models will be handed over to the lucky purchaser in a special case with a guitar bearing a dedication signed by all the members of the Depeche Mode band, and in the presence of one of them. Walter Ronchetti lost no time in acquiring the model for the Paris boutique, in company with Martin Gore.

Le succès du modèle Classic Fusion Tourbillon ne se dément pas. Toutes les versions, titane, céramique, or rose, squelette ou pas ont trouvé leur public.Il manquait une version de « soirée ». C’est chose faite avec cette série limité «Black Night». Comme son nom l’indique, le noir est de mise grâce à la céramique du boîtier et le cuir verni du bracelet. Mais la grande nouveauté est sur le cadran noir satiné serti de diamants baguette. Une première pour Hublot mais «le coup» est réussi. Cette association donne un look résolument «Tuxedo» à ce tourbillon. A vos smokings !Mouvement mécanique à remontage manuel. Fonction tourbillon. Réserve de marche de 120h. Tourbillon Classic Fusion Black Night

The Classic Fusion Tourbillon model is an on-going succes. Its different versions in titanium, ceramic, rose gold, or skeletonized, have all found their admirers.An «evening» version was missing. No sooner said than done, with this «Black Night» limited series. As its name suggests, black takes pride of place for the ceramic case and shiny leather strap. The main novelty is to be found, however, on the black satin-fi nish dial set with baguette diamonds. A fi rst for Hublot, and a very successful achievement. This association of materials gives the tourbillon a decidedly «tuxedo» look. Time to smarten up !Handwound mechanical movement. Tourbillon function. 120-hour power reserve. Water-resistant. Classic Fusion Black Shiny

Fort du succès des Big Bang 41mm Black Shiny,

Hublot adapte cette vision originale de la montre

féminine à la collection Classic Fusion. C’est le

modèle 38 mm qui a été retenu pour représenter

une version simplifi ée de ce concept. En effet,

le boîtier et le cadran ne sont ici pas sertis de

diamants noirs comme sur le chronographe.

Cela aurait surchargé la montre qui n’a pas le

même caractère sportif. La céramique noire

traitée «shiny» a été retenue et le cadran, d’un

noir profond, est serti de 11 pierres de même

couleur que la lunette.

Quatre versions sont proposées : une blanche

sertie de diamants, une bleue sertie de saphirs

bleus, une violette sertie d’améthystes et une

verte sertie de tsavorites.

Un bracelet en veau verni noir vient habiller ce

garde-temps qui ravira une clientèle féminine

soucieuse de se démarquer.

Mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique.

Fonction date à 3h. Etanche.

Classic Fusion Black Shiny

Building on the success of the Big Bang

41-mm Black Shiny, Hublot has applied this

original vision of a ladies’ watch to its Classic

Fusion collection. The 38-mm model has been

chosen to embody a simplifi ed version of the

concept. Here, in fact, neither the case nor

the dial have been set with black diamonds as

on the chronograph. It would have overloaded

the watch, which does not have the same

sporty character. Black ceramic with a «shiny»

treatment has been used instead, with an

intense black dial set with 11 stones in the

same colours as the bezel.

Four versions are proposed: white set with

diamonds, blue set with blue sapphires, violet

set with amethysts and green with tsavorites.

A shiny black calf-skin strap further enhances

this timepiece which will enchant all women

looking for a touch of distinction.

Fort de son partenariat avec Ferrari et son équipe de F1, la manufacture Hublot nous dévoile les versions 2014 de la désormais célèbre Big Bang Ferrari 45 mm. Toujours pourvue de trois modèles, cette collection se compose d’une version titane avec lunette carbone et glace saphir teintée en rouge, d’une version céramique noire avec lunette carbone, index et coutures jaunes et enfi n d’une version or rose avec lunette or rose équipée d’un bracelet qui reprend le célèbre cuir fauve Ferrari. Big Bang Ferrari

Pursuing its partnership with Ferrari and its F1 team, Hublot has revealed the 2014 versions of the now famous Big Bang Ferrari 45mm. Again proposing three models, this collection is comprised of a titanium version with a carbon bezel and red-tinted sapphire crystal, a black ceramic version with carbon bezel, hour marker and yellow stitching, and fi nally a version with a rose gold bezel and a strap made of the famous Ferrari rubber and leather. Big Bang Dark Jeans Ceramic

La collection Jean de 2013 avait pris tout le monde à contre-pied. La manufacture Hublot enfonce le clou avec cette version 2014 baptisée Dark Jean ! Nom évocateur quand on regarde la photo. La céramique noire a remplacé l’acier et une nuance foncée du Jean est utilisée. Si la version 2013 se voulait plutôt «trendy», la version 2014 est résolument plus «bad boy».Mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique. Fonction chronographe et date. Big Bang Dark Jeans Ceramic

The 2013 Jean collection took everyone by surprise. And the Manufacture Hublot is striking while the iron is hot with this 2014 version called Dark Jeans ! An evocative name when you examine the photo. Black ceramic has replaced steel, and a darker shade of denim has been used for the strap. If the 2013 version saw itself as rather trendy, this year’s version is clearly more «bad boy».Self-winding mechanical movement. Chronograph function and date. Skylab

Skylab : nom de la première station spatiale de la NASA lancée il y a 40 ans. Il n’en fallait pas plus pour que Romain Jerome saute sur cette occasion pour interpréter l’incarnation horlogère de Skylab et créer un modèle de circonstance. Le mouvement mécanique à remontage mécanique est entièrement squelette et rappelle l’architecture révolutionnaire de la station spatiale. Minimaliste, chaque composant semble fl otter dans l’espace.Le boîtier très épuré lui aussi reprend les codes Romain Jerome comme les 4 griffes qui sertissent la lunette.Trois versions sont disponibles : une en acier, une en acier traité DLC noir et la dernière en acier traité DLC noir et or rose 18k. Chaque version est limitée à 99 exemplaires.

Skylab

Skylab : name of the fi rst NASA space station launched 40 years ago. Romain Jerome needed nothing more than this anniversary to jump at the chance to produce a timekeeping incarnation of Skylab while creating a model to celebrate the occasion. The self-winding mechanical movement is entirely skeletonized and recalls the space station’s revolutionary architecture. Highly minimalist, each component seems to fl oat in space.The very sleek case also adopts iconic Romain Jerome codes such as the 4 paws on the bezel.Three versions are available. One in stainless steel, one in black DLC-coated steel, and the third in black DLC-coated steel and 18-carat rose gold. Each version is limited to 99 pieces.

Patrimony Traditionnelle calibre 2253

Les garde-temps à très haute complication sont rares chez Vacheron Constantin. Ce n’est pas un manque de compétence, bien au contraire. Les maîtres horlogers, perfectionnistes, prennent tout simplement leur temps pour associer, dans un même boîtier, ce qui se fait de mieux techniquement. C’est le cas du calibre 2253 !En effet, le mouvement indiquera les heures, les minutes, les secondes mais aussi un quantième perpétuel, une équation du temps (c’est-à-dire l’écart entre l’heure solaire et l’heure terrestre) et l’indication du lever et du coucher de soleil. Ajoutez une fonction tourbillon à 6h dans une cage très généreuse et surtout, une réserve de marche de 14 jours et vous découvrirez un des mouvements de Haute Horlogerie les plus aboutis du marché. Une maîtrise absolue des maîtres horlogers Vacheron Constantin qui prennent leur temps, mais qui s’en plaindra désormais au vu du résultat ?Boîtier Patrimony en or rose 18k. Mouvement mécanique à remontage manuel.

Patrimony Traditionelle Calibre 2253

High complication timepieces are rare with Vacheron Constantin. This is not due to a lack of skill - quite the contrary. As perfectionists, the master watchmakers quite simply take their time combining the best of technical achievements in a single watchcase. As demonstrated by the Calibre 2253 !In fact, the movement indicates the hours, minutes and seconds, while also proposing a perpetual calendar, equation of time (ie. the difference between solar and terrestrial time) and a sunset/sunrise indication. Add a tourbillon function at 6 o’clock in a very generous cage and, above all, a 14-day power reserve, and you will discover one of the most highly accomplished «haute horlogerie» movements on the market. Total mastery on the part of Vacheron Constantin’s master watchmakers who like to take their time, though no-one is likely to complain when they see the result ! Patrimony case in 18-carat rose gold. Bovet by Pininfarina «Sergio»

Nouveau volet de la Saga Pininfarina chez Bovet. Après les garde-temps à hautes complications comme Ottanta, Ottanta Due et Ottanta Tre ainsi que les chronographes Cambiano, le duo de haute volée nous présente cette année la Sergio.L’idée est née lors de la présentation, en 2013, du concept-car Ferrari «Sergio» par Pininfarina. Paolo Pininfarina a alors décidé de se servir de son association avec Pascal Raffi , propriétaire de Bovet, pour en faire le pendant horloger à sa dernière création automobile. Le résultat tranche avec les précédentes réalisations avec des lignes très tendues et un cadran très épuré disponible en bleu, anthracite, argent et noir. Le mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique affi che la fonction chronographe avec rattrapante et sera produit à seulement 250 exemplaires. Le boîtier en acier, étanche, reprend bien sûr le système Amadeo cher à Bovet.

Bovet by Pininfarina «Sergio»

A new chapter in the Bovet-Pininfarina saga. After timepieces with high complications such as the Ottanta, Ottanta Due and Ottanta Tre, and the Cambiano chronographs, the high-fl ying duo this year presents the Sergio.The idea arose from the presentation of the Ferrari «Sergio» concept car in 2013, designed by Pininfarina. Paolo Pininfarina then decided to benefi t from his association with Bovet’s owner, Pascal Raffi , to create a timepiece to match his latest automobile creation. The result contrasts with earlier achievements, offering sleek lines and a very clean dial available in blue, anthracite, silver and black. With a self-winding mechanical movement with split-second chronograph function, this model will be produced in an edition of only 250 pieces. The water-resistant steel case naturally features the Amadeo system so dear to Bovet.

RM 36-01 Sébastien Loeb

Richard Mille n’en fi nit pas de rattacher l’histoire des ses garde-temps à la course automobile. Certainement parce qu’il est lui-même pilote !Mais pour Richard Mille, il ne s’agit pas d’apposer un logo ou une couleur «racing». Non, chaque garde-temps a une fonction précise. Avec la RM036-01 Sébastien Loeb, Richard Mille ajoute à la fonction tourbillon un capteur capable de mesurer les G encaissés par le pilote ; c’est-à-dire la force exercée sur lui en virage, freinage ou accélération. Le module de mesure se situe au centre de la montre avec un compteur d’indication à midi. De façon très surprenante la première fois, la remise à zéro du compteur G Force se fait en appuyant sur le poussoir situé au centre de la glace saphir. Une première !Boîtier en titane. Lunette en céramique. Mouvement mécanique à remontage mécanique avec fonction tourbillon et G Force rotatif.

In the RM036-01 Sébastien Loeb, the watchmaker has added to the tourbillon function a sensor capable of measuring G-forces experienced by the driver ; in other words, the pressure felt when cornering, braking and accelerating. The sensor module is positioned in the centre of the dial with the indication counter at 12 o’clock. RM 61-01 Yohan Blake

La manufacture Richard Mille a pris l’habitude, pour notre plus grand bonheur, de proposer une version sans complication de chaque modèle Tourbillon dédié à un sportif. Après les tourbillons Bubba Watson et sa version «Baby Watson» ou Nadal et sa version «Baby Nadal», voici la «Baby Blake» dérivée du spectaculaire tourbillon Yohan Blake qui avait marqué les esprits en 2013 avec son boîtier asymétrique réalisé dans un matériau composite translucide. Si la forme reste, les matériaux changent pour cette version «baby» avec une lunette en céramique TZP-N composée à 95% de zirconium, ce qui lui donne une résistance exceptionnelle tandis que les côtés du boîtier sont eux en carbone. Le mouvement mécanique à remontage manuel est squeletté à l’extrême et donne une transparence unique propre à beaucoup de garde-temps Richard Mille. Il offre une réserve de marche de 55 heures. Enfi n, les ponts en forme de griffes reprennent les couleurs de la Jamaïque, couleurs chères à Yohan Blake. Comme pour les précédentes versions «baby», le succès sera incontestablement au rendez-vous pour cette RM61-01.

For our greater enjoyment, Richard Mille has gotten into the habit of proposing a version without complications of each Tourbillon model dedicated to a sports celebrity. After the Bubba Watson tourbillon and its «baby Watson» version, the Nadal with its «baby Nadal» version, here comes the «baby Blake» derived from the spectacular Yohan Blake tourbillon, which made a strong impression in 2013 with its asymmetric case made of a translucent composite material. While the shape is the same, the materials are different for this «baby» version with a TZP-N ceramic bezel comprised 95% of zircon giving it exceptional resistance, and the sides of the case made of carbon. The handwound mechanical movement is as skeletonized as possible, giving the unique transparency characteristic of many Richard Mille timepieces. It offers a 55-hour power reserve. Finally, the claw-shaped bridges adopt the colours of Jamaica so dear to Yohan Blake. As for the earlier «baby» versions, this RM61-01 will no doubt be a huge success.

Even if photos are still very scarce (we will cover that aspect more extensively), we simply had to talk about the new Vanguard collection from Franck Muller. Here, it is not development of an existing model which is proposed, but a brand new family and a brand new case. It is the kind of achievement of which certain watchmakers like Franck Muller are still capable. Initially, this new family will revolve around a model with three hands with the date (photos) and a chronograph, though everything leads us to believe that this new model could also draw on the Manufacture’s vast reserve of movements. The «sandwich»-style case will allow for interesting combinations of materials. Some will in fact be proposed at the launch. We can’t wait !!…

Ce n’est pas l’évolution d’un modèle existant qui est proposé mais une toute nouvelle famille et un tout nouveau boîtier. C’est le genre de tour de force que certaines manufactures comme Franck Muller savent encore réaliser. Dans un premier temps, cette nouvelle famille s’articulera autour d’un modèle trois aiguilles avec date (photos) et d’un chronographe mais tout porte à croire que ce nouveau modèle pourra puiser dans l’immense banque de mouvements de la manufacture. Le boîtier type «sandwich» permettra des combinaisons de matériaux intéressantes. Plusieurs seront d’ailleurs proposées dès le lancement. Vivement demain !!

Ti-Bridge Automatic Dual Winder

Le chemin fut long pour concevoir la nouvelle Ti-Bridge automatique. En effet, un énorme problème se posait aux maîtres horlogers : comment loger un système de remontage automatique dans un boîtier longitudinal qui abrite un mouvement horizontal ? Mettre une seule masse oscillante ne suffi sait pas et en mettre deux nécessitait d’inventer un lien mécanique pour les faire travailler ensemble ! C’est ce dernier point qui a nécessité du temps mais qui a permis de créer un mouvement Corum (calibre CO 207), entièrement conçu, réalisé et surtout breveté par la manufacture Corum. L’idée est venue en regardant le système d’entrainement des anciennes locomotives à vapeur. Si une roue pouvait en entrainer une autre, pourquoi une masse oscillante ne pouvait pas transmettre son énergie à une deuxième disposée «en ligne» ? Le résultat est spectaculaire et montre à quel point les maîtres horlogers de la Chaux-de-Fonds peuvent relever tous les défi s.

Ti-Bridge Automatic Dual Winder

It has taken a long time to design the new Ti-Bridge Automatic. In fact, a huge problem confronted the master watchmakers : how can one house a self-winding system in a longitudinal case containing a horizontal movement ? Using a single oscillating weight would not suffi ce, but using two meant inventing a mechanical link to make them work together ! It was this last point which took so long, but which has led to the creation of a Corum movement (calibre CO 207) entirely designed, produced and, above all, patented by the Manufacture Corum. The idea came from observing the coupling system of old steam locomotives. If one wheel could pull along another, why couldn’t an oscillating weight transmit its energy to a second, positioned «in line» ? The result is spectacular and shows the extent to which the master watchmakers of La Chaux de Fond are capable of responding to such challenges.

La nouvelle version de la Ti-Bridge Tourbillon se pare

d’une boite plus fine, de quoi mettre d’avantage en valeur

le fabuleux mouvement baguette qui, maintenu par des

entretoises, semble comme en apesanteur au centre du

boîtier. Un effet encore accentué par le tourbillon volant :

dépourvu de pont supérieur, il fait mine de léviter au-dessus

du mouvement. Le mouvement, à remontage manuel, utilise

de l’ARCAP pour sa platine et ses ponts. Ce nouvel alliage

de cuivre et de nickel est totalement amagnétique. Quant au

nouveau boîtier, il se pare d’or rose 18k et de titane traité

Ti-Bridge Rose Gold Tourbillon

The new version of the Ti-Bridge Tourbillon is enhanced by a

more slender case, setting off more effectively the fabulous

baguette movement which, held by struts, seems to hang

in a state of weightlessness in the centre of the case. An

effect further accentuated by the flying tourbillon : deprived

of an upper bridge, it seems to be in levitation above the

movement. The handwound movement uses ARCAP for its

plate and and bridges, a new copper and nickel alloy which

is totally amagnetic. The new case is made of 18-carat rose

gold and black DLC-coated titanium on the sides. This new

Ti-Bridge tourbillon has extended the mastery of Corum

watchmakers even further in the design and interpretation

of the baguette movement specific to the brand.

The Manufacture of Le Locle delves once more into the vast heritage bequeathed by its founder. Created in 1969, the Calibre 410 combines the precision of the El Primero chronograph with reading of a triple calendar (day-date-month) in three windows on the dial. A moon phase at 6 o’clock completes these indications.Paying tribute to the past, the master watchmakers have retained the esthetics of the dial in a case which, for its part, adopts the much more modern codes of Zenith’s new timepieces. Offshore Lady

Il manquait un modèle entre la famille Royal Oak Lady et

le chronographe Offshore Lady. C’est chose faite avec cette

montre 100 % nouvelle. L’idée est simple : reprendre le

boîtier Offshore pour y adapter un mouvement deux aiguilles

et date utilisé pour la Royal Oak Lady. Le bracelet, la lunette

et la couronne sont en caoutchouc blanc. Le boîtier propose

deux versions en acier ou en or rose 18k. Seul regret et de

taille : le mouvement, lui, est à quartz.

Offshore Lady

A model was missing between the Royal Oak Lady family and

the Offshore Lady chronograph. No longer the case, thanks to

this brand new watch. The idea is simple : take the Offshore

case and introduce a movement with the two hands and the

date used for the Royal Oak Lady. The strap, bezel and crown

are made of white rubber. The case comes in two versions,

stainless steel and 18-carat rose gold. Our only regret, but a

sizable one : it is fitted with a quartz movement.

Nouvelle Royal Oak Offshore

Difficile de remplacer une icône. Alors autant y aller par petites touches. Toute la collection évolue vers une esthétique plus contemporaine. Les poussoirs et la couronne sont en céramique et de nouvelles couleurs font leurs apparitions sur les cadrans qui eux, ne changent pas. Les version acier, titane ou or rose sont reconduites. Des nouveaux bracelets en caoutchouc aux couleurs assorties aux cadrans font aussi leurs apparitions. Mais la grande nouveauté reste le fond transparent qui laisse enfin apparaître le mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique manufacturé chez Audemars Piguet.Nul doute que cette nouvelle collection fera honneur à ses aînés.

New Royal Oak Offshore

It is hard to replace an icon. The best thing is to do it gradually. The entire collection is thus evolving towards more contemporary esthetics. The push-buttons and crowns are made of ceramic, and new colours are making their appearance on the dials which otherwise remain unchanged. The versions in stainless steel, titanium and rose gold will still be available. New rubber straps in colours matching the dials have also appeared. But the main new feature is the transparent case back which finally reveals the self-winding mechanical movement manufactured by Audemars Piguet.There’s no doubt that this new collection will do honour to its elders.

Après les version 1, 2 et 3 réalisées en acier ou en titane, Hautlence lance la version en or rose 18k et baptisée Destination 4.Les codes stylistiques des versions précédentes sont bien là mais le contraste entre l’or rose et le noir donne un nouveau caractère à ce garde-temps. Le cadran joue de ce contraste avec des chiffres qui semblent fl otter tout comme la grande date et le deuxième fuseau horaire. Celui-ci est d’ailleurs toujours équipé d’une indication jour et nuit sur sa gauche. After versions 1, 2 and 3 made of stainless steel or titanium, Hautlence has launched an 18-carat rose gold version called Destination 4.The design codes of the previous versions are still there, but the contrast between rose gold and black gives this timepiece new-found character. The dial plays on this contrast with numerals which seem to fl oat, just like the large date and second time zone. Which is, in fact, still equipped with a day/night indicator to the left. The rectangular case with squared-off corners and a bevelled crystal proudly embody the DNA of Hautlence collections.

Ce n’est pas une montre mais une œuvre d’art esthétique et horlogère qui pourrait aussi bien se porter côté mouvement tellement ce dernier est abouti. Côté face, les heures se lisent à travers un guichet et les minutes sur un demi-cercle où navigue une aiguille rétrograde. La lune sphérique, chère à la manufacture, se retrouve au centre du cadran, en lieu et place du traditionnel pied d’aiguilles. Une prouesse !Le côté pile n’est pas en reste avec un mouvement spectaculaire dans sa fi nition qui s’admire à travers un fond transparent. Il se découvre et laisse apparaître un double barillet autorégulateur, un balancier circulaire en silicium et or gris, une courbe terminale plate du spiral et du système triple pare-chute d’absorption des chocs. Le boîtier, ultra léger, est en titane poli et est équipé des célèbres cornes mobiles pour le confort du porté. Ce nouveau garde-temps d’exception marquera sans nul doute possible, l’histoire de De Bethune.

It’s not a watch but an esthetically pleasing horological artwork which could just as well be worn back to front, the back of the case is so beautiful. On the front of the watch, the jumping hours are read in a window with a semi-circle traversed by a retrograde minute hand. The spherical moon, so dear to the manufacturer, has taken up position in the centre of the dial, in place and stead of the traditional mounting for the hands. A real feat !The reverse side of the timepiece has certainly not been neglected, with a spectacularly well-fi nished movement to be admired through the transparent case. It reveals a self-regulating twin barrel, a circular balance wheel made of silicon and grey gold, a fl at terminal curve for the spiral and triple shock absorption system. The ultra-light case in mirror-polished titanium features the famous mobile lug attachments ensuring comfort on the wrist. There is no doubt that this exceptional new timepiece will be a milestone in the history of De Bethune.

Diamond Flower en or

Après les versions céramique, le modèle femme le plus vendu chez Perrelet se pare d’or rose 18k. Trois modèles sont proposés. Ils disposent tous d’un boîtier en or rose 18k qui abrite un mouvement mécanique à remontage automatique dit «à double rotor». Si une masse oscillante classique remonte le mouvement à l’arrière (premier rotor), une deuxième masse, située entre les aiguilles et le cadran et en forme de pétales, remonte elle aussi le mouvement (deuxième rotor).Les lignes épurées du boîtier révèlent trois cadrans guillochés différents, un marron, un noir et un argent. Chacun dispose à 5h, 10h et 1h de pétales sertis de diamants du plus bel effet.

Following the ceramic versions, the ladies’ model that sells the most from Perrelet is now beautifully clad in 18-carat rose gold. Three models are proposed, all with an 18-carat rose gold case containing a self-winding mechanical movement with double rotor. A classic oscillating weight winds the movement at the rear (first rotor), while a second weight in the guise of a lotus flower situated between the hands and the dial also serves to wind the mechanism (second rotor).The very pure lines of the watch case set off three different guilloché dials, one brown, one black and the third silvered. They are all very effectively adorned with petals set with diamonds at 1, 5 and 10 o’clock.

Le Polyépoxide

On ne présente plus HYT et ses modèles qui jouent avec la mécanique des fl uides et qui représentent une des plus grandes nouveautés dans le monde horloger ces 20 dernières années.Fort de cette réputation, HYT se devait de poursuivre dans cette recherche d’innovation. C’est donc sur le boîtier que toutes les attentions se sont portées. Après les matériaux traditionnels comme le titane, le bronze ou l’or rose, c’est le Polyépoxide qui a retenu l’attention des horlogers. Les caractéristiques de cette résine sont multiples : sa dureté avec 700 vickers contre 250 pour le titane mais surtout sa légèreté avec une masse volumétrique 4 fois inférieure à celle du titane déjà très léger (1,1 gr/cm3 contre 4,51). Fort de ces qualités mécaniques exceptionnelles, le Polyépoxide présente aussi l’énorme avantage de pouvoir être teinté et/ou mélangé à d’autres matières comme, par exemple, du sable ou des particules d’or. Les combinaisons deviennent donc infi nies et permettent de donner à chaque série une identité propre. Polyepoxide

There’s no longer any need for introductions of HYT and its models playing with hydro-mechanics and thus offering one of the most remarkable inventions in the watchmaking world over the past two decades. On the strength of this reputation, HYT owed it to itself to pursue its quest for innovation, and has thus focused its attention on the watch case. After using traditional materials such as titanium, bronze and rose gold, the watchmakers were drawn to polyepoxide resin which offers a wealth of qualities. Hardness (700 vickers versus 250 for titanium), but above all lightness, with bulk density four times lower than that of titanium, already very light (1.1gr/cm3 versus 4.51). In addition to these exceptional mechanical attributes, polyepoxide also offers a considerable advantage whereby it can be tinted and/or combined with other materials such as sand, for example, or tiny fl akes of gold. Combinations thus become infi nite, making it possible to give each series its own special identity. One could, for instance, imagine a limited «Saint Tropez» series with sand from the famous beaches of Pampelonne ! To be continued…
