Transcript of Krazy Glue's Viral Christmas Tree
It Involved
•A Christmas tree •A few drops of Crazy Glue •200 lb. plus ornaments
NOTE: No fingers were glued together in the hanging of these ornaments
What Can We Learn From Crazy Glue: How a product demo goes viral.
Example: Krazy Glue created the kraziest Christmas tree I’ve ever seen and put it in New York City’s Liberty Plaza.
Why Was This Crazy Christmas Tree Stunt EffecFve? •It received coverage from CNBC, ABC, Adweek and more. •The full story received 185,000 views on YouTube. •A summary video got over 1.3 million views on YouTube.
1.3 million views may seem small, compared to other YouTube videos, but in the context of a super glue company’s product demonstra1on, it’s a high number.
Most importantly when you see only a few drops of Krazy Glue hold up a 1980’s style arcade game, you are not repairing that college alumni mug with any other adhesive.
When a company nails product storytelling, it does several things but two stand out:
1. Entertains — Did you see that tree?! 2. Informs — Krazy Glue can hold up a
full size drum set.
Good storytelling is difficult but powerful.
It’s why Casey Neistat is huge on YouTube and how Shonduras became a Snapchat star.
I certainly don’t have all the answers on how to tell a great story but that’s why krazy examples are important.
If Krazy Glue can make a super glue product demonstra1on go viral…
