The school will be in the great hands of our staff who will all be stepping up and fulfilling various roles. I am of course still contactable in needed. Swimming has commenced and has been a hit! The children have enjoyed learning in the water each day and are showing excellent improvement at the capable and knowledgeable hands of our instructor, Kelly. The weather has been kind to us throughout the week, perfect time for a swim. We also need to thank the wonderful owner of the Krambach Hotel for the loan of their courtesy bus to assist in transporting students to the pool each day. Coupled with some students traveling in teachers’ cars this has enabled swimming scheme to be at no cost to families this year. I have been investigating getting a defibrillator for our school. After numerous discussions and emails with Mr Bromhead’s colleagues, they have recommended that the P&C apply for a grant or we fundraise ourselves. I am hoping that the community might contribute to our endeavours with this as it will benefit us all. Please let me know if there is anyone you may think might be interested in this project. Attached to this newsletter is an invitation to presentation day 2020. Like everything this year, it will operate a little differently. We are able to invite two people per family to the event. This will be under strict Covid guidelines and will require you to RSVP, sign in on the day and social distance from those who are not part of your family. We will ask that you remain seated at the event. More information to follow soon. Have a great week! Toni Johnson

WATER BOTTLES Due to current Department of Education Covid guidelines, our bubblers are still unable to be

used. This means that EVERY child needs their own water bottle. Students not bringing water bottles of late has become problematic. PLEASE ensure

your child has a drink bottle EVERY day!!! They can be refilled throughout the day using our water

dispensers that are in each classroom. Remember that Water Whizzy says not to use single use

plastic bottles and especially DO NOT reuse them!

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Our week 6 PBL lesson was about being ---- Eve Paff was our award recipient for week 6. Congratulations Eve, keep up the great work!

SCHOOL HATS We are still having many students coming to school with no hat. Please ensure your child has a hat every day so they can enjoy their play in the sunshine instead of under the cover as the weather is warming up. This has continued to be a problem. It is far too hot now for students to be outside without a hat. We are also not encouraging the use of ‘spare’ hats. We don’t want to be wasting learning time searching for hats. Please work with us on this and make sure that your child has a hat EVERYDAY! The replacement cost of a hat is only $12. Please let Shirley know if you need one.

In 3-6 Science lessons with Mr Wilkes, the students have been learning about convection. The experiment pictured showed how hot water rises and cold

water sinks.

We are thrilled to share an exemplary piece of writing by a talented year 4 learner, Oska Reid. Wow what an incredible talent he is developing in writing! Thanks for sharing your work Oska!

During Year 2 transition visits to the 3-6 room, students constructed solar ovens using pizza boxes donated by Dominos Taree. They also wrote a procedure describing materials used and the steps involved. The students then used their ovens to cook s’mores. Delicious!

Our new Kindergarten students for 2021 have settled right in at our beautiful school. A group of excited students welcome Mia, Nishi and Summer each orientation. The girls have been enjoying stories, craft, plays and PE activities and making new friends with their classmates. We look forward to next week when they will stay for the whole morning and enjoy lunch with us!
