FUNCTION AND WORKING METHOD OF A FAST FILLING STATION WITH INTEGRATED BOOSTER

In automated compressor operation during idle periods, i.e. during the night, the storage systems are filled. During day time, when a large number of small tanks have to be filling within a short time, compressors are switched over to booster operation. This is effected by simply operating a high pressure valve. The high pressure stage of the multistage high pressure compressor is now directly connected to the storage system and the pre-compressed air from the storage system flows into the small tanks. As soon as there is a pressure balance in the system, the high pressure valve switches over to booster operation and the last compressor stage compresses up to requested final pressure. Operation of the switch-over valve will be carried out by electro-pneumatic remote control.

PRESEC SIGNALLING DEVICE

General Description Compliance with breathing air quality and thus dryness of the air is essential for the safety of the diver or the fire-fighter. However, air quality will only be as good as the maintenance of the filter systems and the timely exchange of cartridges. In all breathing-air Compressors, the useful life of the cartridges is specified as operating hours of the compressor or as the number of the breathing-air bottles to be tilled or as the treatable maximum quantity of air.

However, all specifications are related to a standard ambient air temperature of 200C.

With higher temperatures, the useful life of the filter cartridges is reduced considerably.

E.g., if a filter has a useful life of the cartridge of 25 operating hours at 200C ambient temperature, this will be only half in case of an increase of 100C, that means 14,25 operating hours. The useful life changes depending on the ambient air temperature as set forth in the table below: C F Correction Factor 50 122 0.2 40 104 0.34 30 86 0.57 20 68 1 10 50 1.85 5 41 2.6 0 32 3.8 Since it is nearly impossible to measure these different temperatures and exactly determine the precise useful life or the saturation period of the cartridge. COMP -TRADE has developed an automatic monitoring system of the degree of saturation of the cartridge i.e. the PRESEC SYSTEM. This system is used to automatically check the condition of the cartridge, its approaching of the saturated condition, and in the event of saturation the compressor will be turned off. This helps ensure that only properly dry air may get into the breathing-air bottles. The PRESEC SYSTEMS may be mounted directly on the COMP - TRADE Compressor in the factory, or be mounted on a console and connected at the downstream end of each compressor system.

PRESEC* - FILTERKONTROLLSYSTEME Allgemeine Funktionsbeschreibung: Die Einhaltung der Atemluftqualität und damit der Trockenheit der Luft ist für die Sicherheit des Tauchers oder Feuerwehrmannes von eminenter Wichtigkeit. Die Luftqualität ist aber nur so gut wie die Wartung der Filtersysteme und wie der rechtzeitige Patronenwechsel. Bei allen Atemluftkompressoren sind die Standzeiten der Patronen in Betriebsstunden des Kompressors oder der Anzahl der zu füllenden Atemluftflaschen oder in der maximal aufbereitbaren Luftmenge angegeben. Alle die Angaben beziehen sich jedoch auf eine

Standard- Umgebungstemperatur von 20° C. Bei höheren Temperaturen verkürzen sich die

Standzeiten der Filterpatronen drastisch. Hat z.B. eine Filterpatrone bei 20° C Umgebungstemperatur eine Standzeit von 25 Betriebsstunden, so verkürzt sich diese bei einen Temperaturanstieg von nur 10° C schon auf knapp die Hälfte, nämlich 14,25 Betriebsstunden. (Siehe Tabelle linke Spalte) Da es nahezu unmöglich ist, diese unterschiedlichen Temperaturen zu messen und damit die genaue Standzeit bzw. den Sättigungszeit der Patrone genaue zu bestimmen, bietet. COMP - TRADE eine automatische Überwachung des Sättigungszustandes der Patrone, das PRESEC SYSTEM an Mit Hilfe dieses Systems wird automatisch der Patronenzustand kontrolliert, das Annähern an den Sättigungszustand angezeigt bzw. bei Sättigung der Kompressor abgeschaltet wird. Somit ist gewährleistet, dass immer nur einwandfreie trockene Luft in die Atemluftflaschen gelangt. Die PRESEC SYSTEME Können entweder werksseitig direkt auf dem COMP - TRADE Kompressor aufgebaut, oder aber auf einer Konsole montiert jeder Kompressoranlage nachgeschaltet werden.

In compliance with breathing air quality and thus dryness of the air is essential for the safety of the diver or the fire fighter. However, air quality will only be as good as the maintenance of the filter systems and the timely exchange of cartridges. In all breathing-air Compressors, the useful life of the cartridges is specified as operating hours of the compressor or as the number of the breathing-air bottles to be tilled or as the treatable maximum quantity of air. However, all specifications are related to a standard ambient air temperature of 20°C. With higher temperatures, the useful life of the filter cartridges is reduced considerably. E.g., if a filter has a useful life of the cartridge of 25 operating hours at 20°C ambient temperature, this will be only half in case of an increase of 10°C, that means 14,25 operating hours. The useful life changes depending on the ambient air temperature as set forth in the table below: °C °F Korrekturfaktor 50 122 0,2 40 104 0,34 30 86 0,57 20 68 1 10 50 1,85 5 41 2,6 0 32 3,8 Since it is nearly impossible to measure these different temperatures and exactly determine the precise useful life or the saturation period of the cartridge, the condition of the cartridge is shown by an indicator strip, which changes the colour from blue to brown according the humidity in the Molecular Sieve. Advantage: you can check periodically the condition of the cartridge and can use it until it is completely saturated.

SICHER und GRÜNDLICH

Die Einhaltung der Trockenheit der Luft und damit der Atemluftqualität nach DIN 3188 / EN 12021 ist für die Sicherheit des Tauchers oder Feuerwehrmannes von eminenter Wichtigkeit. Patronen sind für alle gängigen Atemluftkompressoren erhältlich.

HC 1 HUMIDITY CONTROL SYSTEM

Technical description A high-pressure resistant sensor is integrated in the air tube leading from the compressor or storage station to the filling ramp. A control line leads from the sensor casing to the display unit. In addition to the display, visual control is ensured by three LED’s: green LED = filter cartridge okay orange LED = filter cartridge too humid red LED = Switch off compressor NOTE: The system can be used for filling pressures between 10 bar and 300 bar. The highest degree of accuracy with a tolerance of ± 2 mg/m³ is achieved at 20° C and humidity ranging between 10 to 30 mg/m³. After start-up or after filter change, the values displayed may be too high or too low. this is due to the delay in filter action or caused by the low pressure in the system. The amount of adaptation air may thus be as high as 2000 l (~10 l bottle 200 bar). Standards and Filling Authorisation The European EN 12021 regulation stipulates the following with regard to the use of air in breathing apparatuses: The water content of the air supplied by the compressor for filling 200 bar or 300 bar gas cylinders should not exceed 25 mg/m³. The owner of the compressor and the person in charge of filling the bottles are responsible for ensuring that this limit is not exceeded. Bottles may only be filled by persons listed as authorised persons in the compressor check book.

HC 1 FEUCHTEKONTROLLE

Technische Beschreibung Ein hochdruckfester Sensor wird einfach in die Luftleitung zwischen Verdichter und Füllrampe eingebaut. Vom Sensorgehäuse führt eine beliebig lange Steuerleitung zum Anzeigegerät. Am Display des Anzeigegerätes kann sowohl der Betreiber der Füllstation als auch der Anwender der Atemluft während des Füllvorganges den Wassergehalt numerisch in mg/m³ ablesen. Zu Ihrer eigenen Sicherheit und der Ihres Kunden. Die kontinuierliche Überwachung der Feuchte in der Atemluft während des Füllvorganges war bisher nur durch aufwendige elektronische Patronenzustandsmessgeräte möglich, der Austausch dieser Patronen teuer. Zusätzliche optische Kontrolle durch LED-Anzeige. Grünes Licht = Filterpatrone in Ordnung Gelbes Licht = Patronentausch empfohlen Rotes Licht = Patrone muss getauscht werden Die Sicherheit für Ihren Füllvorgang: Das europäische Regelwerk EN 12021sowie die deutsche Norm DIN 3188 schreiben für die Verwendung von Luft in Atemgeräten einen Wassergehalt – Höchstwert von 30 mg/m³ bei 200 bar Geräten bzw. 50 mg/m³ bei 300 bar Geräten vor. Eine externe Überwachungsschaltung mit Fremdspannungsversorgung bis 220 Volt kann über ein eingebautes Relais angeschlossen werden. Durch eine kleine Abänderung der Füllrampe kann auch die Feuchtekontrolle einer angeschlossenen Flasche einfach und digital ablesbar durchgeführt werden.

200 bar Viele Unfälle mit zum Teil schwersten Verletzungen wurden durch unbeabsichtigt geöffnete Füllventile, welche die Füllanschlüsse peitschenartig schleuderten, verursacht. Kipphebel Füllventile, die im Gegensatz zu Drehventilen fast schlagartig die hoch komprimierte Pressluft freigeben, sind deshalb in diesem Zusammenhang besonders gefürchtet. Wir haben das Problem auf sehr einfache, robuste und preiswerte Art gelöst.

200 bar Sicherheits-Füllanschluss Ein aus dem Füllanschluss vorstehender Kolben wird beim Anschließen an die Pressluftflasche nach innen gedrückt und gibt erst nach dem Anschließen die Pressluft frei. Bei nicht montiertem Füllanschluss und geöffnetem Füllventil tritt etwas Pressluft aus. Damit wird angezeigt, dass der Füllschlauch unter Druck steht und vor dem Anschließen erst druck los gemacht werden muss. 300 bar Sicherheits-Füllanschluss Der 300 bar DIN Füllanschluss wurde konstruktiv geändert, sodass auch dieser rückstossfrei bleibt, sofern versehentlich unter Druck geöffnet wird.

300 bar Unintentionally opening a filling valve when the filling hose is not connected to a tank can cause severe injury. The escaping high pressure air flows in large volumes through the filling hose causing it to whip around violently. We have looked at this daily risk problem and found a simple and inexpensive solution. 200 bar (3000 psi) DIN safety filling connector The connector has a small one way valve incorporated which is only opened when the connector is correctly screwed into a tank valve. No air can flow through the connector unless it is properly connected to the tank valve. A small orifice does however allow a small amount of air to flow harmlessly through the connector thus preventing a pressure build up in the filling hose.

Technical description: The newly developed COMP TRADE Air check – unit is an automatic measuring device for air

quality and permits the precise determination of the quantitative contents of CO, CO2, water

vapour and oil in air or other gaseous media. The analysis of air can thus be carried out either from

high pressure cylinders or in a direct way from a compressor.

Basically the COMP TRADE Air check consists of the following components:

1. Humidity Control unit HC 1 for checking the water vapour 2. Regulating and operating automation with pressure reducing system, timer, receiver for test

tubes, adapters and high pressure connection hose. 3. Solid, light metal brief case with locking device housing, all components mentioned under 1

and 2 in a very space saving and practical way. 4. Dräger test tubes for oil, CO and CO ( 10 tubes each )

When the air flow is started, the green LED should light up and the display should show the amount of water vapour in mg/m³. BREATHING AIR COMPRESSOR WITH INTEGRATED BOOSTER FUNCTION 1. WORKING METHOD: In automated compressor operation during idle periods, i.e. during the night, the storage

systems are filled. During day time, when a large number of small tanks have to be

filling within a short time, compressors are switched over to booster operation.

This is effected by simply operating a high pressure valve.

The high pressure stage of the multistage high pressure compressor is now directly

connected to the storage system and the pre-compressed air from the storage system

flows into the small tanks. As soon as there is a pressure balance in the system, the

high pressure valve switches over to booster operation and the last compressor stage

compresses up to requested final pressure.

Operation of the switch-over valve will be carried out by electro-pneumatic remote

control.






2. THE ADVANTAGES OF THESE SYSTEM ARE:

With 60.000 lit air in the storage each filling application can be done in a very

short time.

Filling can be done by overflow first from storage system to aircylinder /

accumulators / shock struts / tyres / emergency air pillows etc.

Compressor in booster operation works in low load, because pressure ratio in the

3rd stage is always small then in compressor-operation.

BA – Bottle filling with high delivery rates independent from ambient air quality.

Only ONE unit with ONE prime mover and ONE standard filter system.

ONE filling ramp only where the small tanks can either be filled from the

compressor directly or from the storage and booster-system.

Switching over from compressor to booster operation within seconds.

LOW PRICES !

The price of a CTP-B-unit is considerably lower than that of a breathing air

compressor with storage system plus a booster or a standard breathing air

compressor with the same filling time capacity.

An additional low pressure filling connection can be mounted to the filling ramp to

supply low pressure airline systems + venting / cooling the protection suits, to

supply air for pneumatic rescue tools, emergency pillows etc..

4. Technical description

3-stage, 3-cylinder aircooled high pressure compressor with interstage coolers and

aftercooler, safety valve after each stage, 2nd stage separator, 3rd stage separator with

final safety valve, purifier for breathing air acc. to DIN 3188, with molecular/active

carbon cartridges and attached pressure maintaining valve with autodrain system,

silencer and trap.

The switch-over from compressor to booster operation is effected by a pneumatic

remote controlled switching unit, activated by a electric button on the filling ramp






5. Main Components:

Comboost block, connected by one V-belt for the electric motor

Pneumatic switch-over set for booster operation.

Filling ramp: with 4 x 225 bar / 3300 PSI

or 4 x 300 bar / 4850 PSI filling valves,

which can be separately vented with lever filling valves,

connection R 5/8 “ outside, protecting covers and central

pressure gauge.

6. Storage System:

consisting of 4 x 50 litre, 330 bar high pressure cylinders complete in a steel frame and

includes condensate drain valves as well as all fittings and shut off valves.

Cylinders are with German and/or Austrian TÜV certifications

The above mentioned system can be mounted very easy in a truck or a trailer

stations.

With these pictures we want to show up, that our product range not only contains the

standard versions but also includes specifically developed parts , which made the

use of the filling station and the breathing air regeneration effective, save , with good

value and in full compliance with national and international breathing air quality

standards. Through our own production of parts and accessories, the development

of additional elements to contribute to the distribution and monitoring of the breathing
