Vikoma has developed the design and use of oleophilic disc technology to provide highly efficient recovery of oils with minimal water pick up.

Vikoma’s Komara range of oleophilic disc skimmers are probably the best known and most widely used skimmers in the world.

The Komara 20 skimer combines a recovery rate up to 20 tonnes per hour dependant on various criteria including oil viscosity, temperature, slick thickness, sea state etc..

The Komara 20 can be used in ports and harbours, shoreline operations and coastal waters, and almost any similar situation where oil needs to be removed from water.

The Komara 20 skimmer has four individual disc banks to create a 360o flow of oil towards the skimmer. It is perfectly suited for recovering a wide range of oils from very light to heavy contaminants with minimal free water pick up.

As a system, the Komara 20 is supplied with a powerful GP10 diesel hydraulic powerpack, transfer pump and necessary hoses and connectors.

The system can recover oil at a rate of up to 22m3/hr, independently witnessed and verified by Lloyd’s assessors. The powerful lobe pump itself is rated at 42m3/hr

The K20 system includes a trolley mounted VikoPump positive displacement lobe pump for portability. The powerful V190 pump can handle even the heaviest oils. The pump can also be used as a separate transfer pump when not connected to the skimmer.
