Do you know what koalas look like?Do you want to hear about a fuzzy animal that climbs trees? That fuzzy animal is a koala. Koalas can have fur that is gray,

brown, or white. They also have big fuzzy ears. They climb trees with their claws. Baby koalas live in pouches on their mommy until they are big enough to climb by themself. They can grow to be two to three feet tall and have no tails. Koalas are awesome, we should go to the zoo to see one.

Where do koalas live?You can see a koala at the zoo, but that is not where they normally live.

Koalas live in various areas along the east coast of Australia. The east coast of Australia is made of three types of rainforests called tropical, subtropical, and broadleaf. Rainforests are wet habitats with very tall trees. Since koalas have claws to climb trees, that is where they live and sleep. Until baby koalas are big enough to climb trees by themselves, they live in pouches on their mommy. Would you like to live in a tree like a koala?

What is a Koalas favorite meal?Koalas don’t climb just for fun, they climb to eat

leaves from trees. Koalas are herbivores which means they eat plants. They are picky plant eaters because they only eat leaves and shoots from the eucalyptus tree. Eucalyptus trees are poisonous to most animals but not to Koalas. When koalas are babies they drink milk from their mother and the mother produces pap for the baby. The babies need the pap so they can get bacteria in their stomachs. This bacteria is what lets them eat eucalyptus leaves when they are older. Koalas only like leaves, but I like to eat more than just plants!

there are tons of other interesting facts to still discover. Koalas are lazy bums, they sleep for 18 to 22 hours a day in their tree. They have curved spines because they sleep for so long. How many fingers and thumbs do you have? Koalas have three fingers and two thumbs on their front paws. Koalas have two toes on their back paws that are fused together which they use to comb their fur. Koalas might look cute, but they make loud grunting noises. Would you want to be a koala so you can sleep all day and comb your hair with your toes?
