Task 2

The following activities help you demonstrate that you understand how legislation and codes of practice relating to equality, diversity and discrimination apply to your own work role, and that you have a level of self-awareness that you use in your interactions with others so that you offer them respect for their beliefs, culture, values and preferences.

Your task is to refl ect on your life history and identify your cultural background, your values, your beliefs and your preferences that may infl uence your approach to following the legislation and codes of practice that apply to someone in your work role. You should then write an account of how these things may affect your working practices and what you do to make sure that your interactions with individuals respect their beliefs, culture, values and preferences. Work through the following sub-tasks to build your refl ective account.

2. What you and others in the organisation will do to challenge discrimination. (This should be actions that will promote change, not simply punish people.)

Suggested evidence may include:

• witness testimony from a colleague who observes your practice
