    These egg cosies are designed to match my range of tea cosies:

    I am a Mole Tea Cosy

    Badger Tea cosy Frog on a Lily Pad Tea Cosy

    Rabbit in the Brambles Tea Cosy

    Harvest Mouse Tea Cosy

    (which are all available as Ravelry downloads)

    You will need:

    - Small amounts of dk to match the tea cosy, or in colours of your choice - 3mm needles - 3mm double pointed needles for icord top

    All the co-ordinating egg cosies are variations of the Basic Egg Cosy pattern.

  • Basic Egg Cosy pattern

    Using 3mm needles and dk yarn, cast on 40 sts. Garter stitch 2 rows Stocking stitch 14 rows Next row (k2, k2tog) to end (30 sts) Stocking stitch 3 rows Next row (k1, k2tog) to end (20 sts) Purl Next row k2tog to end (10 sts) Purl Next row k2tog to end (5 sts) Change 3mm double pointed needles and, on 5 sts, icord 3 rows K2tog, k1, k2tog. On 3 sts icord 2 rows . Next row Slip 1, k2tog, pass slip stitch over Break yarn and thread through remaining stitches. Fasten off. Stitch back seam of egg cosy.

  • Badger Egg Cosy

    Follow Basic Egg Cosy pattern, except Row 3 (first stocking stitch row) Change to black and white yarn. K1 black, k1 white to end of row. Rows 4 6 Continue stripe pattern as set. Use black yarn for the icord top.

  • Harvest Mouse Egg Cosy

    Follow the Basic Egg Cosy pattern, but at Row 3 (first stocking stitch row) K1 brown, K3 cream to end. Continue stripe pattern to top. Knit Icord in brown.

  • Frog on a Lily Pad Egg Cosy

    Follow Basic Egg Cosy pattern until: Row 3 (first stocking stitch row) Join in green yarn K1 blue, k1 green to end Rows 4 6 Continue stripe pattern as set Row 7 k3 blue, k3 green to end Rows 8 10 Continue pattern as set Row 11 14 As rows 3 6 Change to green yarn to end.

  • Rabbit in the Brambles Egg Cosy

    Follow Basic Egg Cosy pattern until: Row 5 Join in grey yarn K1 cranberry, k1 grey to end Row 6 Continue pattern as set. Row 7 8 All cranberry Rows 9 10 As rows 5 6 Knit icord in grey

  • I Am a Mole Egg Cosy

    Follow Basic Egg Cosy pattern until:

    Row 3 K2 white, k2 green Row 4 Continue pattern as set Row 5 k2 green, k2 yellow Row 6 Continue pattern as set Rows 6 7 As rows 3 4. At top of cosy, after first decrease row: K1 green, k1 yellow to end Next row P1 green, p1 white to end

    Knit icord in white.

  • Follow Basic Egg Cosy pattern until: Row 7. Join in brown yarn and, following the chart, continue until the 8 rows have been worked. The green stitches for the blades of grass should be worked in stocking stitch. The brown stitches should be worked in reverse stocking stitch. Continue in brown only to end.

    Using white embroidery thread (3 strands), embroider daisies. Add French knot centres in yellow. I hope you enjoyed making your Egg Cosy, and are pleased with the result! Lindsay Mudd 2010
