Be sure that any Membership Documents (#100) are forwarded to the Supreme Council before June 30 to allow time for processing. Ensure that councils in your district complete their election of officers by June 15 and submit the Report of Officers Chosen for the Term (#185). Encourage each grand knight-elect to hold an organizational meeting early in the summer to ensure that activities and programs begin early in fraternal year. Schedule an Installation of Council Officers in July for the councils in your district. If you are stepping down as district deputy or are being reassigned to another district, be sure to meet with your successor to brief him on the current status of the district. K of C Family Week, August 9 - 16, should be of special importance this year as it falls during the preparation for the 8 th World Meeting of Families to be held in Philadelphia, September 22-27, 2015. Refer to the “Building the Domestic Church – The Family Fully Alive” (#10162) handbook for programming ideas and insight. During this special week, join with your parish community to celebrate the importance of families through a variety of spiritual, educational or community oriented programs and activities focused on children, spouses, grandparents or other extended family. Show the world that families are the backbone of communities and of our Order by sponsoring and advertising your council’s family events throughout the year. FORTNIGHT FOR FREEDOM
The theme of the fourth annual Fortnight for Freedom, from June 21 to July 4, 2015, is “The Freedom toBear Witness.”
During this two-week period of prayer, fasting and advocacy, Catholics are asked by the U.S. Conference ofCatholic Bishops (USCCB) to confront and respond to the many threats to religious liberty our country currentlyfaces.
Council activities could include:- A special memorial Mass and videos for parochial school and CCD students about historical and modern
day Church martyrs- A Eucharistic Procession past important government or civic buildings in the community- Organizing a public lecture series about religious liberty or the history of Catholicism- Hosting a concert featuring religious music or a display of religious art- Sponsoring a panel discussion on important public policy issues concerning religious freedom
