Many thanks to the teachers, students, and parents that helped make this year’s Allen Eagle Run (that ended up getting cancelled due to ice) a huge success despite the weather! Allen ISD staff involved in planning the run attended the Allen Council of PTAs meeting at the end of March and gave over $20,000 in Eagle Run proceeds to our wonderful AISD schools! Checks totaling $10,365 were presented to the PTAs and schools as well as a check for $10,000 to the PTA council to fund student scholarships. There were 2,804 total entries for the race – 1,459 5k Entries; 1,019 Fun Run Entries; and 326 Sleep-In Entries. Norton had 133 entrants and received $332.50 for the PTA and $199.50 for the campus. News from the School Nurse … A Reminder that Immunizations Are Due For 7th Grade Entry There are several immunization requirements for students entering 7th grade:

Tdap (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis)

Varicella, 2nd dose

Meningococcal vaccine (MCV)

Take note that many 6th graders have not had these immunizations, or have had the immunizations and not updated the school records. The school record must be updated before a student can attend the first day of Middle School in August of the upcoming year. Please bring your student’s updated immunization record to the clinic at Norton as soon as your child receives his/her shots. For any questions, please contact Nurse Cindy at 972-396-6918.
