Searching for information often took considerable amounts
of time, without consistent results.
What needs to be done:
Reshaping KM internal Content Management system so that
IDSC employees can retrieve the right information at the
right time.
1- IT Infrastructure Pitfalls
© Noha Abed 2012 IDSC- Egypt
Loss of important knowledge when staff members move to
other jobs in the organization or leave the organization.
What needs to be done:
Using KM tools to retain organizational knowledge
embedded in staff expertise so that it can be available and
known to everyone in the organization.
2- Learning and Expertise Turnover
© Noha Abed 2012 IDSC- Egypt
Insufficient communication and coordination in sharing of
knowledge and experience between IDSC departments.
What needs to be done:
Improving Knowledge sharing tools and mechanisms to
enhance sharing and putting knowledge into practice.
3- Poor Communication and Collaboration
Environment

Duplication and Overlapping in effort between departments.
What needs to be done:
Moving from managing silos to managing systems by
identifying knowledge gaps and areas of duplication and
comparing the results of knowledge inventory analysis with
knowledge needs analysis.

Managing Existing Knowledge and Improving KM Tools
© Noha Abed 2012 IDSC- Egypt
Knowledge Management is a long Journey that
needs Belief , Team Work and Support.
People are the Engine of Knowledge: People
should understand what is KM so they can
support it.
Capturing knowledge about Customers-
Stakeholders, is critical for success so
Understanding customers' needs is essential.
Without KM Efforts Internally and Externally
for Think Tanks there would be no Chance for
Success.
