Once there was a little
Blue square
It was very unhappy, because nobody wanted to play with it.It sighed:„I´d like to be as slim as my brother the rectangle
or as round as my cousin thecircle
That would be funny.
There is nothing special about me.All my sides are equal, how boring.I´d rather like to have such marvellousvertaxes like my sister the triangle
The little square got tired, lay down and fell asleep. It dreamed a wonderful dream. In its dream a wizard occured and said: “ Why are you so sad, little square? Can I help you.“ „Oh please, dont let me be a boring square any longer, please turn me into a funny triangle.“„Why do you want to be a triangle, I change you in a headscarf, then I can make you a present for my dear friend the witch. Maybe that will make her follow my invitation to visit the old mill at the lake. I want to seek there for a hidden treasure. Unfortunately she doesn´t want to join me there, because it`s always so windy In a flash he transformed he litte square into a
headscarf
Then the wizard took a pen and ink and wrote to his friend the witch a letter
He wrote:“ Dear friend, when we´ll have full moon next time I´ll wait for you at the old mill.“The witch said:“ What should that? When we met the last time I caught a terrible cold.“ And she got a handkerchief
After she had cleaned her long nose, she thought about what to wear for the excursion and examined her wardrobe
She found an old tippet
„That´s the right thing. It will keep me warm.“And she looked into the
mirror
She liked herself. And in the evening before the next full moonshe roasted a big
fish
Then she looked out of the window
The moon was full and she left her
house
She went to the lake and took hersailing boat
and sailed towards the wizard.
Here he came. He had a streamlined boat
The witch entered his boat and together they drove towards the mill
Soon they arrived at the old mill and began to search in the darkness.Suddenly the witch stumbled over an old chest
„Look what I found.“ Together they opened the chest and found a precious cup
At the bottom oft the chest there was an old dusty book
and in the book was a marvellousmagic square
„My goodness,“ said the amazed wizard.„Look at these lines and folds. That must be treasure, how mysterious, how interesting.“
Suddenly the litte square woke up.„Am I awake or am I still dreaming. Might it be, that all those things can be folded out of a little square like I am.Then all of that is inside me:the book – the cup – the chest – the mill – the boat – the sailing boat – the house – the fish – the window – the mirror –the tippet – the wardrobe – the handkerchief – the letter . the headscarfand the magic square. Now I´m sure that I will find someone to play with me
And full of pleasure and excitement the litte square turned into a bright red
Hooray!
It´s done!
