I. BACKGROUND

In this highly dynamic globalization era, the academic community

of Chemical Engineering is required to be sensitive to the development of

the National Industry, both in technology mastership and in responsive

action to the issues in the industrial sector. Mastery of applied science is

the right step as a solution to the mastery of science and technology.

Achievement of this goal should be carried out by the various parties to

support and accelerate the development of science and technology.

Therefore, the cooperation of Higher Education, Government, Industry

and Research Institute, that will provide benefits for all parties with a

common goal to make Indonesia as a state industry which is able to

guarantee the welfare of its citizens, is needed.

Universities as the main component are expected to play an active

role as a provider of professional human resources to advance the industry

in Indonesia. In response, Chemical Engineering’s students of Sriwijaya

University will take part in this opportunity through a field trip entitled

Chemical Engineering Industry Tour 2015 (CHEIT 2015). This field trip

expects Chemical Engineering students, as the next generation of future

process engineers, will be able to cooperate with other aspects in industrial

development. The students as the Agent of Change and Social Control

have been doing a lot of reforming efforts in campus life, community, and

country. "The students are also a national asset that in time will pass on the

baton of this nation".

As an applied science, chemical engineering has developed very

rapidly in a variety of industries. However, sometimes there are gaps of

information between industry and universities as a provider of Human

Resources (HR), who implement the future industry. It can be seen from

Chemical Engineering students’ not knowing about the application of

industrial equipments in the field and various principal in mastery of

industrial process technology in Indonesia with the knowledge that is

learned in universities.






Basic knowledge that are needed for students’ professionalism are

knowledge and abilities about process application with computerization in

chemical engineering, the use of operation technology in process control,

and the implantation of the basic knowledge about the application of

computer programs and the operation of chemical industry equipment in

the factory.

Chemical Engineering Industry Tour 2015 (CHEIT 2015) of The

Association of Chemical Engineering Students, Faculty of Engineering,

Sriwijaya University Palembang Campus with the theme "Improving the

Quality of Chemical Engineering Students of Sriwijaya University to

be Innovative and Excellent in the Industry Globalization", is expected

to be one of the solutions in the preparation of the human resources who

are qualified for the industrial world. Thus, it is expected to be able to

produce professional chemical engineering graduates as a driving force

and executive in the industrial world, in particular, and national

development, in general.

II. BASIC IMPLEMENTATION

1. Tri Dharma University are education and teaching, research, and

community service which is a stepping stone for students to seek,

pursue, and develop the knowledge gained in improving the quality

of Human Resources.

2. The General Guidelines for the Association of the Same Level

Students (IUMS) and the series of the students’ scientific

ACTIVITY.

3. Decree of the Deliberations of the IMATEK UNSRI Members about

IMATEK’s work programs.






III. PURPOSES

General Purposes:

1. Increase the professionalism of the Chemical Engineering students

of Sriwijaya University Palembang Campus with the transfer of

information from industries to students.

2. Adding insight and knowledge of chemical engineering’s students

of Sriwijaya University Palembang Campus from knowing the

processes that occur in the manufacture of a product or equipment

used in the company.

3. Increase unity, integrity and a sense of brotherhood among the

students of Chemical Engineering Sriwijaya University and

mutually beneficial interaction between Universities with industry

in developing chemical engineering technology in Indonesia.

Specific Purposes:

A. Industrial Visits

1. Looking at the industrial processes directly and associating it

with the sciences that have been gained in the college.

2. Understanding the techniques of industrial equipment used in a

process.

3. Knowing the application of computer programs and the

operation of the equipment in the chemical industry plants.

B. Dialogue Profession

1. Media of gathering and exchanging some information between the

participants of CHEIT 2015 and the members of the Faculty of

Engineering IMATEK UNSRI Palembang Campus.

2. Discussion media of the future chemical engineering profession in

facing the globalization era of the industrial world.

3. Media of information exchanging between the lecturers as a

manufacturer of the chemical engineers human resources and the

industrial staffs as the needy of the chemical engineers human

resources.






C. Relaxation

1. Establishing an atmosphere of intimacy among the participants of

CHEIT 2015 with the preceptors and the alumnus of the Sriwijaya

University’s chemical engineering.

2. Growing healthy and well-organized lifestyle to produce healthy

and qualified human resources.

IV. THEME OF THE ACTIVITY

The theme of the Chemical Engineering Industry Tour 2015

(CHEIT 2015) is: "Improving the Quality of Chemical Engineering

Students of Sriwijaya University to be Innovative and Excellent in the

Industry Globalization".

Day 1 : Palembang – LCCT – Hatyai (By plane)

06.30 – 08.00 : All the participants gather in SMB II Palembang Airport

09.25 – 11.25 : The plane takes off to Malaysia and arrive in LCCT.

11.25 – 13.00 : Visiting Putra Jaya.

13.00 – 14.00 : Praying and having lunch at restaurant.

14.00 – 16.30 : Going to Genting Highland for Cable car riding.

16.30 – 19.30 : Gathering and going to Hatyai (Thailand) by bus. Praying and

having dinner at restaurant. Spend the night in bus.

December 15th, 2015

Day 2 : Hatyai City Tour

04.30 – 05.30 : Stopping to pray in the mosque on the border region of Thailand.

06.00 – 07.00 : Having breakfast at restaurant on the border region of Thailand

and filling the immigration card.

07.00 – 08.00 : Going to Hatyai City and then going to the hotel.

08.30 – 09.30 : Arriving in the hotel and check in.

10.00 – 17.00 : Having the city tour (going to Nora Plaza, Kue Kering, and the

Statue of Dewi Kwan Im). Having lunch at restaurant and then

going to Songkla beach. After that, back to the hotel.

17.00 – 19.00 : Having dinner in the hotel, after that free time.

Day 3: HATYAI – KUALA LUMPUR

05.00 – 06.00 : Morning cell, check from the hotel, and preparing for the

immigration checking to Malaysia.

06.00 – 08.00 : Arrive in the border region for having breakfast at restaurant,

then going to Kuala Lumpur.

08.00 – 12.30 : Going to Kuala Lumpur by bus.


13.30 – 17.00 : Arrive in Kuala Lumpur. Going to Butik Coklat and Wang River.

17.00 – 18.00 : Gathering and going to hotel.
