NEW BAGHDAD DISTRICT

PREFACE

• New Baghdad is one of the main administrative district in Baghdad city. This districts :

• Kadhimiah

• Adhamiah

• Karrada

• New Baghdad Adhami

Historical PointNew Baghdad was established in1945 as a result

of population growth ,and after that government began-at that time- to look for a suitable land for building this district as a modern city with a large residential houses and wide wooded streets , in addition to shoping and entertainment places.

They planned this district of 4 main and wide

streets , these streets are parallel to each other

and perpendicular to another 4 streets with the same measurements, and then this district began

To develop step by step till now.

Development

We can talking about the development of this

district in several scales like:

1- Transportation. 6-Leisure &green centers.

2-Water. 7-Recycling.

3-Education. 8-Healthcare.

4-Social. 9-Energy.

5-Economy. 10-Employment.

Transportation

• Transport in New Baghdad based

on private transport institutes which

are conduct the actitivities of mini

buses inside the terminals.

• In New Baghdad 4 big terminals

so the people can easly travel inside

city(Baghdad) or to another cities.

Transportation( continue)

• Now The ministry of transportion has provided

fleet of new modern buses as a first step in order

to develop the public transport in Baghdad.

• As a solution to congestion problem will begin

impelementing the Baghdad Metro(39 km)

Water

• Municipality of Baghdad

has completed a big section

of a big Rusafa water project

which will provide the water

for more than 6 million person

in the city(500 liter/person/day)

Education

• There are many schools

that are spread in most

neighborhoods of this

district(145 schools) in

addition to the university

of technology and technological

institute.

Social

• New baghdad caracterized

as a mixture a of religions .

• It’s inhabited by Muslims,

Christians and Sabians.

• It’s contains lots of Mosques

and about (14) churchs and

temples.

Economy

• New baghdad market is very

big market which is meeting

with the needs of this district.

• It’s contains many small

factories such as plumbing

and water tanks factories.

Leisure and green centers

• there is a lot of gardens,parks

, and amusement parks in this

district like ( the army canal

gardens and Palestine street

amusement parks).

Recycling

• Waste is recycled to produced the coal (kind of

carbon) which is used in production of elecetric

energy.

Healthcare• There are many health centers which are services

with low wages(sometimes the medicine is free).

Energy

• Generation of the electric Power is essentially based

on the gass stations and

dams.

• There are studies to use

solar energy because of

high temperatures which

is reach to (57 centigrade)

in summer.

Employment

Government began developing employment

opportunities through:

• Implementation of new service projects.

• Opening new factories .

• Making flexible investment laws.

In every development there is a need for:

• Funds.

• Human energy.

• Time.

In my country we have funds and human

energy but our real challenge is with the time.
