Happy Hedgehogs

Dear Parents, It is hard to believe but October is almost over. This month three more little hedgehogs joined us Mo, Yuray and Adam. They are settling down just fine. As October was pretty warm we spent lots of time out in our garden. We were collecting colourful autumn leaves, fruits such as apples, pears and lots of wal-nuts!!!! The little hedgehogs loved raking the leaves and jumping in it. We used our little fingers to make finger print trees with lovely autumn colours like red, yellow, brown and orange .We halved the apples, looked at them inside and outside and made some apple print using different water colours which the children really enjoyed. One little hedgehog Misa celebrated his second birthday in October. We sang Hap-py Birthday to him and ate a lovely chocolate cake and of course they couldn't have enough of it!!! In this month we will celebrate Halloween of course. Our happy hedgehogs are very excited about wearing their favourite costume on that special day. We start-ed to make some jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treat bags and they are very happily helping the teachers to deco-rate the room as well. On 31st October please bring the chil-dren in by 9am wearing their favour-ite costume. Please bring in everyday clothes as well just in case the chil-dren want to change after the party.

From 10am different classes will

Friendly Frogs

Dear Parents, The Friendly Frogs have taken advantage of the warm weather during October and enjoyed collecting and raking leaves during garden time. The Osage Oranges are an endless fascination for the children who often insist on putting one in their box to take home. The children have reflected on their observations of the change in seasons by making some beautiful Autumnal paintings and collages.

Swimming with Chris on Fridays has proved to be great fun and our frogs are gaining confidence in the water. Ballet, Jiu Jitsu and Motor-skills development in the gym are making sure that everyday at Kindergarden is an active one. The class has been learning about families so it was great timing to discuss the new arrival

of a baby sister: Congratulations to Korina on becoming big sister on the 20th October! Welcome to the world baby Kitty or as Korina proudly announced to the class 'Hello Kitty!'

The Frogs have enjoyed decorating their classroom with pumpkins, bats and ghosts in preparation for Halloween. Needless we are very excited for the Hallow-een party and look forward to visiting the other classrooms "Trick or Treating". All the children are very happy to watch and look after Krimi and Andras our new classroom fish - thank you to Peti's mum for the beautiful aquarium. The weather is forecast to finally get colder so please be sure to bring a warmer jacket and a hat for garden time. Also, please make sure you check there is a spare set of clothes for your child in their box in case of accidents and spillages! Thank you for your support, Happy Halloween! Mary and Bori

Clever Owls

Dear Parents,

Plenty has happened to the Clever Owls during the second months as well.

We have a new member in our class, he joined us from the middle of the months,

welcome to Dani Adamosi. He has already settled in and is feeling happy with his

new friends, like he has always been with us. Now there are nine Owls all together,

after lovely Sari and Elliott left as they moved away, we miss them so much.

September 23 - 27: This week was about "My house, my home". The Owls really

enjoyed making a lovely house out of card board which looks still lovely with all the

painted walls and furniture inside that the kids coloured.

September 30 - October 4: Was about "feelings" through many pictures identify-

ing how others might feel and why. There is a new tradition in the class, if someone

hurts an other even by accident, we have to make them feel better by not just say-

ing sorry but whit a hug a kiss or a little pat. We started " Jolly phonics" with sound

"S" snake and opened up our notebook, which the kids love so much. Also in the

same book we are now doing math lesson, starting with number 1.

The snake is in the grass, The snake is in the grass, ’s-s-s-s-s’ The snake is in the grass!

We had a trial gym class at Vasas sport centre on Monday, which was a success,

the kids really did well at all the exercises.

October 7 -11: The subject of this week was "Like and don't like", making lovely

heart shape necklace out of play dough and painting them pink and red, decorated

with glitter. The Monday mornings from this point start with a ballet lessons, not

going to Vasas any more, so pretty much our schedule is final. We sent a weekly

newsletter about this week, so more detail is available there.

October 14-18: We learned about "Manners" in general, including table manner

etc. Jolly phonics we learned sound "T" tennis. Visiting the Pasaret Horse Riding

club really was a great field trip for the Owls, feeding lots of horses and ponies.

October 21- 22: "Halloween", we spent the week preparing ourselves for the Hal-

loween party, learning songs like

"Knock knock, trick or treat".

Started to make a spider out of

walnut shells. We had our lovely

autumn break too.

Dear Parents, The first two months went by very quickly it would seem. Already we are preparing for Halloween! The Butterflies are super excited, painting leaf ghosts and making many other decorations and eagerly discussing costumes. This month we have focused on our letters - the shapes and sounds of them. The Butterflies have started to work hard on three and four letter words that can be easily sounded out and blended together and also practiced recognising high frequency words. We have also been working on math and most Butterflies have completed their first math sheets this month. In art history and in KUW we have moved on to Mesoamerica focusing on the different local and old cultures and traditions. The River is Flowing is a Native American song that the Butterflies learnt and like to sing.

Our trips this month were mostly to explore our local neighborhood, walking to the local playground and also going up to the little forest with the little cliff where the view was so extra ordinary that all the Butterflies posed for photos.

Then the Butterflies climbed even higher and found a little small playground. Afterwards Andi showed the Butterflies how to make corn bread the way the Native Americans make it, over an open fire! And we had a really fun afternoon around the fire and finally cracking the walnuts

that the Butterflies gathered in September. While walking in the forest the Butterflies learned a little autumn song:

But the best trip by far was to Norma-fa for a picnic. The butterflies were very interested in the little train with which we travelled up which was overseen by children who were not too many years older than them. It was just a few stops through an amazing forest, with beautiful views of the city, then a short uphill climb through the forest to get to the Anna Meadow. At the meadow the

butterflies explored the playground, ran around and climbed trees. On the way down we travelled by bus and cogwheel train. Most of the extracurricular activities have now started. Those that have not are be-ing postponed until there are more children to join them. Ballet has started this month and yoga is back! The Butterflies are eagerly participating in both. Ballet will be with our new teacher Szilvi, she is a very good and works together with Gini. The children enjoyed their lesson with her a lot. As you may have noticed we have started sending homework home with your children. These are for your children to do should you wish them to do them, the homework is not compulsory, but it is extra practise and please note we have chosen the homework excersises specifically for your child, what he/she needs to most practice. Please return homework folders on Tuesdays regardless of how much your child has done. Our first show and tell week of the year was a blast; the children were so enthusiastic that show and tell week will be a monthly event! Our next one is from the 11th-15th of No-vember, please check facebook for more details. Almost everyone has rain clothing now, which means we can now enjoy outdoor time even in wet and muddy weather. Please check their rain gear regularly for mud, as we live by the Hungarian saying: ''Muddy children are

(to the tune of Frere Jaques)

Brown leaves falling, brown leaves

falling,

On the ground, on the ground,

Autumn time is coming,

And the seasons turning,

All around, all around.

are happy children!''. And on that note, we would like to share with you a little secret: most of the Butterflies love garden work! Entire morning playtimes were recently spent raking up large piles of leaves, bagging them and sometimes just having a good time throwing them at each other.

Very happy birthday to Callan and Alicja who both celebrated their birthdays this month, and to Szonja too who also has her

birthday this month but we haven't had her party yet.

We wish you a ghostastic

Halloween!

Dear Parents,

It has been both a busy and an exciting past couple of weeks. Our Grasshoppers

have been quite active getting to know one another and communicating as much as

possible in English. Over the past month all 6 Grasshoppers' English has improved

enormeously and both Andi and Judit are very proud of them!

This week we have been busy preparing "trick or treating" bags for each

Grasshopper as we will be going around "trick or treating" Thursday morning!

Our younger member is no longer with us. He was moved to the Clever Owls group

where he is enjoying every minute and getting to know his new friends, bye Dani,

we wish you a lot of fun in your new class :)

October was a really adventurous month for us! We were blessed with beautiful

sunny weather and lots of colourful leaves on the ground to play with and rake. On

our Trip days we; went with the

Butterflies to the Children's train

station and climbed trees at Nor-

mafa, hiked up to the little forest

behind the kindergarten and we

also visited a nearby playground

and built a huge sandcastle!

Grasshoppers

12

Andi taught both the Grasshoppers and Butterflies about cornbread and had them

help her make one. We ended up baking it outside in our own little fire. It was

really fun for the kids to help Kenneth build the fire by gathering twigs and sticks.

Over the past few weeks we have given homework for the Grasshoppers. They are

really excited about bringing home their work and receiving a stamp for it the day

after.

Our cricle time consists of singing

and improving their knowledge of

the ABC's, Numbers, Colors, Shapes,

Days of the Week and Months of

the Year. If you would like to see

how your child is evolving please

ask Judit for further details.

This week Judit is holding consulting

days so if you haven't made an

appointment yet then please do so.

Have a wonderful week!

Judit and Andi
