KINGSMOOR SCHOOL
NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been another exciting month here at Kingsmoor. Key Stage Two are continuing
to learn about Superheroes (have a look at the website for some of their fantastic
comic strips!) Key Stage One have had The Theatre of Widdershins in to perform ‘The
Princess and the Pea’ as part of their traditional tales topic and reception have been
publishing their own information books about castles!
The children have been very excited to have snow this week, they were very sensible
at break times and thoroughly enjoyed building snowmen and snow castles amongst
other things. Thank you very much to all of our staff who travelled into work on
Friday, braving very difficult conditions to ensure that the children could come to
school. A particular thank you to Mr Mason, our Site Manager who made sure that the
paths were clear and safe before school opened.
I would also like to say a big THANK YOU to our wonderful PTA and all of the children
and families that took part in the Readathon. The amount raised was astounding and
paired with a very generous parent donation, means that we will be able to give our
library some well needed updates.
World Book Day on Thursday was a great success, with children and staff alike
enjoying all of the very creative costumes. Thank you to Mrs Dear for organising the
visit from the author Julia Jarmon. She was an inspirational visitor for the children
who left her talk keen to start writing their own books! Again, thanks to your support
buying her books, we received £60.00 worth of her books for our school library.
With best wishes,
Mrs C. Jenkins
Values
Well done to children and parents who have been sending in Values posters.
Please take a moment to have a look on the website at the entries and to look
at the assemblies with your children. Values are so very important, so it is
really powerful for children to see that we are all talking about the same
Values!
Fun in the snow

Holiday Requests
As a parent you do not have any legal right or entitlement to take your child
out of school in order to go on a family holiday during term time and you
should not expect to have any leave requested to be granted. National
regulations state that headteachers may only grant any leave
of absence during term time if there are exceptional
circumstances.
Please refer to the Central Bed’s policy for further clarification:

Julia Jarman said we are a ‘lovely school with very
switched on children, it has been a pleasure’.
Ideally food in a packed lunch should include something from each of the
four main food groups:
1. Bread, other cereals and potatoes e.g. wholemeal bread, chapatti,
tortilla wrap, rice, pitta, potato salad.
2. Fruit and vegetables e.g. cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, grapes, fruit
chunks, salads.
3. Milk and Dairy, e.g. portion of milk, cheese, drinking or pot yoghurts,
fromage frais, cheese dips with vegetable sticks.
4. Meat, fish or an alternative e.g. a portion of lean meat or fish such as
tuna or chicken, eggs, hummus, beans or lentils.
Fresh drinking water is provided to all children . Drinks from home could be
fruit juice, milk, yoghurt or smoothies.
One fifth of your child’s daily food intake is at lunch time.
If you really want your child to have a healthy lunch why not choose
school dinners? School dinners cost £2.05 per day or FREE if your child
is in Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1
Please remember to call the office if you would like someone else to collect your child from school. For safeguarding reasons we are not able to let your child go with any-one else unless you confirm with the school office in writing or with a telephone call.
Car Park
Safety!
There are up to 280 people moving
in and out of school at the start
and end of the day including pupils,
parents, siblings, child minders and
grandparents. Please keep to the
footpath whilst on school grounds
and avoid allowing your children to
run around in the car park.
