BRIGHTONUNIQUE
BRIGHTON
Brighton is a place with an entirely unique history and
character. It’s a university city, a new media hub, a cultural
centre, an entertainment hotspot and a seaside resort —
all rolled into one.
The city’s distinctive landmarks add to its unique character.
Historic structures such as the Royal Pavilion and Brighton’s
famous Pier stand next to modern additions including the
brand new i360 tower. Brighton has a cityscape unlike any
other in the UK.
BRIGHTONDIVERSE
BRIGHTON Brighton is famous for its liberal nature and diverse local
population. It attracts people of all backgrounds, interests
and nationalities, and in fact is one of the UK’s most international
cities of its size. This is a place that is very proud of its open
attitude to different cultures. You only have to see the diversity
of restaurants and food styles here to know that this is city in
which everyone can belong.
BRIGHTONACADEMIC
BRIGHTON Home to two prestigious universities — the University of
Sussex and University of Brighton — this is a very student-
centred, student-friendly city.
As well as the thousands of current students who live
here, there are many graduates of the universities who
never wanted to leave and so have made the city their
permanent home.
BRIGHTONCREATIVE
BRIGHTON
Brighton is well known as a centre of creative arts.
The annual Arts Festival runs throughout May each
year and features performances and work from artists,
photographers, musicians, dancers and actors from
all over the world.

Brighton has long been a centre for enterprise, with global
companies like American Express and BUPA making the city
their home.
These days the city is best known as a hub for new media
and digital innovation with many exciting companies in the
design, creative and tech industries. (Pictured: offices of

BRIGHTONACTIVE
BRIGHTON
Brighton’s first-rate sports facilities and temperate climate mean that
many people who live there enjoy an active and outdoor-focused lifestyle.
The seafront is always popular for jogging, volleyball or basketball while
the sea itself offers swimming, kite surfing and kayaking. There are
several gyms, swimming pools and tennis courts throughout the city too.
Annual sporting events include the Brighton marathon, the 10k road
race and the London to Brighton bike ride. You can also watch top class
football and cricket here.
BRIGHTONVIBRANT
BRIGHTON Brighton is known for its friendly, welcoming feel. It’s a city
with a national reputation for fun and a great social scene.
There is a lively café and restaurant culture, which is
especially vibrant during the summer when the seaside
bars and cafes are buzzing.
This is also a great city for theatre, comedy and live
music. It’s possible to see everything from world-famous
international acts to local performers in tiny venues.
