Welcome to Kingdom’s Kids, a Mother’s Day Out program at Warrenton United Methodist Church. We seek to provide a safe, Christian atmosphere for the youngest members of our church family and community. We believe that children are God’s greatest gift! Kingdom’s Kids provides special care and learning experiences for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. We strive to help your child build trusting relationships and feel a sense of belonging by connecting to them with love and understanding.
Goals: To help each child feel comfortable, special, and
secure with the adults that care for him/her
To help each child learn to play and share with
other children and to be comfortable in a group
setting
To help each child have positive feelings about
coming to church
To help each child learn age-appropriate skills
To help parents feel comfortable leaving their
child(ren)

Communication We believe in open communication with our parents!
Feel free to call, text, or email me at any time. I
am also available to set up conferences with
parents Sunday—Friday.
Notices, letters, and other paperwork will be sent
home through our attendance book. Please check
the pocket under your name in the attendance each
time you sign in and out.
Check the wall by the sign-in area for notices
about Kingdom’s Kids and other community events
that might be of interest to you.
Communication will also be posted through our
facebook page and through the Remind group
texting application.
Staff: Our staff is comprised of Warrenton United
Methodist Church employees who have been
trained, undergone background-checks, have
participated in a Child Abuse Prevention training,
and are first aid/CPR certified.
14
Health Our children and staff are susceptible to
communicable diseases. For the protection of
your child and the other children, your child will
not be allowed to attend
if (s)he appears to be ill
or presents any of the
following symptoms:
Fever -- currently or
within previous 24
hours,
Vomiting or diarrhea--currently or within
previous 24 hours,
Significant, persistent nasal drainage,
Any symptom of a childhood disease, such as
scarlet fever, lice, scabies, Tuberculosis,
Impetigo, Strep throat, chicken pox, hand
foot and mouth, whooping cough, etc
Any unexplained rash or skin infection,
Pink eye or other eye infection. ·
We do not exclude children with a common cold as research has indicated that some exposure to germs is necessary to build the immune system. However, if your child is miserable, please keep him/her at home where (s)he will be more comfortable.

Kingdom’s Kids is open weekdays from 9:00 –2:00 Hourly options are available for those desiring a shorter day. During the school year we operate on the same schedule as Fauquier County Public Schools, therefore if they close for inclement weather or a scheduled closing, we will be closed
Ages:
We enroll children 6 months through 5 years (K—5th
grade during the summer). We use a family-group
philosophy where children ages 2.5 and older are
assigned to developmentally appropriate groups.
4
Registration Procedure:
1. Medical Release and registration form completed
2. Immunization Record on file
3. Copy of Birth Certificate shown to the director
4. Registration fee ($25.00 per family)
5. First month’s dates chosen
6. First month’s tuition paid
Daily Check In and Out Procedure:
You must sign you child in and out daily in the sign
-in book. It is extremely important that we have
a phone number so that we can reach you in the
event of an emergency!
We realize that separation from mom/dad/
caregiver is often difficult for young children. It
is easiest on you and your child if you do not
linger or return to peek in the classroom. Upset
children will be given extra TLC and are usually
calm after a few hugs or distraction.
13
Potty Learning
Many of the children attending will be potty learning
while in our care. We will introduce the potty here
when your child (1) shows interest in using the potty
(2) can verbalize the need to use the potty (please
let us know the potty words your child uses) and (3)
can go 30 minutes or more between potty sessions.
We will encourage potty usage, but children will
never be forced to sit on the toilet. Children will be
rewarded with praise, and when necessary, a
tangible reward (sticker, M & M, provided by the
parent) for making a potty attempt. However,
children will never be criticized or disciplined for
failure to use the potty.
Health regulations require that children who are
potty learning wear either a pull-up or plastic pants.
Please do not send your child in regular underwear
until (s)he is consistently using the toilet and
accidents are rare both at home and in other public
places. We do expect accidents to happen, so please
send at least 3 full changes of clothes, plastic bags,
and wipes. Also, please communicate with your
child’s teacher regularly about your child’s progress
in potty learning.

Biting Biting is an unpleasant yet common occurrence in
children under the age of 3. We feel it is necessary
to deal with biting on a case-by-case basis, however,
a biting incident will always be dealt with in the
following manner: Immediate care and comfort will
be given to the victim; A reprimand will be directed
at the biter, who will also be separated from the
group until the situation is under control; Both
parents will be notified of the incident. No names
will be disclosed.
Daily Schedule Children 2.5 and older follow a daily schedule. This
keeps the day fun and environment stimulating!
They begin in their classroom for free-play, indoor
games, snack and teacher guided play. This is a great
opportunity to comfort upset children! Next, they
are all encouraged to participate in circle time,
calendar, learning activities, art, music and creative
movement. We go to chapel daily and then outside
(weather permitting). The children enjoy eating a
parent provided lunch with their peers. At 12;30
children have either rest time or quiet activities.
5
General Policies:
We open at 9:00. If you arrive prior to 9:00,
remain with your child until all teachers are ready
to accept children. Plan to arrive a few minutes
prior to your scheduled pick-up time to sign out
and ask questions.
What to pack... bring the following labeled
items, as applicable: Diapers/Pull-ups, wipes, pacifier, crib
sheet & blanket, complete change of clothes, spill-proof cup, water bottle (school-age) and lunch.
Don’t forget to label or we won’t know who the bag
belongs to! Remove all medicines, personal toys, or other safety hazards before leaving the bag.
Dress your child in appropriate clothes and shoes.
We prefer sneakers as the children have difficulty
playing on the playground and other outdoor games
in crocs, sandals, and other fancy shoes.
6
Lunch:
Kingdom’s Kids does not have a kitchen to prepare
food, so each child must pack a lunch. Send child
friendly food in a lunch box/bag with an ice pack.
Pack everything required for the meal, including
labeled spoons, napkins, plates, and a drink.
Unlabeled items will not be returned. We have
microwaves if you want to send food that can be
quickly and easily heated. Please do not send foods
your child has not previously tried. Do not send
items containing candy, or food that requires special
preparation.
11
Behavior Management
The behavior of children will be
managed in a manner that will
protect their self-esteem and will
encourage children’s
independence, creativity and
ability to mature and be nurtured
in the growing knowledge of God’s
love. We are following the
“Positive Discipline” program.
Every attempt will be made to soothe a crying infant or
child. In the event an infant/child cries inconsolably,
the parent will be requested to assist.
Children are expected to follow the directions given by
their caregiver. Most problems are avoided by keeping
children engaged in interesting activities. When
problems do arise, redirection is helpful. Our staff is
trained to channel the child’s inappropriate behavior to
a more appropriate activity. For example, if a child is
pounding the table, an offer of play-doh to pound can
be an alternative. As a last alternative, a time-out
from the activity will be implemented.
For repeated or serious behavior issues, a conference
with the caregivers will be scheduled.

More Details
Drop-off and 2:15 pick-up will take place in the upstairs
hallway. We will gather there for free play and snack.
This is a good time to ask questions, make payments,
etc.
Our day is structured into various stations: outdoor
games, indoor games, learning (twos and preschool only),
experiments/critical thinking (school-age only), music,
creativity. Your child will rotate with their group
through the stations on a set time schedule. Each
station will be led by a Kingdom’s Kids teacher.
Please apply sunblock and bug spray before arriving in
the morning!
As the weather gets chilly, please dress your child in
appropriate clothing. Be sure to label jackets, hats,
mittens, etc. A decision on outside play will be made by
the director each morning based on the weather
conditions.
7
Snack:
Snack will be provided by Kingdom’s Kids daily.
Donations of snacks is appreciated. Favorite
snacks include cereal, muffins, goldfish,
graham crackers, fruit, veggies, cheese,
and Go-gurt. Check carefully to ensure
the snack does not contain peanut
products!
