Mrs. Bunn, 53, has worked for the District Clerk’s Office as a deputy for nearly eight years, and said in a press release that “I have full work- ing knowledge of each, and every duty performed in” the office. Retiring District Clerk Carolyn Parrott has endorsed the candidacy of Mrs. Bunn, who so far has only one op- ponent, former Smith County Sheriff’s Deputy Kathryn J. Wilson. He stood on a traffic island at the intersection of U.S. 271 S. and Hwy. 300 in Gilmer Monday, wearing a Special Forces T-shirt and camo and proudly displaying the Stars and Stripes. He displayed signs saying “Thank a vet. Support our troops. Pray for America.” Wright feels too many people “have forgotten the great nation that we were.” Wright, who works as a painter and remodeler, said that he hopes his display will help others remember that “freedom didn’t come free,” and that there are still American troops in harm’s way overseas. “That’s why I’m here,” he said. Marceal Clark of Gilmer was recently contacted by the Texas Archive of Moving Images (TAMI) telling her they are featur- ing one of her home movies in a curated collection about the JFK assassination. “They asked for my memories of that day, and our visit to Dealey Plaza the day afterward when we filmed the home movie,” she told The Mirror. It will be aired on their website (www.texasarchive.org) this month commemorating the 50th anniversary of the tragedy. Debate date is expected to be this Friday, Nov. 15. (“Come out and wish our team well as they depart,” said Supt. Brian Gray.) UG Lions Football Playoff Information: The UG Lions will face the Waskom Wildcats on Thurs- day, Nov. 14, at Hallsville High School. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. UG is the visiting team, and will be wearing their white uniforms.
