Transcript of KIIT Automotive Society
1. Introduction:
One of the most pressing issues facing industry today is the decline in student employability
coming out of Engineering and technology programs. This decline and its impact threaten the
ability to meet future workforce demands. KIIT Automotive Society is actively addressing this
issue with programs that bring technology and science to life and sow the seeds of endless
possibilities for student of the KIIT University, which will help to inspire the next generation
of innovators.
KIIT Automotive Society (KAS) started on year 2009 in the month of July, to give our student
an active learning platform where they can applied there technical knowledge which they have
accrued through their regular course work. Beside the society also give them an opportunity to
engage themselves in a constructive way in off academic hours and holidays. Students also have
responded overwhelming to this idea and now many of the students of our university are
member of this society. We have also formally registered ourselves under SAEINDIA by
formation of SAEINDIAKIIT Collegiate club KIIT University, Bhubaneswar for Academic year
2011-2012.
2. Innovative Projects:
To encourage out of box thinking among the students they are given a chance to come up with
new project ideas. They are now doing many innovative projects under the society banner some
of them are given below:
Going on Project :
Electric Vehicle (EV) which will be subsequently converted to solar power vehicle.
Students are making an Electric Vehicle which will be used for indoor campus transportation.
KIIT AUTOMOTIVE SOCIETY (KAS) 25 member had decided to make a 3-Wheeler car
which will have the capacity of two people, along with a huge goods carriage capacity.

They have already started fabrication and assembly of a one seated to make EV-vehicle.
B. Hydrogen powered two-wheeler which will be subsequently converted into petrol-hybrid.
KIIT AUTOMOTIVE SOCIETY (KAS) 23 member are try to run TV’s Scooty pep+ on water
(HHO). It is being done in order to test the viability of running an engine on Brown’s gas versus
running an engine on gasoline. Design is feasible to assist the fuel economy of Scooty is
determine and calculated by students. 18 experiments are successfully done... (Electrolysis,
hydrolysis Speed, efficiency Generator etc…)
TECHNICAL DETAILS: -
ENGINE:
Type: 4 stroke single cylinder forced air-cooled

Displacement (cc)89.8
Max. Power: 3.68kw (5 bhp) @ 6500rpm
Torque (Nm):5.8 @ 4000 rpm
DRIVE:
Clutch
Pivoted clutch centrifugally operated

Automatic CVT with torque sensor
ELECTRICALS:
Ignition system
Digital: DC CDI
Headlamp: 12V, 35 / 35 W
Tail Lamp: 12V, 21 / 5 W
Turn signal lamp: 12V, 10 W
Battery: 12V, 5 Ah and 24V, 5Ah
(KAS)Scooty Hydrogen Generator setup Scooty engine Mass production of Hydrogen
Running a vehicle on (HHO) hydrogen is cheaper, more ecologically friendly and is a much more
plentiful resource than fossil fuel (gasoline).
C. Hybrid car (Electric-Hydrogen)
KIIT AUTOMOTIVE SOCIETY (KAS) 26 members are engaged to build a car which run on
electric power as well as on Hydrogen (HHO). According to this hybrid, Hydrogen (HHO)
Brown’s gas versus running an engine on gasoline and Electric Power will be generated. This
electric power is used to run A.C. motor and charge the batteries. Calculation and Experiment is
continuing in progressive path.
Innovation part in this project is the use of Electronic Catalytic Convertor.
Future project:
A. Two motor go carts
B. Flying Car
3. Racing Competitions:
KIIT Automotive Society encouraging (KAS) student members to participate in SAE sponsored
national and international level competitions.
This year, one of (KAS) team had made it to final list of BAJASAEINDIA2012.They have
already started fabrication and assembly of a one seated off road vehicle for the event to be
held in pithampura, Indore during month of February 2012.

Side Impact-Deformation Roll Over-Deformation
Now we have already finalized a team to participate in SUPRA (SAEINDIA). Beside this we are
also planning to enter in to some international competitions in near future.
This competition provides them a good opportunity to test their technical skills in real
professional working environment and helps to improve their all-round personality. These
experiences will definitely help them to be industry ready.
4. Activities under taken:
A. Guest Lectures
