Newsletter – June 2011 Welcome to the KidZone Newsletter What is KidZone? KidZone is the name of the children’s work run by Church in the Peak (Matlock). KidZone’s aim is to help your child grow into and develop a personal relationship with Jesus. KidZone leaders are there to support the work that you are doing with your child and make church an exciting place that your child wants to come to. Smarties Tube Update Last month, we collected in the Smarties Tubes and I’m delighted to say that the kids had raised over £22. This money has been passed to Sarah Smith in Ghana. Sarah regularly has 35+ kids turn up for KidZone and her current record is 42. Since January this year, she has seen at least 90 different children! It is wonderful to be a part of God’s wider family. Sarah says: “I am very thankful for the money that KidZone UK has raised for KidZone Ghana! It's great to be remembered by the children and money to buy different things is always useful. “So I've used the money to buy a new blue football, some card and glue for our craft sessions and will use the remainder to buy some more story books for the Tuesday reading/homework club.” When we next collect the Smarties Tubes in, the children will be given a replacement tube (with the Smarties still in!) to fill up again.

Welcome to the KidZone Newsletter

What is KidZone?

“So I've used the money to buy a new blue football, some card and glue for our craft sessions and will use the remainder to buy

some more story books for the Tuesday reading/homework club.”

When we next collect the Smarties Tubes in, the children will be given a replacement tube (with the Smarties still in!) to fill up again.

End of Year Picnic on 10th July We will be having a KidZone picnic on Sunday 10th July 2011. The picnic will take place towards the end of the meeting and will extend into the tea and coffee time after the service. Kids will need to bring a packed lunch with them. Weather permitting, the plan is to have the picnic on the grassy area between the terrace parking and the main car park. During the picnic, the Year 6 kids who are leaving KidZone will be presented with a youth bible/ book to help them develop in their walk with God as they move into Xplor.

Doug Horley (Dougie Dug Dug) Following his very successful visit to Wirksworth in February, we are hoping to have Doug Horley (also known as Duggie Dug Dug) come to Matlock and do a show for us. We sing loads of Doug’s songs in KidZone and the action song KidZone lead at Easter, Flabbergasted, is one of his. It is guaranteed to be an amazing time and one that KidZone

kids will be welcome to bring their friends to. No date has been set yet as we’re still working out the event details, but watch this space for more details.

The kids of KidZone speak out… We asked the kids to tell us what they think of KidZone… “At KidZone it is really fun. All the leaders help you to enjoy it (and

they do a good job of it) everyone is relaxed and it's a lovely atmosphere. All the crafts and story times are always enjoyable and fun. I really like KidZone.“ (Boy, age 11) “I like going to KidZone, the crafts are really good, the leaders are really kind and enthusiastic. I learn about people in the bible and it helps me understand it better.” (Boy, age 9) [No kids were bribed to get these quotes!]

Congratulations KidZone would like to offer congratulations to Louise and Richard on the safe arrival of Heather Joy Cross on Good Friday, 22nd April. Louise is, understandably, taking a break from KidZone while Heather is little.

Would you like to help us? If you would like to be involved in KidZone, we’d love to hear from you. We would really benefit from having an extra leader / helper. Full training will be given and a CRB check will be required. If you’re interested, please get in touch with Chris or Harriet (details below).
