ConstructionSkills CentreThe Royal Boroughs Construction Skills Centre
in Kidbrooke Village opened in the summer and
has already successfully helped over half of the
local people who have attended courses there
to secure employment.
The Council funded centre is one of four
Skills Centres in the borough and is run in
partnership with Greenwich Community
College.
Cllr Sizwe James, the Councils cabinet member
of Business, Employment and Skills said There
are lots of local jobs available in construction
and growing numbers of apprenticeship
opportunities.
We are working closely with Berkeley Homes
who has recently launched their local
apprenticeship programme, with the first
cohort currently completing pre-employment
training at the Construction Skills Centre.
GLLaB is also recruiting to the next intake of
the councils Highways Improvements Local
Labour Scheme, where successful completers
will have an opportunity to be considered for
placements with J B Riney. Local residents
and contractors are already dropping into
the building to find out what training can be
offered. The centre staff are pleased to answer
all enquiries.
