On Saturday, May 27, 2017, we are proud to present our 11th Annual Coopersburg 5K Run. Again this year, we will have our Liberty Bell Elementary PTA Kids’ Fun Run and Health & Wellness Expo! It is our pleasure to offer these events on such a special day for our community. Kids’ Fun Run will be approximately a 600 meter dash for children ages 2 though 8. The race will begin at the 5k start and end at the Health & Wellness Expo in Coopersburg Village Shopping Center. It will be fun for all! The Health & Wellness Expo will be held at the Coo-persburg Village Shopping Center parking lot with local businesses and hospitals promoting health and wellness for our community. The Expo will be the culmination of the 5k race as well as the prime location of the awards ceremony. Last year’s race attracted over 1000 runners and spectators, who had the opportunity to explore local businesses, sports teams, and health services. What is Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis? (IPF)
Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a rare, incurable lung disease with no known cause or cure. It is characterized by scarring of the lungs which leads to a patient unable to breathe, even at rest. The only hope for survival is a lung transplant.
In the United States, IPF affects between 132,000-200,000 people and approximately 40,000 people succumb to this disease per year (more than breast cancer). Help us, help the IPF community.
