KICS PYP Exhibition 2014
The exhibition gives students the opportunity to demonstrate their learning in the PYP and to take
action as a result of their learning.
Students are required to:
• Select a real life issue or problem• Independently research the issue/problem as part of a group
• Explore multiple perspectives• Action (act on what you have learnt)
• Present their findings

Students Should Demonstrate:
appreciation, commitment, confidence, co-operation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect and tolerance.
Assessment
Students will be assessed on all of these components. Rubrics assess the skills, processes and attitudes.
The end product is assessed but the emphasis is on the process.
Timeline
12th Jan –23rd Jan (2 weeks) Identify a problem/issue
26th Jan – 27th Feb (5 weeks) Research in groups
2nd March –24th April (8 weeks) Exhibition Unit of InquiryConduct Action
6:30pm Thursday 24th April Exhibition Presentation
Please note that students will still have daily language and maths lessons throughout the exhibition. Subject lessons (PE, Arabic, music & art) will also continue as normal.
Role of Parent
Parents also have a role to play in the exhibition.
Here are some ideas of how you can help:
Be Knowledgeable
•Have an understanding of the purpose and requirements of the exhibition.•Help students to access resources—people, places, media and information•Log into your Edmodo parent page.

Create a parent account to help track your child’s progress.
Be an Inquirer
•Ask your child about their exhibition project.•What are they happy with?•What do they need to focus on?•Are they organised?

•How is your child benefiting from this experience?•Reflect on and give feedback about the exhibition. •We value your feedback of the exhibition performance.
Communicators
•Please feel free to ask us any questions about the exhibition.•Read the group blogs to stay informed.•You may email us at any time.
Be a Risk-Taker
•Let your child solve their own problems in their own way. •Allow your child to be responsible for their own learning.•Sign up to be an expert for consultation e.g. ‘refugee consultant’, ‘presentation advice’, ‘arabic translator’ etc.
Be Principled
•Encourage independence.•Expect academic honesty.
Be Open-Minded
•Respect student ownership of the process.•Value the process of learning taking place.

•Celebrate with the students by attending the staging of the exhibition.
