EXERCISE TIME
So clearly I have all of the answers...
WHAT DOES SUCCESS MEAN TO YOU?
EXERCISE TIME
It is hard to have a truly successful business if things aren’t right up top.
We get to choose our attitude - so why not choose the right one?
STEP 2Figure out what bad habits have
snuck into our daily lives - and get rid of them.
Face up to reality.
What we focus our attention on the most is normally what we get the most of. We had better focus wisely.
It is time to get a little uncomfortable - that is when we grow the most.
When you lay down with dogs, you get up
with fleas.
Sometimes we have to let the situation play out - it might end up better than we first thought.
Perhaps this is the perfect time to do some of the things you have been putting off?
Reflecting on what we have, not what we have not, is a good thing.
Beware of hot dogs
The grass is not always greener.
Celebrate much more often and much louder.
EXERCISE TIME
WHERE DO BUSINESSES GO WRONG?
Many different types of businesses have evolved in
recent years...
The “I am too busy to deal with you” business1
The “no, no, no” business2
The “that’s our policy” business3
The “we hate our business so we hate you” business4
The “she’ll be right” business5
The “we’ll get right back to you” business6
The “we just don’t care” business7
The “smart arse” business8
The “how can we make this transaction really, really complicated?” business9
The “we have no idea what we are doing” business10
Of course none of these apply to your business (or mine)
I am sure...

EXERCISE TIME
Let’s talk about some of these in more detail.
1. Be very clear about where you are heading
EXERCISE TIME
2. We need to stand out from the crowd.
3. We need to get muchbetter at communicating.
4. It is all about our customer connection.
Consumers have changed, a lot, in the past ten years.
If we don’t know how to reach them and most importantly how to connect with
them, we are in big trouble.
They are less trusting They are harder to
reach
There is more clutter
They are time deprived
They are overwhelmed with
choice
They get their information from different sources.
Word of mouth, in its various forms, is
HUGE.
Social networks, in all shapes and sizes
are growing.
Communication is changing.
If we don’t know how to reach them, engage them, build a long term relationship with them, look out.
1. Be clear on your beliefs regarding your customers.
2. Review your moments of truth
3. Treat people as individuals.
4. Have “THE TALK”
5. Save time, save money, make it easy.
6. Be prepared to do what others
are not.
7. Communicate to suit the customer
not you.
8. Be unexpected wherever and whenever you can.
5. It’s time to get creative.
We are pretty certain no tortoises got hurt in the making of this photo........but if they did, it was nothing serious.
Creative businesses are becoming more successful - because they keep trying new ideas.1
It’s really hard to be creative when you are exhausted.2
Look at the success stories - what is their common characteristic? 3
Devote time to “being creative” on a weekly basis. 4
Creative people have a thirst for knowledge - they research a lot.5
6. We can’t sit back and wait for business to come to us.
We all need to get out a lot more.
Lets look for new markets (many are right under our noses).
Build a big network.

Just think BP.1
Your customers expect it of you.2
Better to focus on one main cause.3
Tell your customers what you are doing. 4
Create a “make a difference” culture.5

TAKING ACTION
Identify what action you need to take. 1
Be specific about what needs to be done, by whom and by when. 2
Monitor it daily or as a minimum weekly. 3
If you get off track, get back on track.4
If you are serious about taking action, you have to devote your best time and energy to the process.5
