FROM THE

WELCOME

Good afternoon and welcome to Cromer Park, players and supporters from Sydney

United 58 FC.

In what promises to be an enticing clash on the Northern Beaches, both teams will be desperate to make a big statement in the round 21 showdown.

Warren Grieve’s Manly United squad need to bounce back after last weekend’s 5-0 defeat versus a ruthless APIA Leichhardt Tigers outfit at Lambert Park.

Today’s visitors also lost, with Sydney Olympic FC shocking them 2-1.

Mark Rudan’s Reds won’t be short of motivation - they know three points are

essential to keep their season alive given they currently sit in seventh spot.

Dejan Pandurevic is Manly’s player to watch today.

The attacking ace bagged a double recently versus Blacktown City FC, and could prove to be Manly’s x -factor in the final third.

Also look for Travis Oughtred to have a big 90 minutes. The rock solid defender has impressed all season, with his looming battle against Chris Payne worth the price of admission alone.

See you at the game, with kick-off at 3pm.

Go you mighty Manly United FC!

MATCH

FIRST GRADE

Manly United will be hoping to cement their finals place with a win against Sydney

United on Sunday.

Fourth placed Manly sit only three points ahead of seventh placed United 58 and will know the importance of claiming at least a point from the fixture.

A shock 5-0 loss to APIA last round stopped Manly in its tracks after a strong run of form leading up to the match.

They will be determined to bounce back this week and lock down a top five place.

United 58’s season goes on the line this weekend with defeat all but eliminating them from finals contention.

While they have been far from the side which dominated the competition last season, the Reds can on their day push any side in the completion.

With the stakes high, it should be a blockbuster match.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC 5 - Manly United FC 0 at Lambert Park

APIA Leichhardt has fought their way back into PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s Premiership contention after a comprehensive 5-0 win against Manly United FC at Lambert Park on Saturday.

A red card to Manly captain Brendan Cholakian after only ten minutes set the tone for the match and APIA didn’t hold back in turning the screws on their opposition.

The Tigers went on a rampage in the first half with three unanswered goals in 12 minutes courtesy of Sean Symons, Nathan Millgate and Tasuku Sekiya to set up a 3-0 half time lead.

Sekiya struck again in the second half to claim a brace while Dominic Cox also found the back of the net to round out the 5-0 thrashing.

APIA’s victory sets up an exciting final race for the Premiership with Blacktown holding only a one point lead with two rounds to play.

Sydney United 58 FC 1 - Sydney Olympic FC 2 at Sydney United Sports Centre

Yu Kuboki’s late winner has blown the race for the top five wide open after Sydney Olympic edged Sydney United 58 2-1 in an intense PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s affair at Sydney United Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Japanese attacker notched his 11th strike of the campaign with ten minutes remaining to seal a landmark victory for Gorka Etxeberria’s side and propel Olympic into fifth position on the ladder.

Olympic had earlier broke the deadlock through a neat Christopher Gligor header but were pegged back two minutes later when Chris Payne tucked away a Matt Sim cross at the far post.

Kuboki stepped off the bench at half time to spearhead an excellent second half performance from the visitors and eventually swept home the winner in style after a brilliant assist from Olympic defender Mitchell Stamatellis.

The victory gifts Spanish custodian Etxeberria his first win as Olympic boss and snaps a run of three consecutive defeats for the unfancied visitors, who needed all three points on the day to keep their season alive.

FEATURE STORY

VALE

Football NSW is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Australian iconic

legend, ‘Mr Football’, Les Murray today.

Les was one of Australian Football’s finest ambassadors and advocates and his countless hours and relentless efforts promoting football across Australia, from grassroots to the elite, will stand both unequalled and forever admired.

Les’ love for football and his long legacy of contribution towards it will be long live in the memory of everyone not only at Football NSW, but the entire football community across Australia.

Football NSW Chairman Anter Isaac paid tribute to the man that put this sport on the map in Australia.

“To many people, Les was football.

“I, like so many football fans, grew up watching Les on SBS promote football, and especially Australian football, daily.

“And along with his good friend, Johnny Warren, continued to protect Australian football, its clubs, players and coaches, when others simply could not or would not.

“For his courage and unquestioned loyalty to football, we will be indebted, and Les has left us all an incredible benchmark to carry on his work and commitment in the years to come.”

Football NSW would like to pass on its deepest condolences to the Murray family.

Sydney United 58 will look to consolidate their position in the top five when they

travel to Cromer Park to take on Manly United on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds have won four in a row - including back to back 6-1 victories over Parramatta and Sydney Olympic - to revive their finals chances and with a reinforced roster look potential dark horses for the big prize. United 58 will be assured of a spot in the semi-finals should they win their remaining fixtures but will need to avoid a slip up against the reigning champions with a much trickier match against Blacktown City on the horizon.

Opponents Manly have won just one of their last nine matches but will be intent to close a disappointing campaign on a positive note. Attacker Jamie Glover has emerged as a bright spark for the Cromer Park outfit this season and will be aiming to improve his goal tally of 9 in nineteen.
