The School has a tradition of using Mandarin as the medium of instruction for Chinese Language, Chinese History and Putonghua. There are Chinese and English streams in junior forms. For Chinese-medium classes, the medium of instruction is either Mandarin or Cantonese except for English Language. For English-medium classes, the medium of instruction is English except for Chinese-related subjects, Visual Arts, Music and Physical Education. In senior forms, students can choose from a list of elective subjects besides the four core subjects. They are taught either in English or Chinese, according to their language ability. An International Section of our School was established in the school year 2002/2003, and began to enroll Year 7 students. The International Section adopts a British curriculum, small class teaching and provides Mandarin courses to enhance students' overall academic abilities. In the school year 2006/2007, our International Section was granted permission to run International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. Extensive reading is also promoted through junior forms in language lessons, and students need to submit book reviews for progress assessment. In addition, there is also a Reading Awards Scheme to acknowledge students with good performances. The NSS curriculum adopted in the School aims to help students build a broader foundation of knowledge, and to provide a solid basis for whole person development and life-long learning. In addition to the four core subjects, the curriculum also includes 2 to 3 electives with different Key Learning Areas, and other learning experiences. Other learning experiences refer to activities related to arts and sports, moral and civic education, community services and career-related experiences. It is hoped that through acquiring other learning experiences, students can broaden their vision and explore their potentials to be prepared for future careers and to become life-long learners. In order to enrich students' personal experience and enable them to learn from practical experience, the School provides a series of visits, field trips, community services and other life-wide learning activities to let students acquire skills for whole person development and life-long learning. The School has applied to the Quality Education Fund several times for funding to implement different teaching projects since the school year 1999/2000. A total amount of over HK$4.2 million was allocated to carry out 15 improvement projects concerning information technology, enhancing language abilities, unleashing multiple intelligences, and improving teaching quality and administration efficiency.
