Khalil Gibran a Lebanese philosopher , poet, writer and painter, was born on January

6, 1883 in the northern Lebanon.

At the age of 11,he with his family Migrated

to the United states insearch of new opportunities

His fame and influence spreads throughout the

world.

His reflections and poetry have been translated into

over twenty languages and his drawings and paintings

have been exhibited in major world capitals.

•Gibran was an accomplished artisit.

He is chiefly known in the English-speaking world for his 1923 book The Prophet.Gibran is the third best-selling poet of all time, behind Shakespeare and Laozi.

According to his will:

•Gibran’s contents of the studio went to Mary Elizabeth, where she also found her previously written letters.•Realizing the historical value of the letters, she gave them to University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Library.•Nearly one hundred original works of art by Gibran to the Telfair Museum of Art in Savannah, Georgia.•His hometown of Bsharri was willed to•receive the American royalties of his books.

Gibran died in New York City on April 10, 1931: the cause was determined to be cirrhosis of the liver and tuberculosis.

Before his death, Gibran expressed the wish that he be buried in Lebanon. This wish was fulfilled in 1932.
