forgotten that subs for the sports club are now due for

the website www.broughton-kirby.com and click on
contacts and links, and then ‘click here for a membership form’ New
members are very welcome. There is lots of information including

LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY
Towards the end of May and in the beginning of June a number of
members of the Society who live in the village will begin to work on a
social history of the village, recording all the changes that we can as
far back as is possible. We shall be calling on all residents to seek
their help in this project.

This year we are combining our soup lunch with a ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’
to enable those with young children to bring them along – complete
with a favourite teddy – and have some fun. The event is at Kirkby
church hall on Saturday 14th May from 12.00 noon to 2.00 pm
The original idea of our Bread & Soup Lunch is that in exchange for a
donation you will receive a simple meal. This may be more basic than
your usual Saturday lunch but will represent far more in terms of
food and calories than the meals taken by families in the third world.
If you haven’t been before please come along and try our delicious
homemade soup.
You will find a Christian Aid envelope in this newsletter, with a slip
setting out how to return it. Please give generously to this really
worthwhile cause which does so much to redress poverty throughout
the world.
Maria would like to thank very much the congregation of St.
Augustine’s Church for the beautiful silver photograph frame given in
recognition of her 6 years as Church Warden.
John & Val Davies would like to thank everyone who sent get well
wishes, cards and flowers during Val’s recent illness. They were very
much appreciated.
Watercolour Classes
There will be watercolour classes at Gt. Broughton Village Hall with
Bill Campbell-Trotter staring on Monday June 6th, mornings for 3
weeks. Contact Linda 710415
