• Build a “50 page” CV (update it frequently!)
• Produce a generic CV (ideally 1 – 3 pages long)
• Tailor your CV (to any job you want to be considered for)
• Clear, well-structured, well-written, plenty of white space
• Correct spelling, grammar, etc. (ask someone else to check it)
• Bullet points (1 – 2 lines each)
• Use action verbs (e.g. managed, delivered, created, designed, sold, enabled, installed, organised, oversaw, improved, etc.)
• Clear distinction between Responsibility & Achievement
• Highlight achievements (as added value to the organisation) e.g. improved revenue, costs, efficiencies, etc.

• Does it pass the “11.00 pm test”?

• Prepare on 3 levels (Physically, Emotionally, Mentally)
• Research! (i.e. organisation, industry, trends, people, etc.)
• Be Alert, Focussed, & Relaxed (High Intention, Low Attachment)
• Think of it as a conversation (between two professionals)
• Know the content of your “50 page” CV well (to be able to recall and tell good stories)
• S.T.A.R. structure for your stories (practice these!)
• Improve your stories with reference to time, space & people
• Avoid “rambling” answers and be comfortable with silence
