Key Success Factors for Creating New Knowledge for Millennials

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

1. Teaching with passion

Creation of new knowledge in the students through their own transformation.

Carl Rogers: Teachers as facilitators rather than transmitters of information.

Professors with parallel activities can enrich their classes with diverse contributions

2. Connecting with the students

Means to understand the uniqueness in each one of them

The teacher who recognize the motivations opens the door to new knowledge

Vygotsky affirmed that learning is not only a single event but a cultural process

3. Storytelling

A good way to transfer and generate new knowledge is through stories, through anecdotes that share knowledge through personal narratives.

Kenneth Gergen stated that knowledge does not reside in the individual, but in society in language and in the interpersonal dialogue

4. Sharing environment

Generating an environment of collaboration and competition is beneficial to motivate the student effort and new knowledge creation.

For millenials there is a strong preference for sharing instead of owning

Time magazine: “sharing economy as one of the 10 ideas that would change the world”.

5. Experience

Asking students to be part of the solution is one of the most effective tool in the creation of new knowledge.

Dewey : “ It is important to understand the individual learner as an actor rather than a spectator.

Piaget: “The human mind builds and internalizes a model of how the world functions, only through the experience”

Real life experiences

I invite students to leave the classroom and visit poor neighborhoods in the city in order to understand their different needs and see how business really works in emerging countries.

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Children Book

I ask students as a homework to prepare children books explaining in an educational form the way in which logistics work

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Solving real problems

In class we design a booklet guide with the required steps to export cocoa in our country. It helped many local cocoa producers in Tumaco, who are now exporting directly their produce and have eliminated the need for intermediaries

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Cocoa Dream

Learning by contributing to real problems with real solutions has been for students an unforgettable experience.

Knowledge for Sublimials

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

A high sensibility for humanity

A responsibility for environmental protection and care for all living creatures.

All productive and service processes, private or public, will be compelled to be responsible. No more immune companies to public opinion, no more outrages.

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Critical Capacity

These new students, will no longer be satisfied with the information and knowledge available in internet.

They will criticize everything and ask all type of questions. There won’t be an absolute truth, instead there will be several approaches to the truth.

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Leisure and entertainment

Education should be fun. This will be an implicit requirement.

With so many possibilities for pleasure and entertainment in those times, they will demand for their education to be equally appealing.

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Role of the universities

Universities will become the key institutions to connect businesses, students, governments all over the world

World problem resolutions and the creation of new knowledge will be worked through technological platforms of collaboration among peers

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Role of science and technology

The construction of new knowledge will be through virtual reality machines in which students can experience live moments, like for example visiting the logistic distribution centers in Amazon or Zara

without having to move from the classrooms

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Role of teachers

Educational content will be custom-made, according to the type of intelligence the individual and the areas where he can easily flow

Educators will know firsthand the motivations and preferences of each of their students.

They will have powerful tools to position themselves as facilitators of the dreams and aspirations of theirs students, in a more personalized way.

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Role of students

Through social media and various connecting devices, the different interactions of the students will be known – their relation with their family, friends, sports, work, hobbies, emotions, and spirituality.

@ACBSPAccredited #ACBSP2016

Future

Despite all the advances that the future will bring, the fundamentals of education shall remain - values, responsibility, and freedom for my son and my

students to decide the best path that will make them happy.
