M oabArea, Various Ascents. Kevin Chase, Tom Gilje, and Tait Rees made the first ascent of the lone tower located on the north side of Heat Wave Buttress via the route Spitting Cobra (5.12 AO). Kane Creek, Cameron Bums and Jesse Harvey climbed a 200-foot tower named Shelbyville via Mr. Putterman Goes to Washington (II 5.9 A 1). Approximately eight miles south of Moab is the popular Kens Lake. Just south, a dirt road approaches the Wingate cliffs prominent to the east.
