Taskforce Purpose…

The Keuka College Presidential Diversity Taskforce, formed in the spring of 2008 by President Dr. Joseph Burke, is charged with identifying issues and developing recommendations to address a systemic diversity initiative to help lead Keuka College as we strive to create an inclusive college and community environment. The initiatives over the next three years will focus on assessing and putting forth recommendations in regards to the College’s climate, access and retention of students, faculty and staff from underrepresented groups, collection and analysis of data and an in-depth look at student life.

Draft Definition - Diversity

At Keuka College we believe diversity is multifaceted, acknowledges and respects differences, is a naturally valuable asset and is cause for celebration. We believe that diversity embraces the awareness and celebration of the many identities that make up our community, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, culture, language, physical ability, mental ability, gender, and geographical region. In a world where comfort and safety are vital, we hope in time to provide an inclusive environment where we can successfully understand and appreciate different perspectives by moving beyond tolerance to encouragement and acceptance of our differences.

A Little Story…This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

 

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.

 

Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.

 

Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.

 

Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.

 

It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done
