• Siaya campus is a satellite of Kenya Medical Training College Nairobi which is a government institution.

• The college has 50 number of staff and 1,101 students.

Why have a HSM resource Centre

• To be able to effectively train students on leadership and Management.

• To be able to produce health professionals who are able to utilize available resources effectively and efficiently in line with the vision 2030


Pre-LDP Situation• Room for HSM had not been

identified

• No computers for HSM

• 6 computer literate staff

• Only 2 HSM books

• Good will from the administration

• HSM was being taught in all departments

• Internet services were available

How shall we be able to put up a

fully equipped HSM resource centre

within the library in light of the

above mentioned obstacles.


Priority Actions

• Identify a room within the Library and Renovate it.

• Buying of HSM books

• Buying of computers

• Deployment of staff in the HSM resource centre

• Purchase of e-learning materials


Priority Actions cont’d• Sensitization/Feedback on our

measurable result to the College management committee.

• Writing requisition letters to the Principal

• Follow-up with the Principal on the requests

• The College Management Committee therefore re-allocated funds for the establishment of the HSM resource centre.

Additional results

• Metallic grills were fitted on the library windows & doors.

• A pvc carpet & a desk fan were purchased

• Purchased furniture for the HSM resource centre


Way forward

• Acquiring E-Learning materials

• Connect the HSM resource centre to the computer lab.

• Start HSM training programme


Next Measurable Result

• HSM training programme developed and implemented

• Updating of all the Lecturers on HSM


Achievements to date

• A curriculum for HSM training has been finalized

• HSM Resource Centre has been connected to the Computer Lab


Key Lessons Learnt

• We have learnt team roles, acknowledgement, change process within organization.

• We are now able to facilitate the programme both to staff & students.

• We have learnt that with commitment & team work we can achieve our objectives and goals
