KENWOOD HISTORY

Kenneth Wood sets up the Kenwood Manufacturing Company, in his garage in Woking, in south London, UK. Kenwood launches its first ever product, the A100 – a toaster with a clever ability to turn over the toast.

Kenneth Wood launches the Kenwood Chef (A700), equipped with three power outlets, each with a different rotation speed, making it possible to prepare an infinite number of recipes in record time. Kenwood very quickly becomes an expert in food preparation.

First hand mixer is launched – Kenwood Chefette (A320).

Kenwood moves to Havant, close to Portsmouth, UK, to a larger facility that can produce more kitchen machines. The Kenwood Chef becomes a worldwide success.

Electronic speed control is introduced to the Kenwood Chef.

Kenwood acquires Tricom Manufacturing Company in southern China and establishes a permanent base in Hong Kong.

Kenwood Group expands by acquiring Waymaster. Then a year later, Ariete, an Italian manufacturer of steam products.

Kenwood celebrates 50 years of the company's history. A Limited Edition Kenwood Chef (KM500) is manufactured.

Kenwood becomes a part of the De'Longhi Group, strengthening its manufacturing, investment in new products and its international commercial network even further with five factories around the world.

kMix by Kenwood range is launched. Available in three colours: Raspberry Red, Peppercorn Black and Coconut White.

Kenwood invents the Cooking Chef – the first kitchen machine with a built-in heating element. With patented induction technology, cooking takes place directly in the bowl.

Kenwood launches the revolutionary Triblade – the first hand blender with three blades, instead of two, as well as reduced suction technology. It is proving to be hugely popular, reaching no. 1 on the GfK charts.

SLOW SPEED POWEr OUTLET

Positioned behind a removable front cover, the outlet provides the perfect balance of slow speed and high torque needed to drive the specialised attachments. The slow speed drive is essential for preparation tasks like pasta rolling and cutting, grinding minced meat and sausages, pressing fruit and shredding/slicing vegetables.

FAST SPEED POWEr OUTLET

This outlet, situated at the top back of the machine, allows for a variety of attachments to be used, such as a blender, mini chopper/mill and juicer. The functionality of this outlet makes creating and preparing everyday recipes easy; from blending baby food to grinding spices.

MEDIUM SPEED POWEr OUTLET

Positioned in the centre at the top of the machine, this is totally unique to the Cooking Chef and Chef Major Titanium series, and is designed for the food processor attachment.

bOWL OUTLET

In addition to the inclusive bowl tools, all Kenwood Chef Kitchen Machines can also perform a number of additional functions with the main bowl outlet. Additional attachments for this outlet include a colander and sieve, potato peeler and ice-cream maker.

INDUCTION COOKING TECHNOLOGY

The 1100W induction cooking technology allows you to cook directly in the mixing bowl. Heat is generated from the circuit created when the bowl is locked into place. It heats up quickly and is energy efficient. The temperature ranges from 20˚ to 140˚C, with 2˚C precision. With the twin probe thermometer, it accurately measures and controls the temperature inside the bowl.

FLExI BEATER

Made from heat resistant materials, the flexi beater has been developed to reduce the need to scrape down both hot and cold mixtures from the sides of the bowl during mixing.

STIRRING AND SPEED CONTROLS

Electronic speed control (8 mixing speeds) plus pulse, with fold, slow speed and intermittent stir functions to delicately retain the flavour and texture of food without breaking it down.

PLANETARY MIxING ACTION

While most beaters rotate with a circular action, the Kenwood bowl tools move in a planetary motion – whilst the beater revolves in one direction, the socket turns in the opposite direction to ensure all the mixture is picked up from around the bowl.

ADVANCED PULP EXTRACTION

APEX stands for Advanced Pulp Extraction and has been patented by Kenwood.

The pulp exits the basket at a 90 degree angle; ensuring most of it ends up in the collector and does not stick to the lid or rim, creating a build-up. Less mess is assured for the user, as there is little need to stop the juicer and clean the pulp that collects in the filter basket.

When emptying the pulp collector, just apply a little pressure on the lid and any remaining pulp attached to the top of the lid is scraped into the collector, providing an easy wipe clean facility.

A feature that can be used once the filter basket has stopped rotating and the flow of juice has stopped to a few slow drips. First, remove the juice jug, then twist the spout to create a block and stop any final trickles dripping onto the work surface.

unlike some other juicers on the market where the spout can be pushed up after use to stop the drips and cause damage to the motor, the anti-drip spout on Kenwood’s Excel Centrifugal Juicer is a twist action. As a result, build-up of juice within the body of the unit is avoided.
