WHAT IS A SCHOOL OF CHOICE?Each student residing in the Kenosha Unified School District is assigned to a school based on the boundary in which they live. However, every student has the option to attend other schools by choice.

Choice and charter schools offer the same core subjects and have the same graduation requirements as the rest of the schools in the district. However, their delivery technique and electives may vary depending on each school’s instructional focus and emphasis.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CHOICE AND A CHARTER SCHOOL?

Choice schools are schools other than a student’s assigned boundary school that accept students based on an application process.

Charter schools are schools other than a student’s assigned boundary school that accept students based on a lottery system.

All of Kenosha Unified’s schools provide excellent, challenging learning opportunities and experiences that prepare each student for success. No matter what your child’s interests are, Kenosha Unified has the right school to help them achieve their goals and future aspirations.

INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS The dual language program is a unique language acquisition program that aligns with Kenosha Unified’s curriculum and addresses all state standards but uses two languages to address literacy in all content areas. The program allows English-speaking students learn Spanish and Spanish-speaking students to learn English by grouping them together for core academic instruction all day. The program model develops language acquisition through a specific distribution of language.
